LOS ANGELES (AP) — The man authorities say was the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history, with nearly 60 confirmed victims, died Wednesday in California. He was 80. Samuel Little, who had diabetes, heart trouble and other ailments, died at a California hospital, according to the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was serving a life sentence for multiple counts of murder. California corrections department spokeswoman Vicky Waters said there was no sign of foul play, and his cause of death will be determined by a coroner. A career criminal who had been in and out jail for decades, Little denied for years he’d ever killed anyone. Then, in 2018, he opened up to Texas Ranger James Holland, who had been asked to question him about a killing it turned out Little didn’t commit. During approximately 700 hours of interviews, however, Little provided details of scores of slayings only the killer would know. A skilled artist, he even provided Holland with dozens of paintings and drawings of his victims, sometimes scribbling their names when he could remember them, as well as details such as the year and location of the murder and where he’d dumped the body. By the time of his death, Little had confessed to killing 93 people between 1970 and 2005. Most of the slayings took place in Florida and Southern California. Authorities, who continue to investigate his claims, said they have confirmed nearly 60 killings and have no reason to doubt the others. “Nothing he’s ever said has been proven to be wrong or false,” Holland told the CBS news magazine “60 Minutes” in 2019. The numbers dwarf those of Green River killer Gary Ridgeway (49), John Gacy (33) and Ted Bundy (36). Almost all of Little’s victims were women, many of them prostitutes, drug addicts or poor people living on the edges of society. They were individuals, he said he believed, who would leave few people behind to look for them and not much evidence for police to follow. Indeed, local authorities in states across the country initially classified many of the deaths as accidents, drug overdoses or the result of unknown causes. Little strangled most of his victims, usually soon after meeting them during chance encounters. He drowned one, a woman he met at a nightclub in 1982. He was nearly 80, in failing health and serving a life sentence in a California prison when he began confiding to Holland in May 2018, after years of refusing to talk to other authorities. Once a strong, strapping boxer who used his powerful hands to strangle his victims, he was now using a wheelchair to get around. Holland has described Little as both a genius and a sociopath, adding the killer could never adequately explain to him why he did what he did. Although known as an expert interrogator, Holland himself said he could only guess at why Little opened up to him. The ranger did work tirelessly to create and maintain a bond with the killer during their hundreds of hours of interviews, bringing him favorite snacks such as pizza, Dr. Pepper and grits and discussing their mutual interest in sports. He also gave Little assurances that he wouldn’t be executed. Holland would address Little by his childhood nickname, Sammy, while Little called Holland Jimmy and once told the Los Angeles Times he’d “found a friend in a Texas ranger.” He told “60 Minutes” he hoped his confessions might exonerate anyone wrongly convicted of his crimes. I say if I can help get somebody out of jail, you know, then God might smile a little bit more on me,” he said. A transient who traveled the country when he wasn’t in jail for larceny, assault, drugs or other crimes, Little said he started killing in Miami on New Year’s Eve 1970. “It was like drugs,” he told Holland. “I came to like it.” His last killing was in 2005, he said, in Tupelo, Mississippi. He also killed people in Tennessee, Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, Nevada, Arkansas and other states. Kentucky authorities finally caught up with him in 2012 after he was arrested on drug charges and his DNA linked him to three California When he began recounting the other slayings, authorities were astounded at how much he remembered. His paintings, they said, indicated he had a photographic memory. One killing was solved after Little recalled the victim wore dentures. Another after he told Holland he’d killed the victim near a set of unusual looking arches in Florida. A victim he met outside a Miami strip club in 1984 was remembered as being 25 years old with short blond hair, blue eyes and a “hippie look.” As he continued to talk, authorities across the country rushed to investigate old cases, track down relatives and bring closure to families. Little revealed few details about his own life other than that he was raised in Lorain, Ohio, by his grandmother. Authorities said he often went by the name Samuel McDowell. He was married once, Little said, and involved in two long-term relationships. He claimed he developed a fetish for women’s necks after becoming sexually aroused when he saw his kindergarten teacher touch her neck. He was always careful, he added, to avoid looking at the necks of his wife or girlfriends and never hurt anyone he loved. “I don’t think there was another person who did what I liked to do,” he told “60 Minutes.” “I think I’m the only one in the world. Yes, The present calendar we use was devised 1500 years ago in the year 525 by a monk called Dionysius Exiguus He based it on the year that Jesus of Nazareth was born and called that Year 1 or AD 1. So we adopted events before his birth as B.C. Before Christ and events after his birth as A.D. Anno Domini (latin for in the year of our Lord). The full phrase is[i] "anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi", which translates to "in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ"[/i][b][/b].