enoch5553: Update on this
Nothing worked, Moved it to the roof - nothing Moved it outside - nothing Tried every corner of my house - nothing Band lock, Cell lock - nothing
And mind you this thing was going at 25mbps when I first got it
Either way this is the 12th day this thing has been going on had to subscribe on other devices for my work since the only thing the WiFi could do was stream.
I've called airtel each day within this 12 day period, kept on being told random deadlines from 24 hours to 72 hours to escalating to network engineer to escalating to HQ.
Within those 12 days no one from Airtel could tell me the reason until I managed to wrangle it out of one day before yesterday that apparently there's a packet loss in my area (Don't know how true that is or maybe the dude was just lying).
Currently I even think that they've marked my number because I called today twice, I escalated to supervisor twice then was kept on hold for upwards of 40minutes twice until the call cut itself. Had to use a separate number (Maybe I'm just paranoid tho)
Either way, I don't think I'll resubscribe for this. if when I pay for a 30 days subscription I'll only be able to use half before whatever this is occurs again (Although I was told that I'd be compensated when fixed but who knows). I've also reported to ncc (Don't know if that'll do anything after all na Naija we dey) and will post my experience on X cause I see other people experiencing the same thing
Unfortunately there's no MTN FibreX in my area so I'll just switch back to my previous ISP which is wifi.com. It's kinda just as slow but at least I get decent speeds towards the night and early morning.
Thank y'all for your tips and tricks that worked for you. Sadly it didn't work for me
Enjoy your day👋🏿 Sorry man. What I usually do is to contact them via twitter, they'll ask for router phone number, say it's not unique to you but a general network issue with ur area. They'll ask u to fill out some details, then in about 48hrs u should be on. This has always worked for me. |

Every night from 8-10pm network is stuck at about 2mbps. It's crazy how consistent this is. From 11pm till next day 7pm it's 50mbps and above. |

Osyxcel: That's Band 3. I think Airtel has issues with their Band 7 (both 3256 & 3400) today. Thankfully B3 was okay. This could be peculiar to my location though.
That's one of the disadvantages of Band/Cell locking. Band 3 here is garbage. Infact all bands are just so bad only upload speeds are great. |

This impersonation and thread interception thing is very common and has been going on for long sha.
I'm very confident it's not Morikee.
I don't know why Seun has refused to implement direct messaging on nairaland. |

Maybe this installation and activation delay thing is unique to some locations. |

I don't support what Trippledot did. Marking up by a whole 400k off one item in the entire project begs the question how much mark up was done on other items. U still went ahead to charge premium for your services.
Even the builder isn't making such profit per unit. Let's stop pretending, nobody would give a project to a contractor after discovering such huge mark ups. It's pure greed. Nothing else.
I will call you out, just like I'll send warning out to my friends if a contractor tries to bank off my ignorance. Not saying you shouldn't eat, but 400k for a single item without giving me the feature packed one is pure greed man. Do the right thing. |

Lilsameey: Hi, I use the airtel 5g smartbox and my current location is about 15-20 minutes walk to the nearest Airtel Mast and when I got the router last year, I used to get the 5g lights, infact all the lights are always on and green. But earlier this year, The 5g lights stopped displaying and sometimes just come on for few seconds or minutes and turn off. The service has detoriated drastically and now I only get four lights (without the 5g lights) on with the signal lights blue most times. I tried everything possible and infact, change the network to 4g and edit the bands to unselect most of them just like I saw on this threads. Paying the #30k and getting $hitty 20mbps network while I see people using the #25k 50mbps ODU plan makes me feel terrible. Does the ODU perform better than the 5g Smartbox and if anyone had a similiar experience? I will really appreciate your feedbacks. Get the ODU, you save 5k hehe. As for the bad network thing it's a very common thing with Airtel. Whenever you experience downtimes like this, contact them via Twitter DM. They'll ask for your router number, tell them the issue is not only specific to you, that it's a general poor network thing with your full area and other users are experiencing same. They'll ask you to fill out some information regarding your address e.t.c & in 2 days max you should be good. |

@dollarnaira and others. It's available on Jumia. Search li-ion by voltage and ah you should see one. Just checked Jumia, not available anymore. Helped someone order 4 cells pack last month for a rechargeable fan. |

NSEstudent: So I finally got my X17M ODU. A simple glance at the device shows ZTE G5F is a more premium device.
The X17M feels solid though. Even though it is smaller, it has a great build quality.
I tested it, I think G5F has better signal reception. Mounted them nearly on the same place and G5F has up to 4 network bars but X17M fluctuates between 1 and 0 when I locked both on band 7.
X17M got SINR 17 on band 7 while G5F got 22. When I have all bands active, G5F chose band 7 as primary whereas X17M chose band 3, apparently because band 3 is readily available here and it must have seen band 7 as scantily available being that it mostly has no signal bars. It chose band 8 as secondary too.
Practically, I don't see much difference. Network was poor when I tested and, although both read between 40 to 51mbs on speed test, ping went was high as 800.
17M gives me more flexibility, even though I know I will eventually settle with G5F. For instance, I casually plugged my ZTE MC801A into LAN2 of the ZLT's IDU and it instantly took off where it left off from G5F (I have been using it as the sole IDU for G5F) and became a secondary IDU, or you can call it an extender. This is good for me because that MC801A has all the devices I use connected and in the way I want. Its guest SSID feature is well configured to serve a maximum of one guest at a time, isolated from my main SSIDs.
Downside is that I needed to plug in another adapter, which I hate so much. The adapter powers the power bank that powers MC801A. I used G5F's UPS to power X17M (the DC output) and then power X17M from the IDU. That G5F UPS will maintain its position irrespective of the device I decide to use.
I'd be waiting to acquire HUAWEI ODU next. Until then... If I may ask, why are you gathering? Because if it's functionality you're looking for, I doubt you will notice much difference since it's a limited speed based plan. |

dollarnaira: Each time I see some comments of 24 or 48v I walked down to my treasured 12v system (14 yrs) and smile because it satisfies my needs. The only thing I don't do with it is cook. No be everybody won cook, run AC, boil water, etc. Gloryjoyeux lives either in banana island or a well balanced environment where people don't carry bucket looking for where to fetch water or carry phones in search of where to charge, the list is on.
12V SYSTEM WILL SATISFIED THE ENERGY NEEDS OF MORE THAN 80% OF NIGERIANS.
N.B: 12v is good, 24 is better and 48v is best. Choose according to your energy needs. Truly na who get sense dey..... In that 14yrz how long have you been on Lithium battery? |

lilclin: Ok. Goodluck Finally it's working well right now. I don't know if it was because of my initial complaint to Airtel yesterday or cause we turned the antenna one more time, but I noticed there's a new band 8 which wasn't present before and it corresponds with the improvement in speed. |

lilclin: If it's showing green then it should be working perfectly unless something is wrong so maybe just try the factory reset and see if it helps Ok thanks. I am thinking of swapping to physical sim first. Because back then on the X25Pro all it took to fix this was to remove the sim card, clean and insert back, that's if all parameters are showing Ok. Worked for me a few times. Will try swapping tomorrow. Will give feedback here. |
