A 35-year-old Nigerian national, Newton Johnson, has been sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled drug, specifically 2.9 kilograms of cocaine.

The charges against Johnson stem from an incident on November 9, 2024, at the Freetown International Airport, where he was allegedly discovered with two compressed parcels of cocaine.

Appearing before the Court of Appeal Judge, Hon. Justice A.S. Allieu, Johnson openly admitted to the offense, telling the court, “The allegation against me is true.” His admission led to an immediate conviction without the need for a prolonged trial.

The case highlights the Sierra Leone judiciary’s firm stance against drug-related offenses, particularly those involving hard substances such as cocaine. Authorities have emphasized that such offenses pose serious threats to public health and national security.

Following the sentencing, court officials reiterated that the judgment serves as a warning to others engaged in or considering involvement in illegal drug activities.

The conviction marks another significant outcome in the country’s ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and maintain law and order.

Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and Sierra Leone's President Julius Maada Bio has held a fruitful discussion with his Nigerian counterpart, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Abuja.

According to President Bio, the meeting centered on strengthening cooperation between Sierra Leone and Nigeria, as well as developing a broader coalition to combat terrorism and insecurity across West Africa.

Both leaders also emphasized the importance of promoting regional integration under the framework of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The discussion comes at a time when West African nations are facing growing security challenges, including terrorism and cross-border crimes.

Just recently, U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and threatened possible military intervention over an alleged ongoing Christian Genocide in the country.

The two presidents reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with other ECOWAS member states to ensure stability, peace, and sustainable development in the region.

The meeting underscores ongoing diplomatic efforts among West African leaders to reinforce unity and address common regional concerns through dialogue and collaboration.

Scissors has been removed from the pelvic area of Sierra Leonean lady, Zainab Kamara, 7 years after Doctor's negligence left her in that state. 

Kamara who went for a Caesarian operation and lost the baby at Port Loko district was left with constant pains after a doctor that operated her forgot scissors inside her Stomach that later moved to her pelvic.

Sierraloaded learnt that She has been suffering with this pain for 7years and later an X-ray was done on her and the results shows Scissors is in a pelvic area according to sources doctors were scared to do the operation because they think it’s a risky one.

After 7 years the Scissors was removed by an Expert from another country at the Masanga Hospital in Tonkolili District.

According to WIMSAL President Femi Jarret Coker through a Facebook post she made, she is calling on the Government, Ministry of Health and Sanitation to please investigate the Doctor for such terrible mistake and also calling on people with similar issues to please speak up.

A young Sierra Leonean Man have stabbed himself because his girlfriend broke up with him in Pujehun Town, Southern part of Sierra Leone.

The incident which took place in Pujehun Town shows the young man struggling with the knife in his stomach. The man was insisting to have the attention of the woman before he will join the vehicle to take him to the hospital.

With the help of the people and the presence of a police officer, the woman was brought and the young man finally calmed down and allowed to be taken to the hospital.

A corpse in Kent, Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone has exposed its killer after forcefully walking its undertakers to the house of the alleged murderer.

The corpse exposed its killer after several attempts to enter the said house of its murderer on the day of her funeral.

In the video obtained by Sierraloaded, a group of men were seen carrying a coffin and a strange force were taking them towards the entrance of a house.

According to the witnesses, the corpse is said to be a victim of ritual murder in Kent Village, and the house it was entering was alleged to be that of the ritualist that murdered her.

Over the weekend in Makeni, Sierra Leone's female cyclist, Isata Sama Mondeh defied all odds to marry her beloved heartthrob in a peloton that has left many Sierra Leoneans in awe.

Sierraloaded gathered that the ceremony which was graced by number of cyclists in Sierra Leone has now become the talk on social media as the couples and friends opted for bicycles instead of conventional motor vehicles.

Isata Sama Mondeh who is Sierra Leone's current fastest female cyclist� is also the first female bicycle mechanic in Sierra Leone. Isata is also the the first female bike mechanic to own a bike shop which number of cyclits working under her.

Isata had participated in the Tour de Lunsar where She won the first position in the female category. As Sierra Leone’s first female mechanic, she is breaking stereotypes and working hard to build up a business that might support her and her family. She convincingly uses her experience as evidence when she talks to girls, families and community members and she addresses traditional cultural view head-on.

Suspected ritualists, in the early hours of Thursday, beheaded a 12-year-old girl, simply identified as Eguono, at Okwemeva junction off Scott road in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

NG Reporters learnt that vital organs of the deceased were also severed by the suspected ritualists.

At the moment, residents, still in shock over the development, are afraid to speak to the press for fear of the unknown.

Men of the Nigeria Police Force, Oghara Division, have gone to evacuate the remains of the deceased.

When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa said, “The DPO actually called me; but they said the girl was not mentally okay.

“Yes, it is confirmed, but the DPO has commenced investigation to unravel the true story as to why the girl was beheaded.”

Nigerian-born Evangelist, Pastor Victor Ajisafe has been arrested by the Sierra Leone Police force is currently been questioned for allegedly using hate speech.

His arrest comes after the famous preacher, founder and President of the Sanctuary Praise Church had blasted prominent Islamic scholar and Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe, Mufti Ismail Menk over alleged claims that Sierra Leone is an Islamic state.

Ajisafe described Mufti as “a liar and an angel of Darkness who have come to deceive Sierra Leoneans”. He further added that Islam as a “religion of terrorism”.

Recall that Mufti was in Freetown on a two-days visit (Islamic lecture) mission on from 21 -23 September. Menk landed at the Lungi International Airport on Thursday, 21 September on the invitation of the Foundation of Islamic Information Sierra Leone (FOISIL) and held an inspirational lecture at the jam-packed National Stadium on Friday and at the Freetown Central Mosque at Rokupa. It is worthy to note that over 50,000 people filled the National stadium during Multi’s lecture, a record which is the first of it’s kind in the history of Sierra Leone.

Multi, during his visit to President Koroma at the state house lodge in Freetown has said that part of the reasons why he has visited the country was to sympathize with the victims of the August 14th Mudslide and Flood disasters and also pray for those who lost their lives, as well as for the country.

However, Pastor Ajisafe has countered his claim and his religion describing Islam as a “religion of terrorism”. The man of God said that Mulfti’s preaching about Jesus is not true. He also added Sierra Leone does no have a trace of Islam. “You have idol worshiping and Christianity, those are the two religion here.”, Ajisafe added. He further alleged that Ex Late Sierra Leone President, Alhaji Tejan kabbah sold Sierra Leone out to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) through a back market.

Mamie narrated that after the exercise she observed her breast becoming large. She further stated that while taking bath together with the elders in the stream one of the women spoke about her breast saying her breast is becoming abnormal and it is not a good thing for her.

Rumoured death of Africa’s richest man, Nigerian Aliko Dangote has gained his attention on Sunday after the false news spread across several news websites.

Dangote tweeted at 14:00 GMT that he is alive and people should disregard the malicious report.

“I am hale, hearty and alive. Please disregard malicious report saying otherwise. Thank you,” he said.

The rumour is believed to have started from a German website on Sunday morning and later picked up by many websites in Africa.

The website reported that Dangote had “died in Germany after a short illness which was confirmed by his family”.
