In these tutorial, we are going to implement a small system that beeps alarm/buzzer on detecting motion within its range. Almost all the materials for this project can be gotten from our store, here is the list:

- Arduino mega
- PIR sensor (x2)
- LED (x2)
- Piezo buzzer
- Dupont cables
- Prototype board
- Arduino IDE
- GSM module

We will be assuming that the PIR sensors will be placed at different locations or facing different directions. Connect the VCC of the PIR sensors to the 5volts pin of the Arduino, the out pin of the PIR sensors to pin 2 and 3 of the Arduino respectively and the GND to the GND of the Arduino. The LEDs should be connected to pins 13 and 12 of the Arduino respectively. The piezo buzzer goes into pin 10 of the Arduino. Finally, the GSM module RXD pin connected to Arduino TXD pin (GSM module not really included).

In this tutorial, I will show you how to play sound tone using Arduino and NodeJS. This post will be part of the tutorial series on Javascript in Embedded electronics.

With the tremedous rise of javascript and nodejs, it wasn’t a surprise seeing it heading into the world of electronics and IOT.

Lets make sure you have got all we need to accomplish this task, you can  get them from our store but the links to the individual components is attached to it:

- Arduino board (I am making use of Arduino Mega but Uno will still serve)
- Arduino IDE (You can download it here if you have not)
- Push button
- Piezo-buzzer
- NodeJS (You can download yours from here)
- Johnny-five (a JavaScript Robotics programming framework. Johnny-Five is open source and has growing developer communities. It can be install using the npm package manager).

I will show you how to implement a Sound sensor with an Arduino, LED and Buzzer which can be helpful in home automation, alarm system etc.
The ideal here is just to take a reading (usually a knock on the door or just pick sound of certain frequency) from a sensor. Then flash and sound a buzzer or alarm for notifications.

The materials I used were readily available the Store. Below are the materials I used with their links in the store and they are very few:

If the "small" achievement is not recognised how will they be motivated to achieve the big one? Imagine we can get drones to patrol highways kidnappers are having field days because we don't have enough Policemen or to patrol Benue or other places we have farmer/herders clashes to prevent attacks? To me, as long as they are functional and can stay in the air for at least 10 hours at a time, it is a big achievement

I will show you how to host a site built with Laravel on a shared host without SSH and also how to upload files the wrong way but it surely works.


This is not the best way to host a site built with Laravel because it takes away many flavors that comes with Laravel PHP framework but if you are running on tight budget or curious about doing things the wrong way. Then this is for you.

I will assume you already set up a laravel project, if you have not, visit Laravel docs.

Setup your hosting plan with everything that comes with it. Assuming our project is named CstdWeek and in a folder with the same name. We are going to transfer our project folder (yes, even the vendor folder but make sure you have checked and compiled everything worth compiling) to the shared server. Our project folder in this case should be CstdWeek, it should be on the same level as the public_html folder.

I tried compressing the project folder into a zip file and transferring the zip file but I was always hitting an error because of the javascript file inside the zip folder. Transfer the folder through FTP, thats the best way.

Delete the content of your public_html folder (not the folder itself) and move the contents of your project’s public folder (also create a new folder docs which we will use for file upload) to the empty public_html.
