Nairaland / General / Biafrans Are So Dumb-kemi Olunloyo by ukwuezefavour: 3:07pm On Jun 30, 2017
Remember Kemi who was remanded in portharcourt prison for publishing false story about a pastor in portharcourt, she's is been bailed by the help of some kind Nigerians, the Likes of the queen blogger Linda Ikeji who she have previously bashed several times. Now the woman is out and she's out with full force, here is her view on Biafrans calling them dumb people, read below after the cut...
Biafrans are so fuckn DUMB. They think Fani Power and Fayose are agitating for them. All my brothers are doing are preventing a repeat of July 1966 when Ibos were slaughtered in #Makurdi and other parts of the north in revenge for Nzeogwu's attack on the northern and yoruba leaders. FFK and I LIVED IT! My father was 31yo and a commissioner in Akintola's government. He ran to Akintola's house that morning before the soldiers arrived. My mom a mere 26yo secretarial assistant was the one typing the letters fast as she told me I was 2yo and sick that morning sitting next to her. The letters were to tell the cabinet and others that the soldiers were COMING and they had killed Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa and Okotie- Eboh that morning. Meanwhile in Agodi government house, the Premier had vanished and went to his private residence armed with guns in Iyaganku. My dad was with him and told Akintola to leave! He said I will be an "Omo Akin" his last words meaning BRAVE TILL THE END.

Historical archives say Akintola exchanged gunfire with the soldiers. MY FATHER HAD JUST LEFT HIS HOUSE THAT MORNING!!
Meanwhile on the Remi Fani-Kayode side at the Deputy Premiere's residence in Agodi (still the Deputy Governor's residence to this date) the soldiers arrived and were beating the hell out of FFK's father with their guns RIGHT IN FRONT OF FEMI WHO WAS 5yo. Femi, myself and my mom recounted this moment Jan 2016 over the phone last year on the 50th anniversary. Femi told my mom he vividly remembers. They then took his dad away. He later escaped death.
In all this 1966 tragedy, only Ojukwu and Azikiwe the other Nnamdi ESCAPED so u see why the Hausas got mad and slaughtered the Igbos. There will be no damn BIAFRA! You Biafrans must fight back and get the LAME NPF to arrests Arewa Youths. Osinbajo and El Rufai ordered that. Nothing has been done.

Stop using that as an excuse to divide Nigeria and form the B!
#Igbos are extremely intelligent people. This entire Yorubaland will not be developed without them. If they leave, Ibadan's economy alone WILL COLLAPSE.
#Biafrans however are smart but NOT intelligent people. Bleep off Biafrauds!
YOU WILL NOT SEPARATE NIGERIAGAIN! UNDER MY DEAD BODY!
THIS IS MY FINAL SAY ON #NNAMDI's foolishness. You have the audacity to accuse politicians of taking bribes, looting and even DISRESPECTING GEJ the best president ever?? Who are u sef? Yet you allegedly collected $5000 monthly at IPOB from #Evans a classic Nigerian criminal.
Bleep you Kanu! Ive done prison twice in Nigeria where its a badge of honor.

Prison doesn't await you again.
HELL AWAITS YOU!!
Buhari/Osinbajo and all Nigerians RIDE ON.
#OneNigeria.
I HAVE BLOCKED ALL BIAFRANS WHO INSULTED ME WHEN I WAS ADVOCATING FOR THIS MOVEMENT. COMMENT AND SPEAK YOUR MIND. THE LUCKY MORONS GET A REPLY from #AdaBiafra to #Ashawo. Your disgruntled change of my name.

