dalaman: The problem is the starting point of the believer is that his/her religious books (Bible, Koran, Verders, Book of Mormon, etc) is the word of God. Those books to them aren't read or supposed to be read with a critical eye, but to the believer those books are supposed to be read with devotion, reverence and awe. To them reading these books are acts of worship. Any questions raised about these books are not welcomed. What believers are supposed to do is to keep hailing these books no matter what is written inside them. That is why believers are so angry and scornful of doubt. Because doubt is essential to any true critical thinking and believers do not want to subject their faith to such at all. They are emotionally attached to their beliefs and will always want it to be true regardless of anything. No believer wants to even accept their their religious book which they have been indoctrinated with is not the word of the creator of the universe but the words of fallible men. That is why believers are angry and want people to respect their religious books no matter what. The thing is they are hypocrites because they do not accord the same respect to the religious books of others they were not indoctrinated with. A good example is the christian and muslim endless madness. I think it goes like this Mr x.. I have seen a man who lives in mushin that is hair weighs 1kg Mr y ... What do you take me for. A fool. Prove it . Mr x... Why can't u just believe. You can choose to believe. Mr y.... No . You have to prove it or shut up. Mr x.... Okay Im sorry. I can't. Mr x ..... I once saw a lion in a zoo speak to me in yoruba . Mr y... You must be suffering from a mental illness. Mr x.... I have seen a snake that can kill you just by looking at you Mr y... ( picks up phone and Googles if there is any extant species like that) Sorry there has never been any snake like that. Where did you hear such a ridiculous thing like that. Mr x. The Bible says that a donkey talked to its owner Mr y.. Umm you see the word of God is always right. Mr x but where is the proof. Mr y.. Umm. We walk not by sight but by faith Mr x. The Bible also says absalom hair which he cut once a year weighed 2.6 kg. Where is the proof Mr y. Umm. We walk not by faith but by sight. Can't you just force yourself to believe. Why are you allowing the devil to make you disbelieve. Mr x.. Why are you reasoning in such a foolish manner Mr y.. You see. I am willing to be a fool for Christ. The book of corinthians says we should be fools for Christ. Mr x... Um okay. May wisdom always be far away from you. Mr y..... Amen. |

joseph1013: WHY YOU BELIEVE
You are a believer; I'm not. Let's take a moment for honest reflection.
You know your god is the god you were raised to believe in. You know other people believe just as strongly in other gods and other religions. What convinces you that you've got it right is that it seems to work. Sometimes your prayers are answered and sometimes you feel close to God, you may even sense God talking to you and feel amazing.
You think there must be a god--how else can everything be explained: the universe; life; the laws of nature? So it all makes sense. You see that god explains everything. It's perfect.
But there are other things you know too you don't often think about.
You know that other gods and other religions work too. Believers in these gods think their prayers are answered and feel close to their gods and feel amazing. What you ignore is what this means. Unless you accept that there are a lot of gods, you know deep down that non-existent gods can appear to answer prayers and make you feel amazing. You know this means humans are capable of creating these feelings in their own brains.
Furthermore, if your god can explain the universe, life and everything else, then so could the other gods. And you know, you really DO know, that these unexplained things MAY turn out to have perfectly natural explanations that are just waiting for us to discover, just as we discovered the causes of earthquakes and lightning.
You know humans have worshipped gods for thousands of years--many, many different gods. So you know many gods have been INVENTED by humans. The question you should ask yourself is this; is it possible that ALL gods were invented by humans? You know the answer to this question too. The answer is "yes".
This does not necessarily mean there are no gods. But it does mean the reasons you believe your god is real are not valid reasons. They are excuses for believing.
Does it really make sense to hold strong beliefs when all you have are excuses? You get as much answers to your prayers to God as praying to a bottle of coke |

ayoku777: Isaiah 53v10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand
The seed are the new creation in Christ Jesus. Those born again through faith in Christ.
Gal 3v29 - And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Romans 9v8 -That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
So believers in Christ Jesus, those born of the Spirit; they are the seed. Sharaap. You don dey interprete seed figuratively wen e no fit your doctrine |

ayoku777: Isaiah 53v5 -5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all
This is one of many messianic prophecies that prove that, redemption from sin was always intended by God to be through Christ's substitutive death for us.
Infact the whole of the Isaiah chapter 53 is an answer to your question. And there are even others.
Shalom Brother why stop there read the chapter further it says this servant shall have his days prolonged and shall see his seed. In the Bible isreal is referred to frequently as god's servant. Every one is to be put to death for his own sin. [Deuteronomy 24:16] |

Yahweh the ever changing Lord.
“And Yahweh regretted that he had made mankind on the earth and he was grieved to his heart” (Gen 6:6).
And omniscient God knew that the humans he would create would turn out bad and yet he still created them that way and he then regrets it.
Anyway it's not like an omnipotent God can stop his creation from turning out bad. It's not like he was able to stop the talking snake from being in the garden in the first place.
Now this perfect God yahweh created the rainbow as a reminder so that when he wants to destroy the earth again the rainbow would make him "remember his promise" and change his mind.
Humans need reminders due to biological limitations that prevent us from forgetting but not a perfect God. |

ayoku777: You seriously are acting like a kid now.
If God changes a system, a constitution, is it God that changed or He changed something?
God never changes, but He changes things and people.
All the dispensations are progressive revelations of God to us, to help us know Him. Of which Christ Himself is the fulness of that revelation.
If you move your child from geometry to calculus, to differentials to physics, are you the one changing, or taking your child on a journey of knowledge to become more like you?
God never changes, but He changes dispensations and revelations, covenants and commandments to make us grow from glory to glory in Him.
Is that too hard? Yahweh behaves exactly like Allah changing his covenant and revelations from Torah to the gospel to the quran |

ayoku777: Because the law served a purpose. It was to bring men to the end of themselves.
The bible said, the lamb of God (Jesus) was slain from the foundation of the earth. Meaning salvation by grace was always God's original plan for man's redemption since the beginning.
It wasn't an after-thought, as if God discovered His law won't work, then He decided to opt for plan B. Absolutely not!
Please read the link I posted earlier

He also recommend to his followers to lie about being muslims (I.e pretend to be onmuslims) to mix freely with the non muslims, avoid prosecution. A lot of Shias now practise this as al taqiyya to promote Islam. There are many other instances but you know already if u read ur hadiths. Finally, Have u ever slept with a child?
