President Muhammadu Buhari has urged religious leaders in the country to assist the government to overcome forces of destruction by enlightening their followers to guard against religious extremism and terrorism.

The President made the call when he received the leadership of Qadiriyya Islamic Movement in Africa at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.

According to him, Muslim leaders had a duty to promote the principles and tenets of Islam as a religion of peace and justice.

The President said those who “indoctrinate children and plant explosives on them to harm innocent people do not belong to any religion but terrorists who should be identified and fought until they give up their evil ways.’’

Buhari, who commended the Qadiriyya movement for promoting education, interfaith dialogue and good moral conduct in the society, expressed support for the proposed Islamic Centre in Abuja by the movement.

Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the Qadiriyya in Africa, Sheikh Qaribullah Kabara had congratulated the President on his emergence as his party’s candidate for the 2019 election.

He also commended the President on the achievements of his administration since coming into office, which he said included the diversification of the economy, increased power supply and food sufficiency.

The inauguration was preceeded by a series of snap shots by the executives and Their various supporters. The event saw the new President Sworn into office, after which he in turn swore his Executive minister into their various offices.

The executives swore a remarkable oath for their code of conduct for the various offices collectively and also pledged their allegiance to the School Management, the Union and The Students they are meant to serve.

Nigeria gained independence from the United Kingdom on 1 October 1960. And an Executive Council, made up entirely of Nigerians, was led by a Prime Minister, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Its first government was a coalition of conservative parties, and it came into power on the back of increasingly enthusiastic demands for political independence from colonial powers that swept across much of the African continent during the middle of the 20th Century.

The British recognised that the independence drive had started to gain traction after World War Two, and they steered the country – then the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria – toward a self-governance model.

The conservative coalition government that came into power on 1 October comprised the Nigerian People’s Congress (NPC), the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), and the Action Group (AG) constituted the opposition. The NPC was largely Hausa and Muslim, the NCNC mainly Igbo and Christian, and the AG mostly Yoruba and relatively liberal. The political divisions between the parties were obvious and acute.

Pirates have kidnapped 12 crew members from a Swiss cargo vessel in Nigerian waters. Massoel Shipping said its vessel, MV Glarus, was carrying wheat from Lagos to Port Harcourt when it was attacked on Saturday.

"The pirate gang boarded the Glarus by means of long ladders and cut the razor wire on deck," the firm told. The intruders struck 45 nautical miles from Bonny Island in the Niger Delta, taking 12 of the 19 crew hostage. A spokesman for Geneva-based Massoel said the pirates had "destroyed much of the vessel's communications equipment".

Seven of the crew members are from the Philippines, with a national from each of Slovenia, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia and Bosnia, Reuters reports, quoting Nigeria's maritime agency. The Massoel spokesman said the crew members' families are being closely informed of the situation.

Governor Rochas Okorocha, has lamented the high rate of damages rainfall in Imo State has caused his administration.

The governor who said the rainfall has destroyed almost all the road projects in the state, wondered ‘if the rainfall are acidic’.

Okorocha stated this on Monday during the swearing ceremony of Mr. Mark Uchendu, as the new Secretary to the Government of Imo state, 9 permanent secretaries and others by the acting solicitor Ministry of Justice, Chinyere Ibeh who represented Attorney General of Imo State.

Speaking during the ceremony, Okorocha said; “let me tell you the remaining 7 months left for me I will do the same I did in 7 years in office”.

“I am sorry for some of you who say that I have destroyed all the roads. It is because of the unprecedented rainfall. I wonder if the rains are acidic. I assure you that we will put them in order.

“I want to assure you that my people empowerment programme will kick off. It will start with the first names that will be submitted by the traditional rulers of our communities. My government is a government of the poor. I have come to save the lives of numerous poor Ndimo.

“We are going to begin to let our people know the projects we had done since the inception of this administration. What I am doing is to lay the foundation for any governor that will come into Imo state.

Describing his former chief of staff, Uche Nwosu as the incoming governor, Okorocha said; “When Uche Nwosu, becomes the governor, he will have no business building roads and developing the Owerri urban cities. Today, Uche Nwosu is the immediate past chief of staff, I pray that one day, I will shake you as the immediate past governor of Imo state.”

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the appointees, the SSG, Uchendu said: “I can’t not express all my happiness. All I can do is to give you assurance. If is a gene that no governor can transmit power properly to his successor I will break the gene.

“Udenwa did not and Ohakim did not. I will put my life and blood to see that I break that gene. Anybody that cannot deliver his ward has no business to be here.

Former Nigeria Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has told Senate President, Bukola Saraki that he will support him in his bid to become president just the way his late father supported him during his failed presidential ambition.

“It is my turn to do what your father did to me”, Babangida said.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

Many lifelong passions start in childhood. When parents see a son or daughter take a shine to art, or music, or sports, they wonder if it will stick with them.
Shridhar Chillal began a sort of hobby when he was very young, but it started because of a correction and an unintentional challenge.

“When I was a schoolboy,” he said, “we were once beaten badly by our teacher, because my friend broke his nail. The teacher had grown a very long nail.”

