The Special Counsel to the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor has told the Director-General of the State Security Services, Yusuf Magaji Bichi to obey court order and unconditionally release his client, who has remained in detention more than 31 days after being acquitted and discharged by a Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State.

The goods were destroyed following the destruction of a grocery shop along the Oby Okoli Avenue of the UNIZIK Temporary Site, Okpuno Awka.



The ever-busy shop, which is situated among other shops and close to a mini market, was a one-stop shop for egg, flour, frozen foods, condiments, rice, beans, hot dog, noodles, and others in the entire Awka, both at retail and wholesale prices.

These goods, however, were all scattered on the street of Awka, as the ACTDA officials stormed the shop with caterpillar to pull down the building on Monday evening. Ejimakor made the call in a letter addressed to the Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ambassador Samuela Isopi over the issues surrounding the arrest and detention of the Mazi Kanu by the Government of Nigeria which also refused to release him after an Appeal Court judgment discharged him on October 13.

Recall that Kanu, who has been in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021, is being prosecuted on 15-count charges bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism. Eight of the 15-count charges were stuck out on April 8, 2022; while Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja quashed the remaining seven counts last month, and discharged Kanu. The Nigerian government has, however, refused to obey the court judgement that acquitted Kanu.

According to Ejimakor, the Nigerian government did not only refuse to release Kanu, but also denies him independent medical attention in the custody since June 2021 he was arrested and returned to Nigeria from Kenya.

He explained that Kanu a medical evaluation done in March shows that Kanu has Hypokalemia (low serum potassium) and is also suffering from concentric left ventricular hypertrophy with tricuspid valve regurgitation (Heart valve).

In October 2013, Benjamin Joseph, who is the Managing Director of an Ibadan-based IT retail firm, Citadel Oracle Concept Limited, petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over a fraud he suspected was committed against his company by some top officials of Zinox Group and its affiliate, Technology Distributions Limited in connivance with some allies.
Joseph said the fraud involved a N170.3 million contract awarded to his company by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for the supply of laptops in 2012. He said the contract was hijacked by the suspects, who illegally executed it and its proceeds shared, without his knowledge and consent, while the appropriate tax was not remitted to the government.
The businessman alleged the suspects also connived with the officials of Access Bank PLC to use his company’s corporate profile obtained from bank to commit the fraud.
Apart from appointing themselves signatories of a fake account No. 0059202675 opened in his company’s name at Access Bank, Joseph said the suspects forged his company documents, including a fictitious board resolution dated December 18, 2012, bearing a caricature of his signature, which they used.

Kano state government has condemned in strongest terms insinuation by an online publication, Sahara Reporters that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is one the three governors fingered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as having stashed away funds in their houses.

A statement by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba indicated that while the anti-graft agency did not mention the identity of the governors, Sahara Reporters went ahead to make such false reference.
