President Yaradua back in the Country. Praise God |
@ cesky I just finished watching another episode about an hour ago on Africa magic. I noticed it 5 times in the company of my friends we noticed it together. And the bone of contention is the word GOD and not prayer. |
Hello NairaLanders, I want to ask if any of you watches the TV talk show ( Moments with Mo) on DSTV and NTA. It is a very nice talk show that meets international standards. However I have noticed a Negative about the show: Any time The word GOD is mentioned on the show, it is cut off or erased. This is so sad. I have noticed it not once, not twice. If you have not noticed, look out for it from now on. Even When Mo herself mentions GOD it is edited/erased. I wonder why this is so and why? It is very Sad and I wonder what they hope to achieve by doing that. The only answer that makes sense to me is that those behind it must be atheists. |
Hello Nairalanders, Does anybody know why AIT stopped showing the program "second chance" in the last few days. It was just beginning to get interesting when they stopped it. Does anybody please know if and when they will continue it? Galaxy TV started showing it earlier but they too started messing up buy showing a few episodes and then going back to the beginning of the series about 2 times. It was frustrating. I hope AIT is not following in the foot steps of galaxy by stopping the series in the last few days. |
Hello nairalanders, I have read thru all the posts and sympathise with all those that had horrible stories because i was a victim and to some extent still affects me till today. However I am overcoming this due to the love of Christ in my life. Sometimes when i remember it takes the Grace of God to forget. I have also made up my mind that my children will never go thru what I went thru because I want them to be happy emotionally and psychologically stable and most of all I want them to put God first in everything they do in life. B4 i start my story let me say this based on my experience: I pray that all singles yet to marry get married only once and marry the spouse God ordained for them & I pray they will stick together all the days of their lives by God's Grace. THIS PRAYER IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE because once this prayer is answered the issue of having a step mum will not arise. Do not get me wrong, even sticking to one's marriage still comes with its attendant problems & it is only via God's Grace love and Wisdom that sees or will see so many couples through (for those not married yet). God must be in that marriage for it to work. It is not by our power but by his Grace mercy and Love. When Parent's quarrel more times than not they ignore or are ignorant or do not bother about the effects broken marriages have on the children most especially when step mothers come in. And in a lot of cases the parents die years later leaving the children in problems. It takes the Grace of God for those children to get back on the right footing. Some of the children we see in cults are rooted in broken families. Such children saw very little or no love while growing up and felt they had no identity or root. Overtime they became very vulnerable and the slightest exposure to wrong company such as cults attracted them because they believed they could find some identity , security and love in such places. Unfortunately for them they end up worse off in the long run. However thank God for God, it is not over until its over. HE God is the only one that sees us through what ever challenges we face in life. Now in my case, my mother died when I was 10 years old. The following year my father married another woman who also had kids. They all moved into our house. This woman was so wicked that she called me one day at that tender age to tell me my days were numbered on earth. I could not tell my father because he never believed anything I said as it concerned her. There was a day my step mum put broken bits of glass in my food when i was about 12 years old. It was not visible in the food because It was beans and the glass was tucked deep inside the food. However, as God would have it the first scoop i took with my spoon exposed the glass immediately. I kept quiet I could not tell my dad. She did so many other things which I can not list here for the sake of time and space. A few years later my father seperated from her and married someone else. This new woman started to starve me with my father's knowledge. i was not giving food for months. It was at this point I realised she had jinxed my father. It was so bad that my father's driver helped me out of my hunger. He the driver was feeding me from his salary in the boys quarters for months. This new woman came into the house with her sisters, auntys family etc. In fact we the kids had no say. I was the youngest and the only one around amongst the children. After a few years this second woman was driven out of the house to my relief. However, my relief was short