@ House: Nice to be with you again. I was so busy recently with sch. Had orientation and a couple of meetings. Also a training for our new iPads. So, what's good? When do SPRING hopefuls begin interviews? Let's GO THERE, |

@ Veterans : Please sheathe your swords. ABEG, we don't need all this. We don't need to prove Nigerians hate themselves so bad. Let us forget all this and FOCUS on others who need help with their Student Visas. Just for this Thread that helped you all, abeg. |

@ NIGERIANS: Let us LOVE ourselves and HELP ourselves. This is the point. To be honest, I have heard there are many Nigerians doing shady things in Yankee. But then, there are still good ones. I pray to meet only good ones. |

@ Kay Dee: infact the Indians really help themselves. Less than one week after arrival, they had a big Indian welcome party for themselves with linking up etc. Whereas, no single nigerian even cared whether I arrived or not. Even when I went to dubai, it was thesame thing, Nigerians running away from Nigerians. Nigerians hate themselves that is why the country lacks progress. |
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by USBound: 11:07pm On Sep 18, 2011 |
@ Kay-Dee: I am in San Francisco and honestly, blacks are really scarce here. Atimes, I'm the only black guy in the train. Strange! I have not met any Nigerian apart from two or three in my school. But djunit's advice to run from Nigerians in Yankee seems to make some sense, as in, people also advise thesame. Anyway, I'm sure there are some good nigerians. @Imperiouxx: I don't think the advice concerns people like you or me who are new to the States. I believe it is Nigerians who have been here for so long that he is talking about. |

@ djunit1: abeg update me. Are naija people in yankee bad? How? I know it's not all, but why should I run? Where I am staying in California, there are few nigerian people, infact very rare, and I've been trying to look for some. But now that u say 'RUN', I need info so as to protect my self. How far? djunit1: |

@ Ojap: Let him go for an electrical aspect of Petroleum Engineering, at least I've heard of Refinery Design - B.S Electrical Engineering should be eligible for that plus more. More google research can do it. |

@djunit1@ Imperiouxx :Thanks for the advice. I am grateful. @HOUSE: I want to thank you all for your support, counsel and support. I'm now in the US with my new friends and room mates who are also classmates. I do not believe I could I have made it without this thread. I am grateful. Now, it's time for business - school- and I'm looking for more nairalanders in my city. May God bless all our efforts with SUCCESS. Thank you all. |

@ Imperioux: Thanks for keeping the thread alive. Looking forward to your SUCCESS. @ Clever dude: Why not do as Imperioux says? As in, add a sponsor rather than change totally. @ HOUSE: Nobody don get visa? Wetin dey happen? |

@young nick: 50 GRAND? Men, that's terrible. From now on, ask all your questions here and do everything for yourself. It is not that hard. Sorry. |

@Cleverdude: what they need to see is your final balance. It has to be sufficient. @WARYZ: Try calming down. It's not by hustling. Pray a little. Then, put together your case, make it simple and valid. You are 19 years, you should get it. Really research your school, change your sponsor and post your case here for more advice until it's straightforward. All the best. @Imperiouxx: Thanks for keeping the thread alive. I'm sure u'll get it. But how is VO the reason u changed from PhD to MS? I was also trying to go for PhD without MS but the schools i spoke to said it's only available to first class graduates from North America. If u don't mind, pls indicate your sch on my yahoo messenger. Thanks. @ALL IN THE HOUSE: I greet una o! |

I agree. @ Veterans in the HOUSE: Let's not distract this thread. Abeg, it is still helping people. Abeg. My RECOMMENDATION: Those who want to help intending Visa Applicants to know about the ECONOMIC REALITY in the US should CREATE A NEW THREAD for that purpose. I want to suggest that POSTING on that Thread should be restricted to those who have been to the US and are BACK TO NIGERIA. Otherwise, your advise will be interpreted to be lies and discouragement even though what you are saying is actually THE TRUTH. Like Nairaspace said :'WHO NO GO NO KNOW'. imperiouxx: |