“We asked him why he had beaten us so much just for breaking his nail. He said that we would not understand as we had never grown long nails.”



“Unless we grew long nails, we would never understand the kind of care required not to break them,” Chillal continued. “After that we took it as a challenge and started to grown our own nails.”

It wasn’t easy, the path Chillal had chosen. As the people around him started to see that he was serious about his fascination with maintaining long nails, others began to ostracize him.



“As the nails grew, the problems started to increase,” he admitted. “First our family members opposed, then teachers were opposed, but I decided from that point on I would never cut my nails again.”

“Initially, difficulties appeared everywhere in my daily life. My family really didn’t like it. No one would wash my clothes, and I had to wash them by hand.”



“Finding a job was also difficult, as no one was ready to employ me. When I was to get married, no one was ready to marry me, I saw nearly 10-12 girls. If the girl agreed to marry, her parents would say I would strangle their daughter’s neck and refuse.”

He laughed as he recalled the memories. “If the parents agreed, the girl would say she would not marry such a dirty person,” he continued. “Finally, I got married to my elder brother’s sister-in-law at the age of 29.”

Life wasn’t easy for Chillal, who even had to sleep carefully so as not to damage his nails. In an interview with Inside Edition, his granddaughter said that whenever his nails grew out, he would fill them with a solution, which helped strengthen them.


Chillal started out on this odd journey in 1952. At the age of 82, after 66 years of growing out his nails, he felt quite accomplished.

“After being recognized by Guinness World Records, I felt like I had achieved the biggest goal in my life,” he said. “And now I can tell people wherever I go with pride about my title.”

Will you be taking a trip to see the world’s longest fingernails in person?

Not everyone makes it into the Guinness Book of World Records, but not everyone is thrilled with Chillal’s achievement either. It’s an impressive feat whether or not you’re a fan of the talon-like nails, spiraling into what look like Bighorn Sheep horns.

The combination of their weight and the amount of time Chillal has gone without moving his left hand has rendered it permanently handicapped, according to Guinness World Records. He cannot open his hand or flex his fingers.

“I am in pain,” he said. “With every heart beat all five fingers, my wrist, elbow and shoulder are hurting a lot and at the tip of the nail there’s a burning sensation always.”

According to The Guardian, after 66 years, Chillal was finally a free man. His nails were measured, cut with a power tool, and then displayed in New York at Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, and he is now the (proud?) recipient of a World Record.

Osogbo – Mr Clement Akanni, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Ila State Constituency in Osun House of Assembly, on Thursday, announced his defection from the ruling APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While explaining the reason behind his defection at the palace of Orangun of Ila, Akanni said he was forced out of the party by those he considered as political adversaries.

He complained about his community being sideline in government policies and programmes.

He also stated that whenever he tried to positively influence government policies to favour his constituents, he always face resistance form people within his party.

He said he cannot remain in APC again because he can’t used the party to champion the course of his people and it is best to move to another political party that would give him the needed support.

Similarly, Mr Peter Babalola, the Chairman of Osun Local Government Service Commission, and a chieftain of APC in the state, reportedly resigned his position from the Gov. Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.

Babalola, who was one of the aspirants that contested for the APC governorship ticket, in which Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola eventually emerged winner, explained in a letter addressed to Gov. Aregbesola that he resigned to pursue other endeavours.

5. Errands

Imagine the corn for the pap hasn't been ground, who will do that? Your father? No hunnay, You.

6. Laundry

The younger brother to the elusive leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, has berated the Embassy of Switzerland in Abuja for allegedly denying travelling visa to members of the family, following an invitation by the United Nations, UN, to the 116th United Nations Human Rights Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances.

Kanu’s family members were invited by UN as key witnesses of the mass murder allegedly committed by the Nigerian security operatives when the family compound was invaded on September 14, 2017, during the Operation Python Dance ll conducted by the Nigerian Army.

Speaking, Kanu said apart from the family, “key IPOB members who witnessed the genocide at Afaraukwu were also denied visas.”

In a statement, Kanu accused the Embassy of “conspiracy, collusion and unholy dealings with Abuja to frustrate the family and help the Nigerian state escape punishment.”

He claimed that some “Amazonians fleeing persecutions in the Cameroons were equally denied visa by the Swiss Embassy,” alleging that “it was a clear indication that the Embassy was colluding with oppressive administrations to suppress freedom fighters.”

Kanu decried what he termed “bad faith of the Swiss Embassy in constituting itself to an impediment to the family’s bid to get justice over the unprovoked invasion of the family house and the disappearance of our beloved ones including our parents, Eze Israel Kanu, the traditional ruler of Afaraukwu community and his wife, Lolo Sally Kanu.

“Some of our family members who were invited by the United Nations could not understand why they should be denied visas. Some Amazonians who fled Cameroun to Nigeria who were also invited to the United Nations by this same working group were also denied visas.

“For the fact that you house the world body does not give you the right to deny victims and key eyewitnesses of torture and genocide visas even when the same world body invited them.”
