http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/enough-mudslinging-apc-tells-pdp/ The All Progressives Congress,APC, has challenged the PDP to tell Nigerians how it plans to move from the near zero governance of the past six years of the Jonathan Administration to good and purposeful governance, instead of engaging in perpetual and tiring mudslinging. ”We believe that elections should be about issues that will be beneficial to the electorate, not about throwing everything but the kitchen sink at a particular candidate simply because of his soaring acceptability. ”Therefore, it is time for the PDP to end the muckraking and tell Nigerians how it plans to tackle the worsening insecurity in the land, the collapsing national currency, with the US dollar now exchanging for 215 Naira, massive unemployment, especially among the youth, decayed infrastructure and the unprecedented corruption under President Jonathan’s watch,” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. It said the essence of the sustained campaign of calumny against Gen. Buhari by the PDP is to distract the APC from telling Nigerians how it plans to effect the much-needed change from zero to purposeful governance, and also to sweep under the carpet the glaring failures of the Jonathan Administration. ”In both instances, the PDP has failed, as Nigerians have refused to be swayed by all the scandal mongering by the PDP, while the APC has remained focused in selling its game-changing manifesto to the citizenry,” APC said. The party said the PDP and President Jonathan should tell Nigerians what happened to the 20-billion-dollar missing oil funds, amid concerns that the money could have vanished into the ruling party’s slush funds for electioneering campaign. ”Nigerians are also asking: Mr. President, where are the Chibok girls who were abducted nine months ago, and whom you promised to reunite with their families? What happened to the stage-managed truce with Boko Haram and why has no one been punished for deceiving Nigerians? Mr. President, where is the report of the forensic audit you ordered into the missing $20b oil funds? It is now two months since the deadline set by your Finance Minister for the release of that audit report. Will the report go the way of others before it? ”Mr. President, why are our soldiers being sent to battle Boko Haram without the necessary equipment, even though trillions of Naira have been budgeted for the security and defence sector under your watch? Why are soldiers having to buy even their uniforms and the wounded among them financing their medical treatment, as some soldiers said in a CNN interview? ”Mr. President, why have you castrated the anti-corruption agencies, rendering them comatose and unable to tackle the runaway corruption under your watch? What signals are you sending to the EFCC, for example, when you picked as your campaign spokesman the same man who is facing corruption charges? Is that a way of telling the EFCC to let the notorious suspect off the hook? ”Mr. President, you vowed that those involved in the 2.6 trillion Naira fuel subsidy scam will never go unpunished, but many months later none has been punished and it is back to business as usual.. When will you consider stealing of public funds a serious act of corruption, sir? ”Mr. President, you said while campaigning for the 2011 elections that ‘four years is enough for anyone to make significant improvement, and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it means I cannot do anything’. Why should Nigerians trust you to deliver on your promises this time around, now that the power situation has gone from bad to worse under your watch? ”Mr. President, instead of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth of Nigeria, your administration has been fleecing and sending them to their early graves, as it happened during the fraudulent Immigration recruitment exercise in March 2014 when many innocent youths got death instead of jobs? When will you move from creating phantom jobs t |
What about APC campaigns ground destruction in Okrika River by Wike and his termites, Ekiti, Ondo and Lagos States by the PDP Zombies. How about that? You PDP followers are just partisan, this destruction and thuggery is done by both parties. Look at what Thug Fayose and Corrupt Femi Kayode are doing, if it were to be APC heavens will fall and they will call them all sort of names. But because, it was PDP everybody kept akimbo with admiration. We conderm this act of destruction in strong term advice both parties to shealt their sword and make the politicking an issue-based. |

Less than 48 hours after the call for the postponement of next month’s general elections by the National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Sambo Dasuki, drew mixed reactions from Nigerians, a new report has revealed that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, government has perfected five plans to shift the February polls for another three months. According to the report which was posted on the official Facebook account of Nigeria’s former Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, incumbent President Jonathan was alleged to be planning to shift the elections for three months in the first instance and for another three months in the second instance. It was disclosed that move was necessitated due to daily security reports received by the President that he would most likely lose the forthcoming presidential election woefully. Below is the full text of the report as posted by El-Rufai on Facebook: Jonathan and the PDP have perfected plans to shift the February polls for another three months. The Monitors gathered from a reliable source that due to daily security reports received by President Jonathan that he will lose the forthcoming election woefully, the only option left is to shift the elections for three months in the first instance and for another three months in the second instance. The security reports which are not favourable to Jonathan are daily getting worse for the President as the Buhari tsunami rages daily. With what is on ground now, it is clear that Jonathan will lose to Buhari with a wide margin! This is why the PDP hawks came up with series of plans to stop the election and push for an interim government. The first of the plans is to hide under insurgency and the fact that Nigeria is at war to shift the elections. But INEC did not agree with this position as it told Nigerians about its readiness to conduct the elections. According to INEC, both sensitive and non – sensitive materials are ready. Also about 70% of voters have collected their PVCs. The second plan is the DSS unwarranted invasion of the APC Data centre with the allegation that APC has hacked into INEC database but later told Nigerians that APC was trying to clone Permanent Voters Cards (PVC cards) without evidence to back up the accusation. The actual plan of the DSS which failed was to accuse APC of hacking into INEC database and that this had destroyed