There was pandemonium Monday morning as the People of Kano took to the streets protesting violently against the alleged killing of a 17-year-old boy Saifullahi. Saifullahi of Kofar Mata quarters was said to have been arrested 2 days ago by the police, while he was sleeping at his family house.

Reports have it that despite protests by the people of the community that he was never known for any criminal tendencies, he remained in police custody where he allegedly gave up the ghost.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that Saifullahi had been released on bail only for the police to re-arrest and detain him again, where he was allegedly tortured to death.

The police brought his corpse to the family house this morning, Monday, a development which angered the people to take to the streets and they started making bonfires in protests.

Mohammed Adamu, who happens to be the Inspector General (IG) of Police has set to bring a new unit to replace the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars).

The Force spokesman, Frank Mba, on Tuesday has confirmed in his statement that the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) will fill up the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) space ordered by IG.

Frank has confirmed that Mohammed Adamu (IG) has ordered all the disused SARS to report to their Force Headquarters in Abuja for questioning, medical and psychological checkup.

All the officer’s personnel are expected to pass through this mentioned process as a preparation to further their training and reorientation before being reemployed into policing duties.

The newly set up Police Counseling and Support Unit (PCSU) will carry out the health and medical examinations of each Sars personnel.

It also states that “the IGP newly set up Force “Special Weapons and Tactics” (SWAT) team will cover up and fill the space of the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars). “All members of the new team will also go through the same medical and psychological examination to check their eligibility and fitness for their new assignment.”

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has blamed former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, for being partly responsible for the weak infrastructural base in Nigeria. Fashola, speaking on Channels Television, claimed Obasanjo should have invested in capital projects across the country, instead of paying off external debts.

According to the Minister, if he had the $12 billion like the Olusegun Obasanjo government in 2005, he would have built rails and more roads.
In 2005/2006, the Paris Club wrote off $18 billion of the $30 billion Nigeria owed the cartel after months of negotiations.

Fashola said that rather than deploy the funds prudently, the Obasanjo government decided to pay the country’s creditors to the detriment of the country. According to him, that is why Nigeria has gone to borrowing.

“At one time in this country, in 2005, we had $12 billion. At that time, these roads were bad. At that time there was no rail. But what did we do as a matter of state policy, it was just to pay creditors to our own detriment.

“I can only imagine if I had the opportunity then with $12 billion in my hand, we would have built rails and roads. What this government is dealing with, which I am responsible for, is the infrastructure that will be enduring,” Fashola said.

A 3-year-old girl has died from a heart attac4k after ingesting cocaine brought into her home by her drug-dealer dad, a judge has ruled. The child, named in court only as K, was admitted to hospital with suspected sepsis or meningitis but collapsed and died on April 6, 2019. A post-mortem then revealed she had cocaine in her blood. Her parents blamed each other for bringing drugs into the property, with the dad claiming her mum had left cocaine in a bedroom drawer. Their other four children were removed from the household.
