Antoinne: Can't you guys simply the message that the ring is symbolic and not material? I know it's symbolic, but is it bad to want it to look cute too? Say, you know a girl who dislikes very conspicuous items and yet you buy a ring with a giant rock in the middle You don't think she'll experience some discomfort wearing that even if she loves you to heaven and back? That's what I mean. I'm not talking cost here, I'm talking cut. Or imagine buying your wife a mini dress even though she likes maxi dresses and feels uncomfortable in mini. Same thing here. The cost isn't the issue, but you should buy your woman something she doesn't have to psyche herself to wear everyday. If she wants a giant rock rather than full stop then I'm certain he can get a bigger rock (even if it requires buying something cheaper.) |

Is it such a bad thing to hope your husband to be proposes with a ring you'll love to wear? If it means so much to the man that she wears his mark, then he has to put some effort into procuring the right one. Marriage is not a favour please. That said, why the boy vex? |
Phones › Re: iPhone 6s And iPad Pro Announced by UjSizzle(f): 10:42pm On Sep 12, 2015 |
ExInferis: Why shoudlnt they be proud? We allowed our expectations of Apple to soar beyond belief, thinking we'd get magical new devices at each Apple event. That is strictly the fault of bloggers, the media, and fans who pore over every rumor, fantasy, wishlist, leak, renders, and fan art. We all know since 2009 that Apple refreshes their mobile hardware every year, with significant upgrades coming once every 2 years. Releasing a brand new flagship every year deteriorates sales and confuses the heck out of peoiple (See Sony and samsung). It's far better to maximize sales until they taper off before releasing a completely new device just in time for when those contracts were up at the end of 2 years. We know the "S" release cycle every year, so maybe we shoiuld lower our expectations.
,
Apple spends considerably more money on R & D than any other tech outfit. there's a whole slew of advanced prototypes in their labs. So do samsung, Sony etc. But most of these prototypes cannot conceivably be brought to market soon when the technologies are too complex, imperfect, or costly to make commercial sense. Also, what severely limits innovation is battery life: Even the Sony Z5 Premium is 4K UHD only some of the time, reverting back to 1080p in most use cases (see one of my posts above).
His genius was not borne of his ego. His intuition and zen-like quest for simplicity made for many great products.
You know, Apple kind of did. They were first to bring in a successful Personal Computer into the home, first to use TVs to output data, color, innovated GUI and mouse on computers (after Xerox failed to usher it forward), USB, Firewire, Text To Speech, Killed FDD, created the first AIO, fonts, made Bill Gates famous, helped put Adobe on the map, click wheel, multitouch, etc etc.
Flash deserved to die a horrible death. And it did, thank god. Even Adobe admitted flash was a POS.
That's debatable. In any case, like i said somewhere above, i'd think a 64bit ARM-based CPU is pretty innovative, as is Force Touch, or a fanless Macbook and its unbelievably small logic board, as is terraced battery in sheets, or the new rotund Mac Pro, or the 5k on the iMac, or lightning, or USB C (which Apple helped with), or Touch ID, or True Tone Flash.
examples?
we shouldnt expect Apple to keep inventing whole new product categories every year just to assuage our own bloated expectations. What i expect Apple as a business to do is enter existing markets, and then innovate within that market. This is what essentially they do, and they're quite successful at it: Payments, wearables, mobile phones, etc.
True. But.....steve has been wrong before. Remember when he dissed big screen phones? Well, the iphone 6 and 6 plus are the best selling iphones ever. And sure he made nonsense of styluses (stylii?) but now it's quite apparent with bigger screen real estate styluses are needed not to replace touch, but to augment it in certain use cases.
Yep. No the first time too. See WWDC 1997, when gates himself loomed large over steve jobs
Shoudn't you be more shocked seeing Adobe onstage?
Besides, Google is now the common enemy.
i swear i've no idea what this means
Yep. And so far it's working well for them, making killer profits more than the rest of the industry COMBINED.
The ripping has been mutual. In any case, Apple was first with the whole form factor and multitouch thingy back in 2007 before Android changed tracks from a Blackberry-esque ripoff to an iOS ripoff in 2008, with the G1. Then Apple created a new category (or rejigged an existing one, if you so prefer) with the iPad and then all of a sudden samsung began its Galaxy quest with an endless strings of clones and copies.
True, but the blame lies squarely with Ballmer. At least i like the way Nadella is going. If you fail in the mobile space, move to the cloud. Office 365 and Azure are doing pretty well, so maybe Google and Amazon might soon begin to have sleepless nights!
I miss the man too, but i fear were he alive, with his sometimes tunnel vision, Apple might have stuck to churning out 3.5 inch screens and thus gone to the dogs.
Thanks for reading!!!!
phew! this is so cathartic, after insulting certain tribes on Nairaland.
PS: I'm about to start my own blog on tech stuff within the local context, and thus need some encouragement. I also need contributors, commenters, critics, and pals.

I know some of the drugs have leaflets which states their usage and potential reactions. Do people even bother to read these things at all?
That said, it's really a sad situation. I can't imagine not being able to work up a tear for the rest of my natural life... Wow!
Nigerians please read and pay attention to your body when you take drugs. You should be able to spot changes and the slightest reaction to anything new ingested. We can't afford to be careless about this please. It's easy to blame the doctors and Pharm Co. but how well can you answer a question as simple as, "Do you have a medical history?" Or "Are their substances you're allergic to?" How many people can respond to that hmm? You ingest something today and a rash breaks out on your skin. It looks so small it could be mosquitoe bites for all you know. Tomorrow you're still taking the same substance and your brain never for once imagines you should discontinue use. That's weird. Even your body cream tells you of possible side effects and when to discontinue use and whom certain products are unsuitable for.
Yes there is an epidemic of practitioners who offer substandard services, but let's also learn to be responsible for ourselves.
I wish the family strength to get through this. |

charlesbailey: Nice one... Be yourself, how difficult can that be?? What if being yourself makes you invisible? Have you ever been invisible, you walk past and not a single person takes notice of you? Some people want that and that's why they bother to be everything the majority are attracted to-- which basically is superficiality. I think this trend tells more about the society than the individual. |

Anyone can be beautiful if you're looking at the full package not individual component.
Anyway, I think that a person should be comfortable in their skin and with their look. But if they believe that having the perfect everything is what will make them feel beautiful, then I wish them luck. |

They're lovely There's this view I keep hoping to capture in the morning: The water, boats and those highrise buildings (uba, Elephant and one other building's visible) in the horizon with a faint glint of the rising sun on them from the bridge. Then there's the fishing village just off third mainland bridge in the evening. I don't know what that area's called-- close to Unilag. Oh and there's the white unudentified birds always perched atop the bamboo sticks in the water. Nice view And those yellow flowers along Ogudu road. Oh well... *sigh* |

Fry your egusi and you'll have so much oil inside when you're done. All that oil masks the taste of the melon.
Pound and mould, then boil the mould with the meat and whatever variety of fish you love. |
