Greetings UmuChineke,

Our attention has been drawn to the deliberate misrepresentation/falsehood and wrong narratives being perpetuated by some mischief makers, and which is unfortunately gradually gaining prominence on social media platforms and print media. Hence, it is pertinent that we provide clarification and clear the doubt.

S.M. Labaran Esq., who stood in yesterday for the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation is a colleague I hold in high esteem, but I shall resist every mischievous ploy being adopted to misinform the unsuspecting members of the public who were not privy to the details of the proceedings in court yesterday, with a wrong and mischievous interpretation of the purport of the Plea taken by our indefatigable Client - Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

For the records, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never denied being the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) while taking his plea, but only STOUTLY DENIED THE FACT THAT IPOB IS A TERRORIST ORGANISATION AND THAT BEING ITS LEADER IS AN OFFENCE, which position is well informed.

Members of the Public should be well guided that the status of the black market order proscribing IPOB is a subject of Appeal in Appeal Number: APPEAL NO. CA/A/214/2018, pending before the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division.

That being said, it is only laughable that the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in their desperate but futile attempt to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it, brought a charge bordering on the status of IPOB, a subject matter of a competent Appeal, where issues has been joined with the same FGN.

Therefore, be properly guided UmuChineke, because we have sufficiently addressed the emptiness of that count and entire charge in our compelling Submissions before the Court, now adjourned to be heard on the 16th day of February, 2022.

We do not wish to dwell further on this subject, but be rightly informed that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never denied being the Leader of IPOB while taking his Plea yesterday.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alleged that the suspected cult members and other criminals arrested by security operatives recently in Anambra and Imo states are working for Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.
The group tasked security agents to let the law take its full course against criminals but added that innocent persons should be released.

According to a statement by the IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, which was obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday, the cultists are being sponsored to implicate its members.


It partly read, "The attention of the global family of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great prophet and indefatigable liberator Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, has been drawn to media reports about a camp of criminals and cultists busted by security agents in Orsumoghu, Anambra State; and Orsuihiteukwu in Orlu, Imo State.


"These cultists arrested in these camps are certainly the monsters created by the Supreme Court Administrator in Imo State, Hope Uzodinma to demonise our gallant ESN (Eastern Security Network) operatives

These vampires have been impersonating ESN operatives and terrorising many communities in Biafran land.


"The Imo State Supreme Court Administrator Hope Uzodinma and APC (All Progressives Congress) party created these vampires thinking they can demonise ESN and IPOB but unfortunately the monsters turned against the innocent people of Biafra.


"Nemesis has caught up with them, the same way their sponsors will soon meet their Waterloo and Biafra land will be rid of them!"


IPOB also denied claims that the arrested persons are members of its militia arm, Eastern Security Network (ESN).


Powerful also mentioned some names of some suspected criminals allegedly perpetrating acts of criminality in the South-East region, adding that they will soon be dealt with.

Those arrested by joint security forces are not ESN members. They are Hope Uzodinma's boys who he created to demonise IPOB and ESN operatives. For record purposes, ESN does not indulge in criminality or write letters to people or make calls to people, requesting funds.


"IPOB and ESN have no dealings with criminal activities of these criminals as they are also on ESN watch list. But security (operatives) must investigate thoroughly and free the innocent people who were victims of their invasion and arrest. Not all are the perpetrators of this crime, some are criminals while some are not, let the law take its cause on those found guilty.


"The IPOB leadership wishes to draw the attention of the good people of Biafra, especially in the affected communities in Anambra and Imo states that through intelligence we have uncovered some other impostors using ESN to unleash mayhem on our people.

Some of them include Emmanuel aka (Obereagu); Innocent Obiekee from Isingwu Orsumoghu; Izuchukwu from Amaduru Orsumoghu; Ofordie aka Baby.”

The group alleged that the people indulge in kidnapping, carjacking, cannibalism and rape.


"We assure the affected communities in Orsumoghu, Orsuihiteukwa, Awo Idemili, Orlu LGA, Nnewi South LGA, Nnempi, Ibiasoegbe, Lilu Town and other communities being terrorised by these hoodlums and miscreants to stay calm, that normalcy will return to their communities soon," the statement added.

