Tosin Odufa, a Nigerian media personality has disclosed that he is the young man that told Prof. Wole Soyinka to get up from his airplane seat. 

Recall that the incident sparked controversy, after APC Gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State and business executive, Tonye Cole claimed that the young man disrespected the Nobel Laureate. However Tosin Odufa who claimed he is the young man that told Wole Soyinka to get up from his airplane seat, stated that he was on the Autism spectrum and needed the view from the window to keep him from getting sick on the plane, hence his insisting on taking the window seat.

Harrysong has slammed the American DJs who said that Wizkid is nobody without Drake, during a recent episode of their 'Road Podcast'.

Recall we reported that the American DJs; DJ Crooked, DJ Neva, DJ Dmiles and DJ Jaime Da Great stated that some parties are trying to make the Nigerian superstar the Sean Paul of Afrobeats. They also claimed that Wizkid has never done what Sean Paul did. The American DJs who further said that Wizkid is not a mainstream artiste, added that apart from music heads nobody in the streets of America knows who Wizkid is.

However Harrysong who slammed the American DJs who said Wizkid is nobody without Drake, stated that their fathers and Presidents knew Fela even before the Nigerian superstar. He further added that Nigerians stars do not need Sean Paul or Drake to be known as the stars they are.

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed who spoke in an interview with journalists disclosed that his predecessor, Mohammed Abubakar, spent N2.3bn on burial in five months.  According to Governor Bala Mohammed, his predecessor who claimed he spent N2.3bn on burial in five months gave the breakdown as N900m spent on the purchase of white cloth used for wrapping corpse, and N1.4bn used to buy the wood for lacing the graves after burial.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Dr Ladan Salihu, the Bauchi State Governor said the funds were spent between January and May, 2019.

Ladan alleged, “This money which ought to have been appropriated by the state House of Assembly before expenditure, all of a sudden emanated from our treasury books. How could you imagine that a state government, within five months, that is, between January and May, 2019, spent well over N2.3bn on funeral materials, dresses for wrapping dead bodies and the woods that you lace the graveyards with.”

The Super Eagles players are expected to get $95,000 each, if they win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON ongoing in Egypt. The players who have already been guaranteed $10,000 for their 1-0 win over Burundi on Saturday, are expected to receive $20,000 if they win their remaining Group B matches against Guinea and Madagascar. The players will receive $12,500 should they record another win in the round of 16. Sports Extra also reported that they will get $15,000 and $17,500 respectively for victories in the quarter-final and the semi-final, while a win in the final will see the three-time AFCON winners earn a $20,000 match bonus each.

A member of the Nigeria Football Federation’s Reforms Committee, Osasu Obayiuwana, who confirmed that the Super Eagles players will get $95,000 each if they win the 2019 AFCON, said “Group stage wins: $10k; Round of 16: $12.5k; QF: $15k; SF: $17.5k. Burna Boy who won the Best International Act category at the 2019 BET Awards, was nominated alongside alongside Mr. Eazi (Nigeria); AKA (South Africa); Aya Nakamura (France); Dave (U.K.); Dosseh (France) and Giggs (U.K). Divine Oduduru, the Nigeria athletics star has reportedly dropped out of an American University, Texas Tech University he got a scholarship at in his final year. Divine Oduduru reportedly dropped out of the American University in his final year, to purse a professional career as an athlete. This came after he was declared the second fastest African in the 100m after compatriot Olusoji Fasuba. Recall that we reported earlier that the Nigeria star who competed at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships on Friday, June 7, won both the 100m and 200m events as Texas Tech's claimed its maiden men's athletics national title.

"I want to say thank you to Texas Tech University for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to come study here," Oduduru said as he thanked his team mates.  "I want to thank all of my teammates — from the sprinters to the jumpers to the throwers — for always believing in me and giving me so much support. I never felt like I was not at home here. It has been so great being here at Tech, and now I've made up my mind that I want to go pursue my career. The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, has demoted 24 professors following a petitions some aggrieved people sent to the minister of education.  Adamma Nwachukwu, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture's spokesperson, who spoke to News Telegraph confirmed that 24 professors have been demoted. Nwachukwu said:

“Following the outcome of the process, council directed that affected persons should revert to their proper placement." She, however, declined to offer other details of the action, saying “the university is not exactly interested in blowing this matter out of proportion. It is an internal procedure and was not targeted at demoting or promoting anybody, but rather at ensuring proper placement of all affected staff and not just Professors.” 

From documents sent to the news platform, Alphonsus Odo Ovute of the department of Science Education; Melody Ndidi Modebelu of the Department of Educational Management; Gideon Ahamefula Emerole of the Department of Business Administration; Ogwo Patrick Agwu of the Department of Environmental Management and Technology; Aso Vincent Ele of the Department of Mathematics and Joy Chinwe Obunadike of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education were among the Professors demoted to Senior Lecturers.

A Nigerian health officer, took to Twitter to narrate how some scientist from the Nigerian Food Sciences and Technology Institute nabbed women using transformer oil to fry puff-puff, yam and other foods in Abuja.

The Taraba State Police Command, have confirmed that the state's Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC Chairman's wife and a neighbour were kidnapped.  Mrs. Abigail Gambo, wife of Mr Peter Gambo, was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen alongside Mr Emeka Okoronkwo, Chief Executive Officer of `Our Nation Bakery’. The PRO of the state's police command, David Misal, disclosed that the Taraba NLC Chairman's wife and her neighbour was kidnapped at the residence in Magami area of the state. 


“The two persons were abducted in their houses at Magami area of Jalingo about 1:00 am on Thursday. It is confirmed that two people were kidnapped and one other person injured by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Thursday in Jalingo,” he said.

“When they came, we all scampered in various directions. They whisked away my wife to an unknown destination after shooting sporadically in the compound,” he added. Gambo whose was abducted, told NAN that he had made a written submission to the Police on the incident, but that the kidnappers were  yet to contact him.

A Pastor and his church members in Ghana, have been accused of beating a mortuary attendant for not allowing them resurrect a church member.  Edward Mensah Akpakudi, the National Chairman of the Ghana Mortuary Workers Association (MOWAG) who made the allegation, disclosed that this happened in Sunyani. Accusing the Sunyani Pastor and church members of beating the mortuary attendant for not allowing them to resurrect congregant, Akpakudi said;

“One of our members was called to come back to the hospital because some people have come requesting that they see the body of their member because their pastor said the person is not dead but alive, so they want to pray for him. The mortuary worker responded in affirmative but these church folks had to beat him up."

He further revealed that the facility head at that hospital, went behind the mortuary association to take GHC300.00 compensation for the victim and left the matter to rest.
