Every subject & topic is important...when u gain admission, make friends with those in yr2, collect their yr1 material(handout & past questions), ask them which lecturer took which course...go to the departmental office, check for course allocation compare it with ur present level...if tthesame lecturer is still handling the courses, read ur uroks well, read the past questions & master the way each lecturer sets his/her question , have your summary note n u are good to go

Don't shy away from mathematics, u will do it till ur 3rd b4 going for IT

I will advice u to mk friends wlso with those who gained admission through PRE-SCIENCE

Not that bro, If you are not regularized, you can Register for DE using 'Other Diploma' option, but if you are regularized u will Register choosing ND/HND option. However some that register 2ru 'Other Diploma' Option was admitted last year so do not panic if u were unable to do the regularization...

i still went to make enquiry about it today, and the cafe man laid emphasis on it that if am using ND, that i wont be able to register for DE, except i regularise.

And base on what zordeek is saying am aware of that since last year, but i doubt if any ND applicant who filled other diploma was admitted.

Regularization is meant for those that gained admission through the institution(jamb did not recognize their admission ,so their admission status needs to be verify before they can register)

Cos from Experience, 3 things naturally atttact women from a distance:

1. 2. Academic Excellency. I had a raw taste of this. This magnets ladies like moth to light. You must learn to balance your life. If you dont, two things are involved

a. It's either they turn u to assignment/tests/exams boyfriend ( as you already have experienced n r still experiencing ) or

b. You get them at your beck n call n selectively roll wit a few top class.


First case above happens when a guy isnt able to balance his academic life n social life.
He is all books N social life is Zero! He looks dingy n smelly, lacks gud dress sence, poor diction, razz , his place is a books'/pieces of paper jungle n generally oblivous of all social raves n happenings around him. He is synced to his beloved books. Has targets n every tin is sacrificed for such targets!

Because of the above, ladies find him boring n unappealing sexually . The only reason they come around is to milk his book brain either for assignments, texts n exams.
My advise is for u to balance your life( look gud, take care of urself) but if u cant, then learn to make money from them! Charge them for teaching services u render. Arrange tutorials. Charge them for d assignments et all! U cant be doing all d works n other guys disc cleaning.

U find these kinda guys mostly in Engineering, Sci n College of Health Sciences.

Your assertion on the bolded part is wrong . People who didn't do the regularization was able to register last year. The distinction between those that did the regularization and to those that don't was the mode of registration. This means Poly students will choose ND/HND as their mode Of registration , NCE for the college students ,BSC to those applying with bsc and Other Diploma to those that did not regularized.

Rugularization is meant for u to update all ur admission details on jamb website provided that You didn't get admissions letter directly from jamb in ur previous school of study.
You need to update ur details just like others who got admission letter directly from jamb.

Those details will be used by them and especially for your future NYSC posting.

I think people without jamb regularization(Diaplaying,no admission yet e.g Mapoly,Polyibadan etc ) are safe for nw, just postpone ur regularization till after gaining admission.... nevertheless..people with regularized jamb number(e.g YCT,FPI and so) can also apply for both.... we're in Nigeria.... where money matters!

is it possible to register with the previous jamb reg. number without applying for regularization??

Very good question @OP. However, you have to do your home work thoroughly. Considering the fact that you want to study in Nigeria, the Engineering option is preferred for the obvious reason that it is a professional course and allows you to become a registered engineer which might be useful in the future. Aside that it offers no further significant benefit. For Computer Science however, it is the 'in thing' now. I have an engineering background for my first two degrees but I'm currently doing a doctorate in CS and I can tell you the opportunities are immense. This is due to the increasingly role of big data and machine intelligence/artificial intelligence/data mining etc. in our decision making process. These research areas are offering a very promising future and Nigeria is really a fertile ground for such disciplines. You may thus consider an engineering option but with dedicated and disciplined focus on learning some programming languages like Python, Matlab, R, C/C++ etc. and further building immense capacity in mathematics/statistics especially problem formulation/modelling and toy with some basic AI program and apply them in basic optimisation problems. What I have been saying is this - do well to graduate with good grades in Comp. Engr but build immense capacity in your programming skills but with practical application to everyday issues. Do not forget to update yourself with the trends in CS (data management and AI) by being a registered student member of IEEE to have access to some open access journals. Also trail papers for free from academia.edu to researchgate on AI/machine learning. You need to do a serious research on what you want and make up your mind. Ultimately, never forget to always consult your creator - God to ask for direction. He made you and thus knows what's best for you. You can never be wrong taking His advice. All the best!

I graduated from same department & same school...Both are nice course, but I prefer computer science not because that's what I studied(only liked d course during my IT & I never regretted...only regret is graduating with 2:2, but making up & improving myself by learning different programming language...wanted to study something else)...Back then in my hostel computer engineering students use to admire us...whenever my coursemate come around & we are coding, that's when u will see the engine boys begging us to teach them that they are just studying c.engineering for mouth..This is incredible but it is d gospel truth..in my hostel then, I was known as d programmer

what subject nd topics will you advice a fresher to be good at inorder to have a better understanding and perform well in computer science?