Nairaland / General / Nnpc Increase Gas Supply For Power Sector by ukwuezefavour: 2:57pm On Jun 12, 2017
The NNPC increases gas supply for power generation nationwide.
The march 2017 monthly financial and operations report of the NNPC shows the average daily gas production for the country as 226.918 billion cubic feet

The amount translates to an equivalent of 3056 mage Watts (mw) to the sector during the month.
The increase in supply to the power sector came on the heels of gas production for the month which stood at 226.918 billion cubic feet, bcf, translating to over 7.319mmscfd of gas per day, mmscfd.
This is contained in the March 2017 edition of the monthly Financial and Operations Report of the Corporation released in Abuja over the weekend.
A press statement signed by the spokesperson of the Corporation, Ndu Ughamadu, noted that the move is part of effort to boost electric power generation in the country.

He added that the development may soon yield the required dividend in terms of power supply in the country.
Details of the March 2017 figure shows an improvement on the previous month’s record which stood at 582 mmscfd. The supply is also over 29 per cent higher than the corresponding supply record for March 2016.

According to the report, pipeline sabotage in the country increased from 49 downstream pipelines vandalized points in February 2017 to 94 in March 2017. This represents over 91 per cent increase relative to the previous months despite Federal Government’s and the NNPC’s continuous engagement with the stakeholders. Nevertheless, there is a noticeable improvement compared to corresponding period of March 2016 which posted 259 cases.

Also, in the downstream sector, NNPC has in stock a robust inland supply of over 1.2billion litres of petrol sufficient for more than 34 days forward consumption.
On Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), NNPC continued to import to supplement AGO local refining, while the Central Bank has released foreign exchange to marketers to import AGO and ATK.
The report notes that the inaugurated 497.2 km System 2B petroleum pipeline network which was achieved within the period under review has helped the NNPC to sustain the gale of uninterrupted supply and distribution of products throughout the country.
Only recently, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, noted that the Corporation’s re-commissioned Mosimi and Kano depots had impacted positively on highways across the Country.

Dr. Baru had stated that the two depots had relieved the impacts of long haulage of petroleum products on the roads, saving the nation from serious environmental consequences of bridging to motorists, settlements along highways and the general ecosystem in the country.
The March 2017 NNPC monthly Financial and Operations Report is the 20th edition.

Webmasters / 15 Tested And Proven Ways To Build Your Subscriber List by ukwuezefavour: 3:14pm On Jun 09, 2017
A list of engaged subscribers is one of the most effective and reliable marketing resources. A good list so valuable that it can’t be bought. Why? Because when subscribers sign up for your list, they’re signing up to hear from you and your company. Subscribers have to be earned. What are the best ways to build a list? We’ve collected the top 15 to share with you today.

The permission model allows you to fill your audience with people who are genuinely interested in your brand and what you have to say

With information collected during sign-up (or later), you can precisely segment your list and design your email communication to suit your reader's preferences.

As you attract qualified leads, you’ll be able to guide them through the decision-making process by aligning content to specific buying cycle stages.

Take a look at the 15 tips we’ve collected to help you build your email marketing list:

Offer quality content. Nobody gives up their email address for free. If you want to build a valuable relationship and engage your audience, you need to provide content that is worthwhile and interesting.

Put sign-up forms on every web page. Your sign-up form should be everywhere your potential subscribers are. Make sure it’s visible and easy to fill out.

Use social media to collect email addresses. Integrate your sign-up forms with social media platforms. Driving traffic from multiple sources allows you to build a strong email marketing list much faster.

Design your sign-up form carefully. Ask only for information you plan to use. A good rule of thumb is that less is more — the shorter the sign-up form, the higher the conversion rate.

Show your privacy policy. Inform your readers that you will not share their personal information with third parties. A clear privacy policy helps you build trust and convince visitors that it’s safe to subscribe.

Show samples of your content. Let your subscribers know what they are signing up for. Use your older content samples to “sell” the email sign-up.

Include a call to action. Put a call to action in your submit button, e.g. Sign me up! This makes the sign-up process more engaging and improves the conversion ratio.

Give away freebies. Think of a relevant incentive for your audience (e-book, infographic, whitepaper) and provide it for free.

