So, relax if this question comes up. It might be uncomfortable and feel like you’re bragging about yourself, but that’s why you want to plan ahead of time for this question. Pick a quality that you feel is your strongest and give specific examples and stories as to why it’s important. If you’re an excellent writer, talk about a time your writing made an impact. If you’re a great athlete, tie a specific experience or accomplishment to your strength in athletic performance and why it mattered QUESTION 4: WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST WEAKNESS? This is another common scholarship interview question. For this interview question, your interviewer is trying to assess whether you examine yourself for flaws from time to time. Of course, we are all not perfect, so you’ll need to specify one of your weaknesses that may hinder your success at college. However, you’ll have to show that you’re attempting to improve, or that you’re trying to overcome this weakness completely. Again, like your strength, give examples. QUESTION 5: WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE YOU’VE EVER MADE? A variation of the weakness question, this one has been popping up more frequently as it can elicit a powerful response. Your application already makes those things clear. What they want to know is why you are worth investing in. Your answer should include information about what makes you unique and how your past successes will feed into your future success. Tell them why you are a good investment, and give them a narrative to back up your claims. QUESTION 7: WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN TEN YEARS? Interviewers know you don’t have a crystal ball, but the scholarship committee is still looking for reassurance that you have a game plan. If you’re applying for a scholarship to fund your four-year degree, they want to make sure that down the road, you don’t still see yourself as an undergraduate. The story of Professor Andrew is one that is inspiring and also brilliantly paints the picture of how hard work, perseverance and hope can play a major role in the lives of human beings. Professor Haruna, vice-chancellor of Federal University, Gashua (FUGA), Yobe state, started his early years doing menial jobs just to survive. From a tender age, he liked the idea of schooling and getting educated, his passion led him to attend school, even when his parents could barely afford it. Born in 1957 at Gar village in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state, Haruna spent his early years engaging in farming, selling firewood and bean cake (akara), and other difficult activities to raise money to assist his poor parents who could barely afford his primary and secondary education, Sun News reports. Although they were very supportive of his ambition, all they could offer was their love and care and this put the work on Haruna as a young child, to do all he could to pay his fees. Creative writers should guide Nigeria on morality – Top female novelist, Professor Zaynab Alkali He started his education at Gar Local Education Primary from 1964 to 1970 and was at Government College, Maiduguri from 1971 to 1975. Not only was it difficult to pay his fees, the distance from the school to his home was long, about 600 kilometers and this required him to risk his life on the lonely road, travelling with strangers just to get educated. After completing his Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), he remained in Maiduguri and started working as a shoe maker, just to make ends meet and save money to further his education to university level. From 1983 to 1990, he received the university’s Fellowship to study at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Photo: Sun News Source: UGC In addition, he would run errands for staff in offices nearby his work station, just to earn extra cash. It was on one of such occasions that a lady approached him and requested for his service. They struck a conversation and she was interested in helping him further his education. The journey to becoming an academic started in 1982 when he was appointed as a Graduate Assistant by the University of Maiduguri. As advocates, they represent one of the parties in a criminal or civil trial by presenting evidence and arguing in support of their client. As advisors, lawyers counsel their clients about their legal rights and obligations and suggest courses of action in business and personal matters. All attorneys research the intent of laws and judicial decisions and apply the laws to the specific circumstances that their clients face. Lawyers often oversee the work of support staff, such as paralegals and legal assistants and legal secretaries. Lawyers may have different titles and different duties, depending on where they work. In law firms, lawyers, sometimes called associates, perform legal work for individuals or businesses. Those who represent and defend the accused may be called criminal law attorneys or defense attorneys. Attorneys also work for federal, state, and local governments.Prosecutors typically work for the government to file a lawsuit, or charge, against an individual or corporation accused of violating the law. Some may also work as public defense attorneys, representing individuals who could not afford to hire their own private attorney. Others may work as government counsels for administrative bodies and executive or legislative branches of government. They write and interpret laws and regulations and set up procedures to enforce them. Government counsels also write legal reviews of agency decisions. They argue civil and criminal cases on behalf of the government. Corporate counsels, also called in-house counsels, are lawyers who work for corporations. They advise a corporation’s executives about legal issues related to the corporation’s business activities. These issues may involve patents, government regulations, contracts with other companies, property interests, taxes, or collective-bargaining agreements with unions. Public-interest lawyers work for private, nonprofit organizations that provide legal services to disadvantaged people or others who otherwise might not be able to afford legal representation. They generally handle civil cases, such as those having to do with leases, job discrimination, and wage disputes, rather than criminal cases. In addition to working in different industries, lawyers may specialize in particular legal fields. Following are examples of types of lawyers in these fields: Environmental lawyers deal with issues and regulations that are related to the environment. For example, they may work for advocacy groups, waste disposal companies, or government agencies to help ensure compliance with relevant laws. Tax lawyers handle a variety of tax-related issues for individuals and corporations. They may help clients navigate complex tax regulations, so that clients pay the appropriate tax on items such as income, profits, and property. For example, tax lawyers may advise a corporation on how much tax it needs to pay from profits made in different states in order to comply with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules. Intellectual property lawyers deal with the laws related to inventions, patents, trademarks, and creative works, such as music, books, and movies. For example, an intellectual property lawyer may advise a client about whether it is okay to use published material in the client’s forthcoming book. Family lawyers handle a variety of legal issues that pertain to the family. They may advise clients regarding divorce, child custody, and adoption proceedings. Securities lawyers work on legal issues arising from the buying and selling of stocks, ensuring that all disclosure requirements are met. They may advise corporations that are interested in listing in the stock exchange through an initial public offering (IPO) or in buying shares in another corporation. Former member of ‘Plantashun Boi’, Blackface, has finally taken his former friend, Innocent Idibia to court for allegedly stealing his song. Blackface finally drags The singer revealed that he waited this long before filing a complaint in court because he was waiting for 2Face to do what’s right. He wrote on Instagram: ”I sincerely want to apologize to close friends, relatives, well wishers who may have been affected by my actions or inactions over the years. I have always stood for a better Nigeria, equal rights and an agitator for a system in place in our country so adequate compensation be given to not only Nigerian songwriters but song writers and creators all over the world ,an industry where all players in the creative process are recognized and credited for their contribution to any piece of work used commercially or otherwise. I will never be intimidated by any threat My intention has never been to expose anybody but the truth finds it’s way out eventually. My issues with Mr Innocent Idibia aka 2face & co are purely professional and my lawyers have filed my claims in Court, to be served to all parties in due time. I apologize for the delay in taking this step, i was hoping they would do the right thing and the need for me to take them to court will not arise but alas I was wrong. I believe the legal system will resolve this eventually. I will also continue to defend myself in the 50Million suit they filled against me which comes up for mediation on the 25th of November 2019. Meanwhile, I will not make any further statements on this issue until both lawsuits are concluded as I have entrusted this matter to my lawyers and the justice system. I appreciate all the good wishes from those who have reached out with their concerns over this protracted matter. Please bear with me as we calmly await the resolution of these cases. Thank You All Mr Ahmedu Augustine (BlackFaceNaija)” source: https://graceroll.com.ng/2019/11/19/blackface-finally-drags-2face-to-court-over-song-theft/