the database as a result of which elections shall be postponed. This option also failed as INEC did not complain that its database was hacked into by the APC or any other organisation! The third option is to start aggressive campaign about the “Buhari’s no certificate issue”. The PDP started shouting on the rooftops that Buhari has no certificate but INEC did not agree with them. When the PDP would not stop pestering INEC over the certificate issue, PDP was advised to go to court but up till today, the PDP has not gone to court! Meanwhile, the Military institution which Buhari attended in tthe USA (United States War College) confirmed in writing that the certificate Buhari obtained from them is equivalent to Masters Degree. That put paid to the “Buhari no certificate campaign”. So the third plan also failed. Fourthly, they moved to the fake health record and false report of Buhari’s ill health. A notorious aide of the Governor of Ekiti State, one Lere Olayinka circulated a forged health report that Buhari has prostrate cancer and that he has been flown out to the USA for an undisclosed ailment. Buhari himself debunked this report and continued with his campaign in two states that he was scheduled to visit on that day, The fifth and the latest plot to shift the elections is by using certain TV Houses to invite speakers to their stations to start arguing in favour of election postponement. In this plot, AIT owned by PDP chieftain Dokpesi), NTA, Silverbird and (STV, owned by Ben Bruce, PDP Senatorial Candidate in Bayelsa State) got N1billi |
Latest reports say the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, will no longer travel to the US on Monday. According to a Premium Times report, Buhari’s trip to the US was cancelled because the United States-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which invited the former head of state to its programme scheduled for Monday, has cancelled the event. CSIS’s director of the Africa programme, Jennifer Cooke, made the disclosure in an email she sent to the online news portal on Friday. She, however, explained that the cancellation of the trip was because of a change in Buhari’s schedule. In response to an earlier enquiry, the organisation had said the APC presidential candidate was invited to its Washington headquarters “to give a major public address on Nigeria’s future as it stands on the edge of a pivotal national election.” Cooke, in her response to this newspaper’s enquiry on Friday, said: “First, I want to make you aware that, because of a change in his schedule, Gen Buhari will not be travelling to the United States, and the event on Monday has been cancelled.” She explained that the leading presidential candidates were invited to enable them to share their perspectives on the elections. “The CSIS Africa Program issued almost identical invitations to both leading political candidates (President Jonathan and Gen. Buhari) to share their perspectives on Nigeria’s forthcoming elections and Nigeria’s future more broadly,” Cooke said. “There is considerable interest among U.S. policymakers and the Nigerian Diaspora community in the February 14 elections, and an interest in hearing from both candidates first hand their thoughts on how best to ensure that the elections will be free, fair, credible, and peaceful. “The Africa Program has no position on which candidate should or will be successful.” She said over the year, the programme had provided a neutral ground to profile the views of different relevant institutions and political parties. According to her, “Over the course of the last year, through the CSIS Nigeria Election Forum, the CSIS Africa Program has provided a neutral venue to profile a range of views from Nigerian civil society organizations, political leadership of both parties, and government officials. “The series has aimed to convey to a U.S. policy audience what is at stake in the forthcoming elections and support efforts to ensure that the electoral process is free, fair, credible, and peaceful.” It will be recalled that Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan, both front runners in the February 14 presidential election, were invited by the organisation to speak on Nigeria’s future. However, some reports had surfaced that Buhari, who had planned to make the trip to the US on Saturday, ahead of the event scheduled for January 26, was travelling to the US on medical grounds.

For the umpteenth time, Lagos based lawyer, Festus Keyamo, has come hard on incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. In an interview the popular lawyer granted Premium Times recently, he urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the lies of President Jonathan’s campaign organization against the All Progressive Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Keyamo added that the President and his handlers have failed to understand that the 2015 presidential election was not about human rights or religious issues, but about insecurity, corruption and the economy. In his own words: “It is not a campaign that should be dominated by human rights record because that is not an issue now because we have a competition in place. Chapter 4 has not been suspended, unlike in 1984. Now, this campaign is dominated by two centre things – there is a third one that is also crucial – which are insecurity, corruption and of course the issues of the economy is hanging in there too. “So, let us be clear in making our decision. We know exactly what we are doing. This not a campaign that should be dominated by human rights record; that is where the PDP is getting it wrong.” He said it was time for Nigerians to realize that President Jonathan had no clue or idea on how to run Nigeria. He added that the country was at a crossroad and needed a commander-in-chief at the helms of affair. “This is the time we need a commander-in-chief in this country. At some other time when we want to be chopping cabbage, maybe Jonathan can come back. “But I cannot entrust the next four years of my life, my children, under the smoke of ethnicity in the hands of Jonathan. He has no clue, he has no idea of how to take this nation out of the hands of insurgents. “It is under a Jonathan administration that insurgencies germinated, grew and dominated us because he does not have the knowledge either historically, learning by training or simple intelligence to understand the dynamics of war. This is what concerns us all, our lives and property, the primary duty of government – he does not have it and that is why whatever his military chiefs tell him, he takes. They are all feeding fat on the situation and because of the issue of corruption the so-called ex-generals are all part of the game. “Ask yourself these questions: for the five years of insurgency where do these insurgents come from? Where are these camps? The Nigerian Air Force, Army, Nigerian Navy cannot find and destroy them? It is an indelicate mix of incompetence and corruption on the part of government,” Keyamo said. |