lived because my first step mum and my dad settled the differences b/w them and b4 I could say Jack Robinson she was back and this time in full force to revenge. She started given me stale food of a few days old and doing so many other things. By the time I got to University to get money for school became a problem. She would delay my getting money for sometimes up to a month and make me miss classes. However she always gave her own kids money immediately they requested for it. She also kept my fathers friends away from my father. It was a dark empty house. It was traumatic for me. I had developed to hate and had so many things bottled up in me. I found it difficult to show love when I was shown very little or no love. And I started to keep to myself and i started dwelling on my early dark years and it was starting to kill me as a person. A few years after my first step mother came back my father died under mysterious circumstances and it is believed she had a lot to do with it. After his death a lot of fetish things were found in her possession with my fathers name on it. If she had anything to do with his death, that is between her and her God. I leave it to God. I have not seen her since my father died many years ago. However she is very ill and has been battling with an ailment in the last few years. Today I have given my life to Christ and realise life is vanity. Today I have forgiven her so that I will not block my own blessings from God and most of all, God demands we forgive those that have offended us since HE God forgives us when we sin, who are we not to do same. I will say it was difficult to forgive but I had to do it. In summary I believe the number one lesson we victims of bad step mothers should learn is to make sure that the trauma we went through does not repeat itself in the lives of our children. Both Parents need to show love continuously to the kids so that may remain emotionally and psychologically stable and most of all make sure they o put God first in all they do in life. The second thing victims of bad step mums must do is to forgive such step mums no matter how difficult it may be because God says we must forgive. I pray God will give all victims the Grace to forgive them. |
Raymond Hi, It is amazing how you jump to conclusions that I am seeking for audience. The mere fact that you did not find anything when you searched with google does not necessarily mean it is not true. It was in the newspapers a few days ago. And mind you, the version of the papers on the net do not contain all the stories in the physical newspapers. The newspapers on the web are just extractions or a subset of all the stories in the physical newspapers. |
@ Poster for you to start such a thread you give one the impression you are a sadist. Like a lot of people have said how can you be wishing them bad. |
Tosin its ok. No Stress. |
Sagitarius hi, Thank you for helping me clarify what I said. What you said is exactly what I meant. Tosin seems to have taken what I said out of context. |
This is very sad. I heard it on radio yesterday during the newspaper review that timi, the winner of idols west africa 2007 was shot by militants. That is very painful. Please can any one confirm this. This guy has done the niger delta people proud. Ironically his own people shot him. Please nairalanders can you confirm this. |
Prince Charles Celebrated his 59th birthday in Redeemed Cristian Church of God (RCCG) on 14th November 2007. Excerpts from Punch Newspaper 25/11/2007. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Emotion was let loose on November 14 in London when Prince of Wales, Prince Charles celebrated his 59th birthday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House. Jesus House is the largest parish in the United Kingdom. He was in the company of his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Lady Camilla. Various dignitaries attended the service including the Bishop of London the Rt Hon Rev Richard John Carew Chartres the Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton and founder of The Alpha Course Rev Nicky Gumbel, the General Director of the Evangelical Alliance, Rev Joel Edwards, Resident Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Church, London, Pastor Yemisi Ashimolowo, local MP, Mr Andrew Dismore, leader of Barnet Council, Councillor Mike Freer and Madam Mayor, Councillor Maureen Braun. The Jesus House choir, ‘The Tribe of Judah’, led worship during the celebration. The Senior Pastor of Jesus House, Pastor Agu Irukwu encouraged the congregation to invest in the nourishing of not only their bodies but of their spirit and their souls. One of the highlights of the service was the spontaneous singing of Happy Birthday to Prince Charles. Charles, who was elated at the honour bestowed on him, commended the church for being a role model. He said, “In your church, you are doing the things that Jesus would do if he walked the streets of London today. You are all a marvellous example of how so