Ask subscribers to share. Take the time to prepare valuable, shareable content. Remember that putting the social share buttons is not enough; you still need to ask your subscribers to use them.

Build a content distribution strategy. Producing great content is only half the battle. Make sure it’s visible to the right audience. Define who your ideal audience is and find out where they like to congregate online. Then choose communication channels accordingly.

Publish landing pages. Create a squeeze page where visitors can download premium content in exchange for their email address. A dedicated web page helps users focus on the call to action and increases conversions.

Include testimonials on your landing page. Social proof helps build trust toward a brand and its products. Use testimonials from satisfied customers to help visitors make a decision.

Blog regularly. Great content brings more traffic. Develop a realistic content publishing schedule and stick to it.

Guest post on popular blogs. Publishing your content on other blogs is a great way to build relationships with other bloggers in your industry and introduce yourself to new people. Include a backlink to your blog, and your blog’s search rankings will go up.

Collect email addresses at offline events. Be ready to collect email addresses at trade shows and conferences. Ask for business cards or use the Forms on the Go app to instantly add people to your list.

It’s time to get started.

Now you know a handful of great ways to build one of the most effective marketing assets — your email marketing list.

Politics / Dino Melaye Fault Buhari For Still Keeping Ibrahim Magu As EFCC Boss by ukwuezefavour: 3:07pm On Jun 09, 2017
Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye has faulted the Presidency for keeping the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu despite his rejection by the Senate.

He described as selective justice that President Muhammadu Buhari refused to remove Magu who has been in acting capacity.
In his valedictory remark during the two years anniversary of the 8th Senate, the lawmaker wondered what Magu is still doing in office having failed confirmation in the Senate.
“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, the Senate has in the last two years did a lot. But it is selective justice that President Muhammadu Buhari still left Magu in office,” he said.

“Two weeks ago, I raised the issue of National Lottery Regulatory Commission and the DG apologized and left office based on the Senate decision. Why is Magu being kept?” he emphasised
He warned that the Senate would be resistant to all forms of persecution in the next two years, stating that there were obvious persecution of the Senate in the last two years.

