I had loads of petty charges on my TBIlls by Ecobank, it totaled to about N10k, vat, custodian charges etc.
I am leaving them after my 364 tenor. I am investing this week!!! So, I pray their recommended stop rates make loads of sense.
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 7:46pm On Aug 03, 2016
LOL, like i mentioned, I just dey do yanga.
Eventually i will make my €90 back and more, God willing.
I am just praying that by this time next year, the naira would have strengthened against the EURO.
One of the perks of trading from abroad at this point in time.
just2endowed:

madam, thats the same rate i loss out with ecobank. but wait oh, in euro currency and you are bidding in nigeria? or is the euro not gaining against the naira on the long run? and madam, i wont mind borrowing ur knowledge of tools that make u harvest euro cheesy.

I dont live in Nigeria, so I send my money over to invest. The devaluation of naira is helping me big time, when it picks up again, I can bring my money back here. In the mean time, I will keep investing! EVERY LITTLE HELPS.

I now have my rate from my bank, I will be going for 364 days. I am confused on which to pick out of my 3 rates, they are looking very juicy and I don't want to lose out on Thursdays bid. 17%, 17.30% and 17.50%
Celebrities / Re: #savemayowa: Aramide Of Lifestake Foundation Apologises, Shares Her Story by ummitoagirl(f): 9:35pm On Jul 30, 2016
N30 million naira in naija account &
$100,000.00 via online go fund me page.... that's how it totaled N85 million.
The money should be used for Mayowa's care & some should be given to her family to pay off medical bills and a little bit for her parents to maintain their business.
The rest should be used to care for similar cancer cases in LUTH...a lot of patient are in LUTH going through their stage 4 cancer and their families don't have sufficient funds to pay their bills.
Let's use the public funds to clear the bills of every cancer patient that is in difficulty. ...
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 1:16am On Jul 25, 2016
The issue with the 6 months is, the stop rate may not be as juicy!, you may need to be settling for like btwn 10-12% for 182 days next year. In a situation where the rates are doing very well, I may split my funds into 2... 90 & 182 days or 182 & 364 days!...I am still very skeptical about locking my funds down for a year though.

Danfuster:

I knew there was a reasonable reason for that 182 days which I think is wise. I definitely would be going the same route, a year just seems too long for me too.

I see you shared a snapshot of stop rate/Eco bank recommended rate which was from 2014, pls share the link to that page, I'd like to see the stop rate for last bidding as well as their recommended rate. I want to make my move next month. This is actually going to be my first bid and I want to get it right.

Do you know if GT bank accepts ones bid rate, I'd like to bid through them... Hopefully they'll accept half a milli or slightly above.

Thanks
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 1:08am On Jul 25, 2016
I receive the recommended bid rates in my inbox.
I am not familiar with other banks.

I buy my treasury bills through Ecobank, but I am not Nigeria. The best thing for you is get intouch with your account manager and be certain.
MrTour:
Hi, how sure are you about EcoBank not using your specified bid rate?

I intend to place a bid via them but I need to investigate further your comment to avoid me and them speaking the "do you know me grammar" lol.

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 12:58am On Jul 25, 2016
It is the standard method Ecobank uses, it wont accept your personal rate, except you chose from their recommended bid rate.
I buy my treasury bills through Ecobank, I cant say anything with regards to other banks in Nigeria.
NB: I deal with them via the internet/Email.

just2endowed:

Thanks for your clarification. I ask this coz I was surprised on the attached the other nler send. And I remember my last year bid that despite writing my bid using ecobank, they still gave me less my bid. I called the manager since the officer was saying they decided not me.

The bank manager apologize and told me I have the right and that the modalities are different from normal bid. Anyway, I just want a Clarity
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 2:38pm On Jul 24, 2016
No, Ecobank wont use your bid rate, they will only accept from their recommended rates

Can one inform and direct ecobank to use my bid instead of their bank bid

I usually do 182 days because I simply dont trust Nigeria!...a lot can happen in a year for me, I may need my money along the line, I did rather have 2 x 182 days. Off course, I do get tempted due to the %, but i tell myself, its only 1.5% difference between 182/364 days.

I bank from abroad with Ecobank, been very lucky to meet wonderful account managers!. Be careful, they will try and sell to you on the secondary market at lower rates, please emphasis what you want.

Danfuster:

You're definitely not alone on this, patiently waiting like a vulture for 4th August.

@ tritri, olujaidi, seunoni34

Anyone has experience with Eco bank cos that's where I have the most substantial savings, pls share

@feelamong. I've studied your pattern, tho I may be wrong but it seems you've never invested more than 182days, care to tell us why. It definitely would be beneficial to us.

Thanks

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 12:49pm On Jul 22, 2016
Ecobank actually gives it customers 3 recommended bid rates for each tenor, they usually go about .5% lower than the last stop rate to be safe. I go with the highest of their rates, which I won't know until 3 days before bidding takes place.
I only speculated with my %
Omonigeriarere:

why will you bid for 14.5 on August 4th, when it is actually 15.5 today?
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ummitoagirl(f): 9:48am On Jul 21, 2016
See blessing in disguise, I applied for 182 days @ 12.10%, but I got my instruction in very late! So I didn't make it. Thank God I can bid 14.5% for August 4th! Lovely days ahead.

I was thinking of this today, €1 euro = N244 naira... Never seen it soo high..
Transferring my funds to Nigeria, it least if the rate goes back down ie N210 in 6 months, I will be gaining like €140 ...
That's a lot you know. Every little helps

How is everyone? As you all know,my bank tells us the rates at which we could bid. Lately, Ecobank has been coming up with ridiculously low rates...see sample

91days
7.80%, 7.90% and 8.00%

So I am only permitted to pick one out of the above rates, it's ridiculous I tell you...can't wait to come n shift my money to another bank.
I went for 8%, it's low but my cash has been sitting there for a while now.

Results are in & have a look at the successful rates.... Am i right in thinking my bid was unsuccessful? I have requested not to be sold TB on their secondary market at my rate oh...I will wait till next auction.