many people whose families originate from the Commonwealth, have yourselves brought new life into the Christian church in the United Kingdom thereby completing the cycle started by missionaries from Britain so many years ago. So we have that to thank you for. “I can‘t tell you what a joy it is to worship with you today. All I can tell you is that there is nowhere I would rather be on my birthday.” Charles commended a great contribution made to the British society by a great number of churches operated by black people. “I want you to remember that it is highly appreciated by me and more and more by other people,” he said. “Too often, it seems that the media are interested in the negative and stereotypical but you, if I may say so, are a wonderful and shining example,” he said. He went further to initiate a possible collaboration between the Redeemed Christian Church of God and his charity initiative, The Prince‘s Trust. “I just want to say that during my meeting earlier with Pastors and Bishops we were talking about ways of developing collaboration and links between my Prince‘s Trust –– which is now 31 years old –– and the black churches, so that we will be able, hopefully as a result of the discussions, to work more closely together around the country.” The Duchess of Cornwall, Lady Camilla was also taken on a guided tour of Jesus House church office after the couple were presented with a birthday gift. |
@ Seun You should try and watch a complete episode. You will laugh tire. May be you should set a reminder on your phone as against the next episode. You can set it like 30 mins b4 the program starts. That is what I do when I want to watch any program on TV so I do not forget. |
@sect You are very right. Infact that was a what i was thinking of last night when I watched that episode. He will make a good stand up comedian. The guy is a real nuisance. He is very good. He got into the right profession. If you look at him at close up, facially he looks a bit like one of Channel O's presenter's Oboma. |
If this is true, that may explain why Kate has been of the air. She has not been on NTA's AM EXPRESS for a few months now. God that would be terrible. Such a sweet lovely thing. I really admire her on air. To Frank: IF THIS IS TRUE, no matter what she may have done, you have no right to beat her. IF you think u can beat her because she did some things wrong, remember that YOU yourself are not perfect. Beating her is babaric & definitely not the solution to the problem. It will only give her enough reason to love you less overtime. If you love her as you claim, beating her should make your heart bleed. She is a woman, not a punching bag. She has feelings and feels pain when she is hit. A punching bag does not. I saw both of you on AM express when she (your wife) coincidentally interviewed you earlier this year. You even cracked a joke and told her to say hello to her husband. You guys seems so cool together. Frank You are already a house hold name in Nigeria, Every Friday evening, millions of Nigerians round the country tune into you in the evening cause of your sense of humour and the way you handle the program brilliantly. You may not realise it, but you are becoming a brand in Nigeria if you are not already one. If this is true, you are on your way to ruining your image as a person and your career. It means you are using your hands to destroy what you have built. Frank I will stop here cause I am shocked and lost for words if any of this is true. I pray and hope it is not. May God deliver you if it is. Amen. |
In an interview , with the Nigerian Tribune at the end of his court case yesterday, adedibu said he is the controller of the Federal Government and that The NAFDAC Boss is a useless woman. Can you Imagine? Controller of the Federal Goverment. This guy's wings need to be curtailed. Pride cometh before a fall. Excerpts from the Interview. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q Baba, they are saying you should shut up for one year. A That is their application. They are just making an application. They are saying that they are making the application because there is likelihood of my committing an offence. But have I committed any offence? It is just an allegation. If you cannot substantiate that allegation, then what are you saying? Q You mean nobody can shut you up? A No, this country is being run by a written constitution. If I have committed no offence, there will be no reason for anybody to shut me up. Q Baba, are you happy with your bail conditions at all? A I’m very very happy. All these lawyers performed brilliantly well. Even the magistrate was fair enough. Q Although you are an elderly man, they are saying that you have always conducted yourself in breach of public peace. A Have I been charged at any time? Even now, with the present offence, can you say I was charged with any offence? Q That is the charge against you. A No. It is not. What they are saying is that I should be bound over an offence which