They do the on and off thing - not much of it recently - but they are the network I have used for the better part of this year. So I might as well sub for 3 or 6 months.

Yeah. For my next sub I think I'll go for it. Already gave up on MTN. Their customer service is even more useless.

Considering the 3 or 6 months sub for my next subscription 🤔🤔🤔🤔

So I complained to Airtel and they seem to be very fast in resolving the network issue. I can confirm as of this moment that all is well right now ✌🏾

The major reasons MTN introduced ODU is to compliment for those who doesn't have fiber x in their location and to compete with Airtel ODU.
If they make Fiber x unlimited i wonder why ODU won't be unlimited.

If the mtn odu is powered on all the while the airtel odu was on, then it could 'possibly' mean there was a 'good inteference of signal' from the mtn to the airtel , whatever that means. But there is something unexplanable that happened between both signals, i dont think it is coincidence. Further study could have unveiled it.

Actually, the Airtel improved like a day or 2 before I purchased the MTN ODU.

And while I had it, Airtel maintained 50Mbps regardless of the status of the MTN. But immediately after selling, next day we're back to Kbps and my new sub is barely 1wk in.

I'm tired of network frustrations. I don't even have strength to complain anymore. I think it has to do primarily with my location, especially for the MTN.

I know this will sound unbelievable but it's totally true.

I bought the MTN ODU on a certain Saturday and magically from that day I started getting 50Mbps on the Airtel ODU which was rarely stable.

After about a week+ out of frustration I sold the MTN ODU on a certain Sunday, after all the Airtel has been great so far, but guess what, on Monday the Airtel ODU is back to default poor reliance mode that made me want to switch in the first place 🤦🏾‍♂️

I know say them go eventually make it easier to get external sim or swap esim for it. I'm not alone in wanting something portable when on the move.

I called their cc today. They said the physical sim version is 4G while 5G is esim. That's unusual because that's the first time I heard that ODU has 4G only model.

Confirm if yours is 4G only?

His unit is the first type that came with physical sim. When Nigerians spammed that ODU sms to get free data, it was stopped.

Does anyone else get less than 50mbps on their 50mbps plan?

For the past few months, getting 50mbps is a rarity. I used to get normal 50/60/70mbps before

Now, I'm getting a max of 25mbps and no, it's not a network problem because on my normal Airtel simcard, I'm getting speeds upto 200mbps.

It's normal here too. But most times it's 50Mbps. On some days you'll be doing between 15-35Mbps

So finally I settled on renewing my Airtel subscription because I tested and realized that the mtn issue isn't even about the ODU but rather MTN network is generally very poor in this region save for some places. (Like 2 buildings away from mine the network is so good)

For now Airtel is still maintaining 50Mbps..

It works more seamlessly in the normal X25 than the X25 pro. The performance may be better on the X25 pro but sometimes it takes time to connect, something I never witnessed in the base model.

It is really terrible. I was even trying to also see if porting to mtn is possible, but with this series of issues people have (and for fact family comfirmed that airtel still serves fully), I will simply forget it.

Just still observing how it goes on long run.

Its working great for some people though. But if the Airtel is good for u I'll advise to hold till it's in full force.

From your two screenshots, MTN is better. The latencies are better than airtel and airtel is just rubbish.

Mind you he said it's normal subscription not the unlimited. @michlins can you show us how the mtn ODU is performing right now?

they called me this afternoon that they have worked on my network that it's now perfectly ok meanwhile, I couldn't even hear what he was saying and he couldn't hear me.

I told him to be the judge of the quality of the service around here.

Airtel is constantly giving me 35-40mbps and 50mbps around 9pm and above

Just imagine. I think at this rate I'll just stick with my Airtel abeg. Anyhow e be na to just manage am.

Current Airtel expires by month end. If no solid improvement before then I'm dumping the mtn.

Yes on phone.

I've reached out to mtn multiple times and they can't seem to be able to resolve this issue. I even took my ODU higher up I only managed around 1Mbps. If it was Airtel once you submit your location info, expect improvement in latest 48hrs.

MTN will send you a text saying ticket resolved meanwhile nothing has been done 🤦🏾‍♂️. Maybe this thing only works best where 5G is available. Because why will Mobile data on phone working well while ODU antenna isn't.

Airtel still doing 50Mbps consistently in my location for about a week now.

No.. Search for 11.1v - 14v atleast.
With 14v u will be needing external charger.

Sorry I didn't see what you were replacing. Yes 7.2v should work but search for the ones with better customer rating to know what you're getting.

Get a 12ah or 18ah lifepo4 battery with bms from 9japrince. It has more life cycle than the 18650 cells. It has similar charging parameter to lead acid so your fan charger will be able to charge it. You can also get charger from ali express if you want to. Got my charger for 4,500.

This will make so much sense. Mine is 18650 though. Maybe next upgrade I'll go this route.

Wait your battery die naim u raise alarm say bms shut down? That's not shutdown, it's just the bms cutting off at safe voltage to prevent total shutdown. Normal sun go wake that one.

This would have been the time you try the sim using another router, but they are doing over sabi by restricting external sim.

My normal mobile data is blazing well indoors o. You would think that having an ODU antenna should improve your network experience, not as bad as Kbps for 4G+ with full bar. I doubt that's the problem

One of the reasons I don't like the MTN ODU is the Ui, it's too bland, lacking those features that could have improved the experience of a power user. For instance, maybe if you could change the direction of the internal antenna of the ODU, it would improve the performance. But that feature is not available on the MTN ODU. These are some of the things you can do on all Airtel ODUs.

Exactly. And maybe changing bands or cell locks can actually solve my issue. Unfortunately you cant