@Oyewolejos, Aroy1 et al: I am sorry to disappoint you guys but I NEVER wanted to go to the US. I am only going now because I MUST go. Okay? I am 30 and had good chances before now of migrating to the US but never believed the US was a Paradise or Bed of Roses. So I stayed put in Nigeria and lost those chances. Maybe u guys believed the lie that once you travel, IT IS DONE. That is why you are frustrated. If you kept a realistic view in mind and prepared your finances, I don't see why this thing that is being blabbed from CNN everyday should degenerate into some quarrel. Let me spell it loud, THE AMERICAN ECONOMY IS COLLAPSING. So guys, belt up. What I am tired of is people who keep saying 'it is tough', 'it is tough' yet they stay put in America. PLEASE COME BACK FIRST before posting any further advice. Finally, advice is different from discouragement. It is true that it is TOUGH out there, infact the way it is TOUGH here in Nigeria. But then, let me ask you, are people not making it here in Nigeria? Are people not also making it in the US? The truth is SUCCESS is everywhere, thesame way FAILURE is everywhere. |

@Nethacker, Aroy1, djunit1 etc: You guys are acting funny. Number one, this thread was never set up to establish if Yankee is easy or tough but to get student visa in Nigeria, plain and simple. Number two, the reason why folks here will not listen to you is because you are still there. Why not COME BACK to Nigeria and then your advice will be more believable? I have a friend who came back from London saying 'london is tough, london is tough'. Two years later, he is happily married with a kid and just moved to his own house (duplex) in Lagos. The only advice he gives to young people is 'you can make it here in Nigeria, FORGET TRAVEL'. Do you know why people listen to him? Because he CAME BACK here to Nigeria. Abeg, like imperioux said 'Life is a battle field but we still pray to live long in it'. Right now, you guys have no RIGHT to post that advice until you are BACK here in Nigeria. Okay? N.B: I have not said Yankee is easy. If you watch the News, you should know about the US Economic Recession, Debt Debacle etc. fagbon01: |

One thing, i believe, VO's don't want to hear is 'STORIES'. They want facts which they will not verify. Where you are working is okay, abeg next time, have a good line up of your achievements and working experience ready; certificates, diplomas etc no matter how simple. |

@djunit1: I said, ONCE UPON A TIME. It's a proverb. We were all born babies before we crawled, walked, run and some people even fly, some can teleport, some evaporate. But, once upon a time, we were all babies. SO, does it now pay to laugh at other babies crawling, or make fun at their funny attempts to walk? Motto: Help with Love. @HOUSE: This August is good. Lots of good news coming in. Others who are yet to get it, DON'T GIVE UP. |

@Aroy1: Let sleeping dogs lie. @HOUSE: I am heading to San Francisco and will like to make some new friends either there already or also heading there. Anyone? |
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by USBound: 9:59pm On Aug 08, 2011 |
@davidylan: We need to address the issue of 'British-American Imperialism via Language Control' on ANOTHER THREAD not this one. Which is why I enjoined on Aroy1 and by default US ALL to 'mutually help' applicants with their unique situations. If Reloaded needs to take the TOEFL exam or bolster his english language, simply say so rather than imply that English is required for either existence or greatnesss in this World. It is not. The Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Indians and non-english speaking Europeans have proven this. And I am not sure Americans like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mike Zuckerberg etc are renowned for the quantity or quality of english they speak. PLeaaaase. Let sleeping dogs lie. N.B - I am not saying one should speak or write poor english, or not write the TOEFL as a student visa applicant. I myself wrote it, scored 103. I'm saying, 'please constructively attend to students' posts' 1 Like |
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by USBound: 9:16pm On Aug 08, 2011 |
@Aroy1: Let me tell you something - You are a very good critic. But you don't understand that this thread is not for criticizing. READ FEMILANGY'S FIRST POST. Nothing like 'let's come together and pick holes in our student visa application' but rather 'let's come together, share information and help one another'. My advice: Focus on just what this thread is for - 'mutual helping' and avoid verbal sparring and needless arguments. Waryz is right. You guys (the House) should constructively look into Reloaded's application and not make fun of his post. Folakemito is right. English is a foreign language. The Chairman of Toyota does not speak english. I travelled once to Nairobi for a global convention and the South Korean President of the Conference could not speak english. Attempting to speak english more than the native speakers themselves is the 'colo-mentality' that Fela sang of. @HOUSE: Please I need to know who is going to SAN FRANCISCO? That's where I am heading. Abeg, who is going to SFO? aroy1: |