they foresee I will commit. They never said I have committed any offence. Q Will you henceforth guard your utterances? A I will continue to make utterances. Something I have been saying in the last 57 years. Can anybody stop me from saying so? I am already 80 years. I am 58 years in politics. I have served for 58 years in politics. I have performed successfully well in politics. Q Would you say that your coming here is politically motivated? A Yes, it is part of politics. Q But you are a very strong man in the ruling PDP. A It means that democracy is established in the country. That is the rule of law. And I am very pleased. Q Will it be correct to say that you were disturbing the public peace? A No, let them correct themselves. If they say something which may happen. Q They said they brought you here for the fear that you could cause trouble. A That is their own side. Why should I cause trouble? I am the controller of the state government. I am the controller of the Federal Government. To whom will I cause trouble. Q Will you say your being brought here is related to your clash with the Director-General of NAFDAC? A That lady is useless (laughter). She was in my house before the election, showering praises on me. When she lost in her bid to become a minister, she started abusing everybody. May be she felt pained. That is her problem. Q Or maybe she was annoyed because you didn’t help her to become minister? A It is God who didn’t help her (laughter again). |
Hurray, God is great. It has just be announced (NTA Networknews 4PM, 15/11/2007) that Chief Lamidi Adedibu has been charged to a federal high court in Abuja on a 7 count charge. God is great. Finally the "mini god" , "untouchable" has been forced to realise that he is a mere mortal. Finally the law has taken its course. This was long overdue. In Ibadan alone, some of the terrible acts he is believed to have been behind include the following: 1. Beaten up people 2. Killing People 3 Taking peoples' property illegally such as land. It was just too much. I hope his first son Obasanjo (who described adedibu as the father of PDP) will be able to handle the shock. lol. Adedibu has just been a pain in the neck and a complete nuisance at 80. Please naira landers your opinion. NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW. |
IBB to run for president in 2011. What is he looking for judging by his past records. This is the height of obsession for power. Please read this article called from the nation newspaper 11/11/2007 and give your opinion. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Despite the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the December 8 convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is illegal, the battle to wrest the soul of the party from former president Olusegun Obasanjo is being intensified. Leading this onslaught is former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida. The Nation gathered that the mission tagged "Pay back time" by Babangida’s loyalists is aimed at positioning the Minna-born retired General ahead of the 2011 presidential primaries of the PDP. The agenda is to (in the short term) reduce Obasanjo’s hold on the party and (in the long term) possibly oust him from the party. The battle ground is the Eagle Square, Abuja venue of the convention which may hold at the end of the year or early next year. It was gathered that Babangida’s anger stems from the way he was treated by his former boss in the military between 1999 and 2007 when Obasanjo held sway as a civilian president. Babangida was a member of the Supreme Military Council (SMC) in the late 70s when Obasanjo was military head of state. While former Ebonyi State governor Dr. Sam Egwu is believed to be the candidate of Obasanjo for the chairmanship position, the Babangida forces have thrown up former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim as Dr. Ahmadu Ali’s successor. Although there are others in the race, it is believed Egwu and Anyim (both hail from Ebonyi) are the leading candidates. Penultimate Friday in Abuja, it was gathered that Babangida loyalists met to strategise on how to deal with the "Obasanjo faction" in the party and ultimately remove him as the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT). Babangida was said to have complained that in June 1998, he went to Ota, Ogun State shortly after Obasanjo was released from prison by former military Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar to convince him that he was the choice of the military establishment for the February 27, 1999 presidential election. Using military connections and some entrenched influences, especially in the North, Babangida and others manipulated the February 1999 presidential primaries of the party in Jos, Plateau State to favour Obasanjo. After winning the elections, he was eventually sworn in on Monday 29, 1999 and then the music changed. Babangida’s attempt to succeed Obasanjo was frustrated by the former president. Even