I mostly didn't get the humour, a few chuckles here am there, but the story was very touching for me. Taika Waititi sure knows how to take a serious subject matter and turn it into a carricature while at the same time being able to strike an emotional cord in the viewer.
The fancy cinematography was appealing to my eyes, so was the Dame; Scarlett Johansson and the performance of the casts was quite notable, except maybe Taika Waititi's.
But Bleep it, that heil Hitler scene was fvcking Hilarious! Pls where did you download it from ? The ones they have on yts and katcr aren't clear at all. |

So you see, his mere declaration of this automatically makes him a target. If that was so , they would have showed intentions to kill the incumbent mayor but they didn't because they were just against the rich. |

mekaprime: The movie definitely said nothing in that regard, but from the killing of the Prominent Tv presenter & Thomas Wayne, it's safe to infer that the targets were rich folks who were somehow connected to the affairs of government, & rich folks who control the factors of production, actual production and distribution of goods & services & other basis amenities. But the tv presenter had nothing to do with the govt, the masked clowns praised the joker for killing him because he was rich and there is no proof that Thomas Wayne was connected to the govt. All he wanted to do was to run for Mayor. His family don already hammer hundreds of years ago. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_EnterprisesThomas Wayne is not like Dino and Rochas that used govt coffers to fatten themselves. Remember that the masked clowns were saying " Bleep the rich , Bleep Thomas Wayne. The newspaper below talks about a new movement that wanted to kill rich people. RESIST is written on the placard below . That is ANTIFAS main slogan.A well known group that hates on rich people

mekaprime: If Nigeria were to be Gotham, people like Rochas, Dino et.al & wealthy business folks who control core production & distribution of basic social amenities(under privatization) & have failed to deliver, those are the folks who would be revolted against. Did you know that Joker 2019 movie is based on New York of the 1980s. In 1980s the city was almost bankrupt so they had to cut funding for a lot of things and that includes funding for mental health care. In New York of that time unemployment was rife and the city was decaying. But yet , the people who were suffering did not take it up against rich people simply because the the rich people weren't responsible for their lot in life And again Thomas Wayne is not like rochas and Dino , Thomas Wayne's family built their wealth from the scratch hundreds of years ago. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by urahara(m): 9:25pm On Feb 02, 2020 |
mekaprime: Is there a difference between the rich & the ruling class? As for me, I'd say no, cause the ruling class is made up of the rich/the creme de la creme/the high class/the wealthy and not the proletarians. The ruling class in the u.s and many other developed countries is made up of more of middle class people than wealthy. Those ones don't make bastard money like Nigerian politicians. And even if the ruling class in the u.s or in Gotham's case is made up of rich people , let's note that that doesn't make all rich people part of the ruling class.E.g Wizkid , Seun osewa , Mark Zuckerberg , Linda ikeji , though they are rich, they aren't part of the ruling class. mekaprime: I would rather say it was an act of not giving a sh.it about anything that has to do with the poor. Not taking mental illnesses seriously appears under poor health care, & it was one of the many pointers that translates that the government wasn't working & doesn't care about the ruled, who are majorly proletarians.
. Again the masked clowns ought to have taken their anger out on the govt and not on the rich. Those masked clowns seemed to allude to present day ANTIFA in the u.s ( anti - capitalists ) When the govt wanted to remove fuel subsidy , we as Nigerians were angry with the govt and definitely not the rich people. Even the poorest of Nigerians will not think of going to murder rich people just because of unemployment. If people want to revolt, they ought to do so against the govt and not on rich people. Rich people are not the govt and are not responsible for anybody's misfortune

mekaprime: And as for the argument, what you've to understand is that the government is made up of the elites, there are no proletariats in government or in power, it's usually the elites who run & control the government. yh but one point I made was that when the jokers therapist got cut off from funding , it wasn't an act of not caring for the poor , it was an act of not taking mental illnesses seriously. |

the elite run and control the government dude.
i don't have the energy to argue about something ewu n' okuko ma.
believe what you want to believe.
the end. You have failed to explain why even in the u.s when things go wrong its the govt that gets the blame and not any foolish Elite you have been mentioning. The psychiatrist herself said that they ( the govt ) didn't give a shit about people with mental problems not poor people but people with mental problems. When fuel subsidy was removed , Nigerians and I'm very sure even you didn't go and start blaming Otedola and Mike adenuga for the fuel subsidy removal . Complaints were made to the govt. If you didn't have the energy to argue you should never have quoted me in the first place. You are just someone that is parroting what you must have been hearing all around you without given somethings much thoughts. If you can't argue reasonably , don't quote me |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by urahara(m): 2:11pm On Feb 02, 2020 |
DandeNumeruno: all through the film. it's the underlining theme of the movie.
a)the therapist that therapizes arthur got her office shut down because the city elite didn't give a shit about the ordinary people. It's not because the city elite didn't care about poor people , it's because the govt didn't give a shit about " people like Arthur " i.e people with mental illnesses. The therapist that Arthur was going to was reliant upon the government for funding. If roads go bad and if govt hospitals or govt organisations that are meant to help the needy go out of service , it's not Dangote or Otedola you will blame. You will blame the govt. DandeNumeruno: b)arthur got beaten up by upper middle class bullies for nothing other than he was a clown.
it was everywhere but subtle. Arthur got beaten up by upper middle class eople and he also got beaten up by just some random regular kids. His colleague that gave him that gun and reported to his boss was a poor person like him. Arthur himself said it that everybody was so mean , notice that he even told Murray that he was dressed up as a clown not to protest as he didn't " believe in any of that stuff ". DandeNumeruno: if a broken system favours someone that has more money than you, are you telling me that you will not resent that person? Again no where in the film is it implied that there was a system favouring the rich. The poor people were simply bitter that the rich people were rich. Heck even in Nigeria that things are really bleeped up , you can't see a poor man resenting or wanting to kill a rich person simply because that person is rich. |
