American singer, Trey Songz has been arrested. The rapper was taken into custody on Sunday after he was caught having an altercation with a police officer at the AFC Championship Game. He was arrested and accused of trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

The incident took place during the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Songz was recorded getting into a physical altercation with a police officer. According to TMZ, the witnesses claimed that afterwards a police officer allegedly got physical with the rapper without provocation and that the alleged altercation was self-defense on Songz’ part. The Federal Government has opened diplomatic channels on the plight of Nigerians awaiting deportation from Saudi Arabia. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha said this at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing on Monday in Abuja.

Mustapha, the Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19, said that “Nigeria is currently working with the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the deportation of 600 Nigerians.”

He said that the deportees were expected to arrive in two batches on Jan. 28 and 29 and would be quarantined for 14 days in line with COVID-19 protocols. Recall that the affected Nigerians were reportedly arrested by Saudi authorities because they had stayed beyond their permits. On Friday, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), confirmed that the nationals would be flown home next week.

The Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has sacked 65 primary school teachers. SUBEB’s Auditor, Mr. Tandat Katuma, who served as the secretary of the investigation committee, confirmed the News to journalists in Gwantu, the Council headquarters saying the teachers were recruited illegally in the Sanga Local Government Area of the state.

The council Chairman, Mr. Charles Danladi, had on Wednesday alleged that the anomaly was detected through the over-bloated wage bill of the teachers, which kept increasing every month without new employment.

To this effect, an alarm was raised. Katuma said Danladi raised the alarm during the state’s Joint Account Committee Meeting, being chaired by the Deputy Governor and that SUBEB was asked to investigate the allegation. “After our investigation, we confirmed that 65 teachers were illegally recruited in the area. “Their appointments have been terminated. “You will recall that in 2017, the Kaduna State Government had organized a competency test for primary school teachers. “About 22,000 of the teachers failed the test and were sacked. “Our investigation uncovered that 16 out of the 65 were among the primary school teachers that failed the competency test in the LGA but were illegally reappointed. “The remaining 51 were illegally recruited during the first and second batches of the recruitment of 25,000 qualified teachers that replaced those sacked across the state,’’ Katuma told NAN. The auditor added that SUBEB officials involved in the illegal recruitment exercise had been sanctioned.

The Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir has lamented bitterly after a group of angry youths stormed his house setting it ablaze.