Muhammad, Babangida’s son, was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a move seen as an attempt to cow Babangida to submission. Although it still cannot be confirmed, The Nation gathered that Babangida is interested in the 2011 presidential race. And he knows that for now, the only viable platform to realize the ambition is the PDP. As the BOT chairman, Obasanjo still wields some influence as Yar’Adua still kowtows to him. Obviously, the first target of Babangida’s attack, if he is to control the party, is Obasanjo, his structure or stooges in the party and government. It is believed that Babangida actively influenced the Integrity Group in the National Assembly led by Hon Farouk Lawan in forcing former Speaker Mrs. Patricia Olubunmi Etteh out of office. On June 5, Obasanjo influenced the emergence of Senator David Mark and Mrs. Etteh as senate President and Speaker. The next strategy of the Babangida group which controls the National Assembly is to sway Mark to its side and if he no longer amenable, plan for his impeachment. It was gathered that in the fight to battle Obasanjo to a standstill, the Babangida group is banking on three camps-Integrity Group, Northern Caucus and some governors. When Mrs. Etteh was forced to resign and she was to be replaced, all the Northern Representatives voted for Hon. Dimeji Bankole. During the convention, it is obvious that governors will control majority of the delegates. A former senator said on Thursday that the Babangida group is already persuading some of these governors to back former Senate President Pius Anyim during the convention. The thinking is that if members of the Integrity Group and most delegates from the north vote for Anyim, victory is certain. And once Anyim becomes the chairman, it is matter of days before Obasanjo is shown the way out the way he removed his predecessor Chief Tony Anenih. A source said once this is done, the real battle will now begin. The strategy is to deny Yar’Adua ticket for his re-election in 2011 and make Babangida the beneficiary. View Guestbook |
@Poster I agree with Niyyie. There is no harm in government assisting him. After all he has done a service to the nation. There are many other people who have been in government since Independence to date that are supposed to have served us. Instead of serving us they have looted the treasury. If government can help him, why not? It is because of such situations that make it difficult for Nigerians to be patriotic. |
Abike Dabiri a fellow speaker and well respected woman said how can Etteh expect to rule over her own case, that that is not a quality of a good leader. It is not done any where in the world. (1) No work has been done in the 4 months since the house resumed. (2) A fellow speaker died as a result of her stubbornness (That alone should have made her resign. It showed she was not remorseful) (3) She wanted to preside over her own Investigation. Very Absurd. (4) As at friday the 26th of October she wanted to go to court to defend herself. "Haba !!! Sister Etteh Omo Ikire which wan?" From the above 4 factors alone it shows she does not have leadership qualities and as a result should not have been made the speaker in the first place. Compared to Reputable women like of Okonjo-Iweala, Abike Dabiri, Dora Akinyuli, Izekwesili (not sure about the spelling, A.K.A. madam due process the former minister of education in the immediate past government), Etteh is a disgrace to womanhood. |
I do not know whether Desmond is gay or not. All i know is that he that is without sin should cast the first stone. |
Scatter, I agree with Siena that is harsh. However my contribution has to do with our attitude generally to HIV + people on the average and not with specific reference to Robert. You know life is funny. Human Beings on the average reject HIV positive people. That in itself "kills" them faster than HIV itself. Meanwhile if the HIV negative earthlings who reject HIV Positive people where HIV positive themselves (God Forbid but just if), how would they feel if they were rejected. Food For thought. However, half the time HIV negative people do not want to even imagine themselves in such a situation for 1 sec. Lets show love to HIV Positive possible as much as possible. It can happen to any body in the sense that it is not necessarily contacted through sex alone. People get it through unsuspecting means. There was a case in the newspapers some time in 2006 about a boy who contacted it from blood in Suya. The Suya seller was HIV positive and somehow his blood got onto the sticks /suya he was selling. Shocking right? Another case in point was the late black tennis player Arthur Ashe who was the 1st black man to win Wimbledon. He contacted the virus during a dental operation. It is the Grace of God that protects us. And since we have that Grace we should not humiliate HIV + people by rejecting them. The mental trauma some of them are going through is already heavy enough for them. We should not add to it. |