Politics / Senators Who Say Nothing, And Do Nothing At The National Assembly by ukwuezefavour: 2:54pm On Jun 07, 2017
The Senate is one of the chambers in Nigeria’s bicameral legislature, the National Assembly.
The National Assembly is the nation’s highest law-making body, whose power to make laws is summarized in chapter one, section four of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, as amended.
Sections 47- 49 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, states inter that “There shall be a National Assembly (NASS) for the federation which shall consist of two chambers: the Senate and the House of Representatives.”
The Senate is headed by the President of the Senate, assisted by the Deputy President of the Senate. These Presiding officers serve as political heads. There are one hundred and nine members in the Senate representing 109 senatorial districts in the country.
Senatorial Districts are evenly distributed among the thirty six states with each state having three senatorial districts, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja has just one senatorial district.
Since 1999, when Nigeria returned to democracy, after many years of military rule, the Senate has played an integral role in contributing to the growth of the nation’s political space. Since that time, the nation has had five Senates. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), held sway for Sixteen, out of the eighteen years since the return of the country to democracy.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), only took over in 2015, after securing majority seats. Since it took over however, the Senate has been inundated with a number of controversies. Despite the boisterous posture of the current Senate, some lawmakers, are perceived to have performed below the bar, while many others have completely gone into oblivion, by consistently missing sittings, both in the chamber and at the committee levels. Below are some of the lawmakers.
David Mark
David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, was born in 1948. He is a retired Army Brigadier General. Prior to his political career, Mark served as a military governor of Niger State and was a former Minister of Communication. Mark is the longest serving lawmaker in Nigeria’s political history. He has been in the Senate since 1999.
After presiding over the affairs of the Senate for eight years as President, Senator Mark has suddenly resorted to keeping a low profile at the Red Chamber, since his fourth reelection to represent Benue South Senatorial District. He manned the Senate president’s seat between June 2007 and June 2015‎.
Following the failure of his party, the PDP) to secure the majority number of seats needed to retain his position as Senate President, Mark has gone into political obscurity.
Senator Mark’s frequent absence and sudden silence in the Red Chamber, assumed a worrisome dimension during the well-reported confirmation hearing of ministers-designate in October 2015. Throughout the duration of the screening exercise, Mark maintained a loud silence and refused to participate.
Section 63 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), provides that the Senate and the House of Representatives shall each sit for not less than 181 days in a year. ‎This provision is applicable to lawmakers who are also expected to fulfill this constitutional obligation.
Senator Mark’s name was conspicuously omitted when the Senate president, Bukola Saraki announced the names of the various standing committee chairmen in late 2015.
Our correspondent observed that since the emergence of Saraki as Senate President on June 9th, Senator Mark has been keeping mum and maintaining a solitary posture among his colleagues.
Unlike his colleagues that participated actively since the PDP lost its majority seats to the ruling APC, Mark has not uttered a word on the floor of the Senate, even as he has not contributed to debates on pressing issues in the country.
At the peak of the massacre of natives of Agatu, in his senatorial district, Mark refused to move a motion on the floor of the Senate to draw the attention of lawmakers to it. Instead, he resorted to issuance of press releases.
Similarly, unlike his colleagues that frequently move from seat to seat to exchange pleasantries and friendly banters with other lawmakers on the floor of the Red Chamber before commencement of sittings, our correspondent has observed that Mark is always confined to his seat the few times he has attended plenary.
Beyond his defeaning silence, our correspondent has equally observed that Mark has abandoned the reserved seat meant for him as the longest serving Senator in the chamber.
At the Senate, the sitting arrangement of the Senators is usually based on their ranking. For instance, a high ranking Senator sits after the majority or minority leader. This depends on the lawmaker’s party affiliation.
Instead, Mark sits at the last row on the side where the seats of Senators who are of the PDP are located. He is the last Senator to enter the chamber whenever he attends and the first to exit, long before the end of the day’s plenary.
Again, unlike the other lawmakers, Mark enters the chambers through the back door and always in company of two policemen and few aides.‎ He boycotts the front door, apparently to avoid probing eyes of onlookers and security checks.

He has not attended one committee meeting, sponsored a bill, moved a motion or second any. He does not belong to any committee and is a chairman or a deputy of any either.
Buruji Kashamu
Buruji Kashamu was born on the 19th of May 1958. He is a Senator from Ogun State. He represents Ogun East in the current 8th National Assembly. Senator Kashamu is the vice chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government.
Like Senator Mark, Kashamu is a member of the opposition PDP. He seldom attends plenary and does not contribute to bills or motions on the floor of the Senate. Apart from Senator Mark, Kashamu is the only Senator who has raised any motion, sponsor a bill or second any since he was sworn-in in June, 2015.
Kashamu’s woes in the Senate, has been further compounded by his running battle with the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). He is currently fighting the battle of his life, to prevent the NDLEA from extraditing him to the United States of America for trial.
Occasionally, he attends committee meetings, but avoid the prying eyes of the media. He barely grants press interviews and abhors any form of controversies with his colleagues.
Reprieve came his way recently, when the Senate ordered the NDLEA and other security agencies not to extradite him to the United States of America until all court processes concerning the matter are resolved.
The Senate, in arriving at the decision, noted that the NDLEA and the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) have been orchestrating plans to arrest and take Senator Kashamu to the United States of America over alleged drug trafficking offences.
Jonah Jang
Senator Jonah David Jang is a retired Air Commodore. Officially, he was born on the 13th of March 1944. He was the Governor of Plateau State from 2007 to 2015. He had previously served as Military Governor of Benue State and Gongola State. He was elected a Senator in 2015 to represent Plateau North in the Senate.
Although he has sponsored some motions in the Senate, he is however hampered by his old age. Sometimes, he dozes off on the floor of the Senate, while the day’s legislative business is still ongoing. He is a regular face in the chamber, but one of the few inactive. He seldom attends committee meetings and often come to the chamber late.

