“I appreciate the work and sacrifices of Baba Suwe and other ailing veterans. They have done what they enjoyed doing but they did it at the expense of their lives. I feel they are entitled to support from the public because they have given too much to society. But I don’t think it is right for you to tell the world that you helped someone. If I come to you for help, I should not see it on the pages of newspapers. Why would you assist me and use it to give yourself some leverage? Why put me in a humiliating position?”

Nigeria's Presidency has stated that President Buhari can rule from anywhere in the world, two days after he embarked on a 10-day private visit to the United Kingdom.The Presidency who on Saturday, April 27, 2019, said that President Buhari can rule from anywhere in the world, added that he did not need to inform the National Assembly, so long as his absence was for a short period. It further stated that the president while in the UK could exercise his authority, since his absence would only last for 10 days and not up to 21 days.

Reacting to an inquiry by Punch on Buhari’s visit to the UK, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu who defended his principal said; "Section 145 (1)(2) of the 1999 Constitution saying “ This is a relatively short absence. If you check Section 145 (1) and (2) of the Constitution, you will see that the law is only infringed upon when such absence extends to 21 days.”

Naira Marley has fired back at Simi, after she denied snubbing him at an event they showed up at during her interview at Beat FM.Recall we reported that Simi had said she had no grudge against Naira Marley as they aren’t enemies neither are they, friends. She went on to say that during the said event, they didn’t even talk to each other or make eye contact.

"To be honest with you, I have zero issues with Naira Marley, I don’t have anything against him, he is not my enemy. We are not friends, we are not enemies. I saw him coming, we did not make eyes contacts, he did not talk to me, I did not talk to him. It is funny because he didn’t do anything to me, he did not directly disrespect me, he is not the first person that would say what he is saying.I’m not a stupid person, I’m not going to antagonize you because I’m not dumb. I like to mind my business.

Probably he saw something and said something else. But he never spoke to me, he didn’t approach me and I saw that and I said whatever makes you happy. And for me I’m a big picture person, I look at the big picture and if you are not in the picture, I’m not going to stress myself" she said.

However Naira Marley who fired back at Simi after she denied snubbing, stated that bigger artistes at the event acknowledged him alongside Teni who is the 'biggest female artiste in the industry at the moment'. Though he admitted that they didn't talk, however Naira Marley stated that Simi was hating and guilty all along in the interview. He also faulted her claim of not seeing him in the bigger picture.

A driver who was arrested by the Oyo State Police Command, has disclosed that he killed his boss' wife because he sacked him. The 37-years old driver, Morenikeji Adeyemi who on Friday said he killed his boss’s wife, Oyewumi Ayanwale because he sacked him for no reason after four years of working with him, was paraded by the Oyo state police command in Ibadan. 

He revealed that he was able to lure the victim under the pretense of taking her for prayers.  According to him, he strangled the victim to death and consequently made away with her vehicle. Confessing to the crime, he said;

“I was hurt when my boss sacked me. That time, my wife just had her baby and because there was no income anymore, we lost the baby. So, I thought of a way to get back at him, because it was so painful. My boss’s wife had once told me about her spiritual challenges, and I had promised to take her to a place for prayers.I was able to use that as a premise to lure her and I told her that I was taking her to a place Awe along Awe/Oyo road.  We took her car and along the way, she said she was pressed, so she went into the bush, I followed her and strangulated her by the river in the bush. I then took her vehicle and ran away, before I was arrested two weeks ago.”

Austin Okocha, has disclosed that he will give his nephew, Alex Iwobi AFCON winning tips in his first attempt at the  2019 Africa Cup of Nations in June.Okocha who was part of the winning Eagles team in 1994 at his maiden appearance at the AFCON finals, said he will give AFCON winning tips to Iwobi, his 22-year-old nephew who was born in Lagos to Okocha’s sister and arrived in the UK aged four. Iwobi had earlier expressed his desire to match his uncle Okocha by winning the AFCON which is a 24-team competition which will hold in Egypt from June 21 to July 19, at his first attempt.

Speaking about Iwobi, Okocha said; “I think he (Iwobi) has done so well since making his debut for the Eagles, and for me the good thing about him is that he can only get better. He’s a very humble young man willing to learn every day and that shows in his performance. He keeps getting better and improving each day, and I hope he will achieve that dream of winning it on his first try.”

He added, “Of course, I will try and chip in some advice for him to achieve that (win the AFCON). It’s a massive opportunity. I was thinking it was going to be easy to win it again after we won it in 1994 but it was not possible for the team until after I retired from football. So, it’s a massive opportunity and it is good for some of us to pass that information to all these young ones, for them to realise that you might only get one chance to win it.”

A challenge to the law which says it is a crime to insult the President of Rwanda, has been rejected by the Supreme Court in the country who also upheld the jail sentence that comes with it. The new law which stated that anyone insulting President Paul Kagame faces between five and seven years in prison, was challenged by a lawyer, Richard Mugisha who argued it was unconstitutional and undermined freedom of expression. 

While the court ruled that the law should remain due to the responsibility that the office holds, it also ruled that a law which prohibits writing articles or drawing cartoons that humiliate MPs, ministers or other government officials should be annulled.Also the Supreme Court which upheld the law which made it a crime to insult the President of Rwanda and also proposed a jail term, also refused upturning the law which criminalises adultery.

Wole Soyinka who spoke on Hard Talk, a BBC programme, stated that his generation has failed Nigerians as the  dreams people of his generation had about the country had not materialised.Wole Soyinka gave the above response when he was asked by anchor of the programme, Zeinab Badawi “Has your generation of older Nigerians failed the people?” The Nobel laureate said; 

“Yes, I believe so. I compare today with dreams and aspirations we had when we all rushed home after studies abroad. We considered ourselves the renaissance people that were going to lift the continent to world standards, competitors anywhere. It hasn’t happened.”

Asked to comment about the 2019 presidential election, he said, “The 2019 election is one of the most depressing elections we’ve been through. Talking for myself, it wasn’t possible for me to make a choice for the simple reason that both candidates (President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar) had histories – one immediate, one past – which made one look for alternatives.”

The Sri Lankan Police were warned of the Easter terror attack, 10 days before Islamist extremist struck yesterday in an attack that 207 people dead and many others injured.The prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe confirmed late Easter Sunday, that the Sri Lankan's police and intelligence services were warned of possible suicide bombings at “prominent churches” 10 days before the Easter terror attacks. According to him, the warning to Sri Lanka’s police was not acted upon and the information had not been passed to him.

“We must also look into why adequate precautions were not taken,” Wickremesinghe said the previous evening.The intelligence information had been sent to the country’s top officers by Police Chief Pujuth Jayasundara, according to documents cited by AFP.

“A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” the alert said.

The Country's Minister of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment & Sports, Harin Fernando also tweeted; Some intelligence officers were aware of this incidence. Therefore there was a delay in action. What my father heard was also from an intelligence officer. Serious action need to be taken as to why this warning was ignored. I was in Badulla last night
