The EVANS saga, educated many of us about the modus operando of kidnappers. for months We discussed EVANS extensively and learnt more of the evil crime. Many were disgusted and many were motivated by EVANS wealth especially the young one with the mentality of GET RICH QUICK OR DIE TRYING. who may want to venture into the life of crime.

However, in the wake of this we have failed to proffer solution. that would guarantee our safety and discourage kidnappings in the society.
some would say the government should provide jobs job jobs ...this is a nice idea but I do not think it would help much. I believe the government should get involved in citizens affairs now create programs and make strict laws to discourage kidnappings.

1. As it is done in banking, the Government should make laws and set up programs in communities that would mandate enable community
leaders residents and landlords to
Know your neighbor and know your neighbor’s business/occupation
Know your landlord and know your landlords business/occupation
Know your tenant and know your tenants business

2. The government must make laws to compel Landlords to obtain and document robust information on their tenants before letting
properties to them and submit same to the local council authority.
Full names with proof of Identification on federal Government issued ID card
Tenants should provide NIN (national Identification number) or BVN
Date of birth, hometown, and state of origin marital status and family information
References and guarantor’s information should be obtained.

3. There should be a policy to completely stop and discourage huge cash withdrawals from banks. (my proposal is that) Transactions above
N1m must pass through an account and cannot be taken cash. – This will help to frustrate kidnappers who demand for very huge and outrageous ransom like Evans.

4. An online whistle blowing program should be set up to encourage citizens to report tenants or landlords suspicious criminal activities to
the police

5. Government should set up a data base maintained and managed by local council authorities to register local residents, collate information on property owners in the community.

6. Government should set up a database online portal where individuals / corporations would have to register their properties / buildings before it is sold to another party. Notice of landed property sales/purchases must be registered with the local council and approved by the authorities befor transaction is consummated.
NIN and BVN information of the buyer must be obtained and documented. – this way, persons like Evans cannot buy properties without notifying the government

7. Laws on Death penalty without pardon (capital punishment) for armed robbery and kidnapping should be introduced into the constitution
and enforced by the law. – The truth is – SOME HAVE TO DIE FOR OTHERS TO LIVE IN PEACE.

Arresting ipob members and trying them in the court of law as "terrorist's" will only exposé the loopholes and cracks in your Acquired intellectual deficiency syndrome ( AIDS).

Recently Abia police chief threatened to arrest any body found with Biafra emblem, flags or symbol and try them in court as terrorists.

This made me ponder and wonder if this police chief is actually properly educated or his been watching plenty of nollywood movies...instead of fighting crime.

Did he read the back of the law books or a charge and bail lawyer educated him that anyone found with Biafra emblems can be charged as terrorists?

We are all indigenous people of one place or the other.

How do this chief define a terrorist? Is the flag terrorizing him? Is the emblem or the biafran symbol terrorising him?

So when you see someone with a biafran colored head scarf or a hand band, this police chief gets terrified?

Even children these days fly the Biafran flag they wear the emblem, head scarf and hand band. Do they also terrify this chief. Is he going to arrest these kids and charge them to court as terrorists?

Its obvious the word BIAFRA makes the Nigerian state to tremble. Niger delta crusaders Oduduwa crusader's and Arewa crusaders does not terrify Nigeria. But the word Biafra or the sight of its emblem terrify heavily armed police and army chiefs.

The indigenous people tagged terrorist there is no record of them causing harm, harassment, theft or killings. But there is record of them using their mouth to spew thins i see as rubbish.

Why then do you kill them.? If you think they spew hate speeches why not consider them as mental and insane and recommend them to seek help at yaba left.

The Nigerian state will never win a case in court againt peaceful unarmed people. You cannot unjustly tag people terrorists without proof that they have been terrifying other citizens.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), says a media station Biafra Television, purportedly owned by the Indigenous People of Biafra, is transmitting illegally on Nigeria airwaves.

While speaking with journalists at an interactive session in Ilorin, Kwara state on Tuesday, Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, the director-general of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), revealed that a media station, Biafra Television, is transmitting illegally on Nigeria airwaves.

Kawu who revealed that the TV station is purportedly owned by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), also said the Boko Haram insurgent group had commenced radio transmission via a station located between Nigerian and Cameroonian borders .

He said that while security agencies have been able to stop the Boko Haram-owned station from transmission, Biafra Television is yet to be blocked.

Kawu said this is as a result of the international transmission system with which the station is using.

He warned against revolutionary transmission, saying such unlawful act could threaten the Nigeria’s unity.

“Last week, I was in the office of the inspector-general of police and they had a TV screen and what was being broadcast was on Biafra Television; they were saying some of the most outlandish things, showing videos from the 1960 s and abusing everyone,” he said.

“Now, this is happening and they were asking us (NBC) because our duty is to monitor and regulate such but the television is coming from outside of Nigeria.

“Our engineers have been making contacts with the international satellite organisation that does broadcast to Africa about the fact that you cannot allow subversive broadcast into Nigeria from other parts of the world.

“The Biafra Television in the south-east, we have been tracking the station. The broadcast is coming from outside Nigeria . We have been asking questions from international satellite test systems where they are coming from. That is how it is for now.

“Last June, Boko Haram was starting a new radio station, I think on 91 .00 megahertz on the FM band from the border between Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon and so it was our duty to inform security organisations what was happening so they could take it up and which they did eventually.”

He further said the commission is currently owed about N3bn and that stations yet to pay their fees risk getting shut down.