Politics / FG To Settle $5bn Debt With Crude Oil by ukwuezefavour: 1:22pm On Nov 09, 2016
The Federal Government has reached an outline settlement to resolve a protracted dispute with Western energy companies, under which the groups will be paid $5bn to cover exploration and production costs.

Royal Dutch Shell, ExxonMobil, Eni, Chevron and Total have signed deals relating to the settlement of costs incurred between 2010 and 2015, as they also seek to forge new financing arrangements for their joint ventures in Nigeria, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.

The settlement, which will be a haircut on the over $6bn the oil majors claim they are owed by Nigeria, needs the approval of two government bodies and the final sign-off from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, told the Financial Times that the settlement had been accepted by the five companies and that he was hopeful that the deal could be finalised before the end of the year.

Western energy companies have taken the lead role in pumping crude from the country, but they have done so in joint ventures with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the state-controlled oil group.

Exploration and production costs are supposed to be split in the partnerships between the two sides, but the companies have accused the NNPC of failing to pay its portion of the expenses, and this has prompted the groups to hold back on vital investment.

The NNPC has repeatedly queried the amounts it owes the western companies, but the settlement is an attempt to draw a line under the dispute.

Aside from security concerns in the Niger Delta oil hub, this has been the biggest single hindrance to exploration and production.

Oil is the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, and the country has been hit hard by the collapse in crude prices since mid-2014.

The joint ventures between the western energy companies and NNPC are a major contributor to the country pumping more than two million barrels a day, most of which is exported.

In the past, the western oil companies have had to claim the money they were owed for costs run-up in the partnerships from the Federal Government accounts that were also used to fund state spending, meaning payments were often delayed in times of crisis.

Nigeria’s financial obligations to the joint ventures, known as “cash calls,” have long been a problem but are now viewed by the government as a particular burden as the country’s economic crisis bites.

California said the taxes on the sale and farming of cannabis would support youth programmes, environmental protection and law enforcement.

Legal marijuana is among the fastest growing industries in America, with some analysts suggesting sales could reach $22bn (£17.6bn) by 2020.
Opponents, however, had said the proposition opened the way for promotion of the drug on shows watched by young people, exhibiting "reckless disregard for child health and safety".
In Massachusetts, the legislation is set to take effect in December, with similar taxation measures to those in California.

Politics / CCT Vs Saraki: Court Strikes Out Saraki's Appeal by ukwuezefavour: 12:31am On Oct 30, 2016

The senate president has lost the appeal against his trial before the code of conduct tribunal as the court affirmed jurisdiction of the CCT to try Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The senate president had gone to appeal court to challenge the jurisdiction of the CCT to try him on alleged false declaration of assets.

Delivering judgment on the appeal filed by the Senate President, Justice Abdul Aboki affirmed that the CCT has jurisdiction to try the case.

The five-man panel of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, agreed that the tribunal erred in discharging former Lagos Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu but the tribunal has since corrected itself in subsequent judgement.

On the claim that a quorum was not formed before he was charged, the court resolved the issue against the Senate President.

Justice Aboki resolved that three men at the Code of Conduct Bureau can adjudicate any matter.

All the four other members of the panel unanimously agreed with the lead judgment delivered by Justice Aboki‎.

Meanwhile, the trial of the Senate President continues at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, where he is facing a 16-count charge of corruption and false assets declaration.

The CCT had earlier struck out an application filed by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, against the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar.

Senator Saraki had accused Mr Umar of bias and asked him to disqualify himself from hearing the case on alleged abuse of office and non-declaration of asset levelled against the Senate President.

With Thursday’s ruling, the CCT will resume Saraki’s trial on November 7 and 8.

The trial had been stalled due to the annual court vacation and the deployment of technicalities by the defence counsels.