The United Nations has made “urgent appeals” to the Nigerian and Kenya governments to explain the “illegal arrest and extradition” of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Igbere TV has learnt.
In the UN document, dated, August 26, obtained by SaharaReporters, the UN said the Nigerian and Kenyan governments should furnish it with details of how Kanu was arrested and illegally brought to Nigeria.

In a release, Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Kingsley Kanu, said he, working with the lawyers, undertook the interventions to the United Nations, which required the details to be kept confidential for 60 days.
The release is titled, “‘Urgent Appeals’ in the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu against Nigeria and Kenya.”
Kingsley said, “Following the extraordinary rendition of my older brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I undertook a number of urgent steps within the realm of the international community, particularly in Britain and the United Nations. I worked quietly with my brother’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor and the Bindmans (my brother’s lawyers in Britain) on a host of muscular interventions aimed at presenting my brother’s case to the international community and facilitating his unconditional release and bringing the culprits of his illegal rendition to account.
“These interventions were not made known to the general public because the applicable rules, especially that of the United Nations, required them to be kept confidential for sixty days.
“Those 60 days just expired and the United Nations has therefore made public the details of its ‘Urgent Appeals’ to the Nigerian and Kenyan Governments, which were transmitted since 26th August, 2021. It also has made public an acknowledgment it received on 17th September, 2021 from the ‘Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Nations’.
“Both documents are attached to this Press Release. In particular, the said Urgent Appeals states in part that the United Nations is ‘alarmed by the alleged torture and ill-treatment Mr. Kanu has been subjected to during his illegal custody in Kenya. If confirmed, these allegations would constitute prima facie violations of fundamental human rights, including the right not to be arbitrarily deprived of liberty, and the absolute and non-derogable prohibition of torture and other ill-treatment under the International Covenant on Political and Civil Rights (ICCPR)”.

Further, the Urgent Appeals states that ‘The allegations in the case of Mr. Kanu raise serious violations of international human rights law and may cause irreparable damage to his life or personal integrity, which we believe warrants prompt attention. In this regard, we are considering to publicly express our concerns in this case in the near future, believing that the wider public should be informed about the implications of these allegations for the enjoyment and exercise of human rights in Kenya and Nigeria. Any public expression of concern in this regard, will indicate that we have been in contact with your Excellency’s Government to clarify the issue/s in question’.
“Continuing, the United Nations stated that ‘While awaiting a reply, we urge that all necessary interim measures be taken to prevent any irreparable damage to the life or personal integrity of Mr. Kanu, halt the alleged violations and prevent their re-occurrence and in the event that the investigations support or suggest the allegations to be correct, to ensure the accountability of any person responsible of the alleged violations’.
“It is important to emphasize that this is just the beginning of more United Nations and other global strong actions that would be seen in the coming weeks. While we await for such actions to unfold, we wish to inform the public that we will remain resolute and relentless in bringing the full weight of the international community to bear on the unconditional release of me brother and leader without further delay.”

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has reaffirmed its preference for a presidential candidate from the Yoruba Muslim stock.
The group warned that any party that picks a Yoruba Christian as its 2023 candidate should forget Muslim votes.

“No political party should tell us that they cannot find competent Yoruba Muslims”, Professor Ishaq Akintola said on Monday.

A statement by the Director said no Yoruba Muslim ever occupied the State House either as president or vice president since 1960.

MURIC advised presidential aspirants and parties mapping out strategies for the next general elections to heed its call.

Akintola condemned the “stigmatisation galore” for Yoruba Muslims in Nigeria since independence.

The organization claimed they are denied almost all civil liberties, including admission into schools.

Akintola alleged many cannot get international passports, driving licences and voter registration cards because they are asked to remove their hijab for capturing.

He said schools humiliate hijab-wearing female Muslim students while the courts in the South-West are littered with litigations “on this ignoble stereotyping”.

“It is our belief that Yoruba Muslims need federal might to eliminate or at least scale down the tornado of oppression and the Tsunami of anti-Muslim sentiment.

Only a Yoruba Muslim president who knows what has been happening can do this effectively. Who feels it, knows it”, Akintola insisted.

MURIC added that its position was not a categorical rejection of a Christian presidential candidate in 2023.
