@Vickylala, I dont want to speak for other profession outside my engineering profession. I can assure you that we polytechnic engineers are already making moves to form our own body that will be barked by law. We will make our case very clear to the national assembly. University engineers have failed the nation and we cannot allow them to take us along in their backwardness. We dont even need them. In the past they tend to create the impression that they design for HND holders to implement. The introduction of design courses into the HND curriculum has effectively rendered BSC engineers useless. What this means is that the HND holder can design and implement and the BSC holder can only design and be looking at the design without knowing how to implement it. BSC engineers are not trained to physically translate design to physical infrastructure. This means we can produce without them but they cannot produce without us. of what use is that body that lump us together and even tend to make us look inferior? The law of negative feed back is already affecting them. The federal government now know that paper engineers are a liability to the Nigerian economy. Change is the only constant phenomenon. @Vickylala, you sound more like a secondary school drop out than a university graduate. Your level of reasoning fall below what is expected from a 100 level student. If by chance you manage to graduate by giving your area tita feely to lecturers in exchange for marks, you cant get more than a pass or third class. Those who attended school of aviation, NDA and Petroleum Training Institute where I graduated from didn't go there because they couldn't secure university admission. That has been my dream when I was in the technical college. I have 9 credit in one sitting which qualifies me to attend any university in the World but I chose that school because I want to gain practical knowledge that will make me a Job cteator. Even with the discrimination, degree holders still consult me on special areas. I still dominate them in the office. If level playing ground is created, I will be rated as an expatriate in my field.

The organizers have also exhibited the dichotomy here by giving a bad case to Auchi Poly to handle. The discrimination is baseless there by putting Auchi polytechnic in a tight corner. It is just like one who is trying to justify the ideology of Boko Haram /ISIS

Hmmm, Venier caliper, internal and external micrometer that I used for three years in the technical college. It is not suprising to me because I have seen a BSC holder in Petroleum Engineering who dont know how a flow station looks like. I have also seen a BSC holder in English who dont know how to write letter. If a mechanical engineer does not know how to use caliper, of what use is that engineer to the society? Such engineer is rated above me who spent three years in the technical college producing machine Parts with lathe and milling machine and also spent 5 years in the polytechnic.

How can paper engineers provide solution to power problem? They should put their degree certificate on top of Transformer to provide Electricity. Has any one here seen a university engineer dismantling a transformer for the purpose of repairing it? They cannot give what they dont have. Engineering profession will die in Nigeria until we respect those with technical education. The only achievement of COREN and NSE is to discriminate against HND holders. Engineering is 50% practical and 50% theory. You cannot learn 100% theory and call yourself an engineer. It is easier to forget theory than practical. For your information, there is nothing a university engineer can do in terms of calculation and theory that I cannot do but there are so many things I can do practically that they cannot do. You said we are trained to be Junior Engineers ignorantly because you didnt pass through the system to know the level of calculation that we do. Let us assume that you are right. A degree is awarded on the basis of knowledge that one acquires. Your baseless assumption is that university engineers are more knowledgeable than their polytechnic counterparts. We are saying that you should prove that to us by participating in the same aptitude test with HND holders in your field of studies so that you can show to the World practically that you are better but I discovered that most university graduates are running away from this suggestion.