-(Wikipedia) How did he determine the year of the birth of the Christ? Its believed he used the figures given in Luke referring to the 15th year of the reign of the Roman Emperor Tiberius Caesar. Before this, the method used was Diocletian years, named after a Roman Emperor who persecuted Christians. It has also been speculated by Georges Declercq[16] that Dionysius' desire to replace Diocletian years with a calendar based on the incarnation of Christ was intended to prevent people from believing the imminent end of the world. At the time, it was believed by some that the resurrection of the dead and end of the world would occur 500 years after the birth of Jesus. The old Anno Mundi calendar theoretically commenced with the creation of the world based on information in the Old Testament. Several years ago, an error was detected. It was discovered that Herod the Great who ordered the massacre of the babies died in 4 B.C. If Herod was alive at the birth of the Christ according to the Bible, then Jesus could not have been born in AD 1. Thus Jesus was born in 5 B.C. and not 1 AD. It was too late to change the calendar; but fact is fact. This year is 2025 years after the birth of the Christ, next year is 2026 after the birth of Christ! 25-year old graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Alfred Adebayo, said he planned to commit suicide after he was defrauded by a forex trader, Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel, popularly known as ECG. Speaking to Newsmen, Adebayo said he lost over N100 million to ECG. According to the Microbiology graduate, he was introduced to the forex trader by a friend on WhatsApp. He said, “I actually got introduced to Gospel around March, I joined his group through someone I know on WhatsApp. So, when I joined the group, this guy used to give us 40 per cent of our investment every week. So, I started investing in it; you invest in a group, he doesn’t have a website or nothing. It’s a WhatsApp group, he drops the account number to invest in, so you send money to the account. You send the payment receipt and he would confirm. Then the following week, you get 40 per cent interest on your capital. “There was a day I asked him what he does with the money and he told me he trades in forex. I asked him how sustainable and how everything was because we actually spoke at length. He told me not to worry and that he knew how he was doing those things. Then I told him I wanted to start collecting money from people to invest and give them a lower interest. “Around May, he said he was going to register the company and he started the process. I think he got registered by June. That same June, he came up with a story that his bank account had been frozen, and that he couldn’t make payment. That should be around June 17; let’s just say the third week in June. That was when he came up with the story and since then, we haven’t heard anything about him. He was arrested here in Akure and taken to Abuja. For me, I lost over N100 million and for those affected, the amount of money we lost runs into billions of naira. I spoke with a lady that made the police transfer him to Abuja and she told me Gospel doesn’t trade in forex but actually runs a Ponzi scheme. “It’s actually crazy; I actually thought about suicide when this thing happened at first. I actually thought about suicide. Where would I get money from to pay people back? My brother has really supported me emotionally and financially, also my friends have been helpful. Immediately, I told them I wanted to kill myself, they advised me against it.” A 300-level student of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Gbenga Favour Olaoye-Akanbi, committed suicide on December 20 after he was also allegedly defrauded of over N300 million by ECG. Trouble reportedly started for the 19-year-old student when the returns from the N300 million refused to come at the expected time. Those who invested with the deceased were said to have circulated his pictures on different social media platforms, tagging him a ‘thief, fraudster and scammer.’ This guy in this picture called Jasper is a scammer. I have been paying to his Opay account and reinvesting my capital until he scammed us of our money. ‘Na God go judge am’ (God will judge him. He was proudly telling us that he had backup funds that was enough to pay everyone and he later told us that he had changed the money into crypto currencies. One of Warner's clients told The Times that weeks ago he got an email from Warner saying he was retiring. Investigators are trying to piece together why the bomber carried out the attack. One emerging theory is that Warner was paranoid about 5G cellular networks, WSMV reported. The creation of 5G networks has led to numerous conspiracy theories and baseless claims, including that it spreads cancer and that it caused the coronavirus pandemic. A source close to the federal investigation told WSMV that investigators were looking into whether Warner feared that 5G technology was being used to spy on Americans. The suspect allegedly behind the Christmas Day bombing in downtown Nashville has been identified as 63-year-old Anthony Quinn Warner, two law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News. Authorities believe Warner owned the RV that exploded in downtown Nashville early Friday, sources said. He also is believed to be deceased from the blast. Human tissue was found amongst the debris left behind by the explosion, and investigators will be conducting DNA testing. Warner was believed to have lived at the home in Antioch, Tenn., searched for several hours Saturday by the FBI and several other law enforcement agencies. The home address on Google Earth shows the same RV parked in different places on the property dating back several years. It appears to be a "lone wolf" situation, but the motive remains under investigation. Authorities do not believe the city of Nashville is in danger. Police said the RV sounded warnings to evacuate and a 15-minute countdown to clear the area. The voice of the woman on the recording is believed to be a robotic, computerized voice, the sources said. The RV also blasted a song before it detonated, which was identified by police as "Downtown" by Petula Clark. Saturday's bombing may likely have been a suicide bombing; new reports are indicating! NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Federal agents converged Saturday on the home of a possible person of interest in the explosion that rocked downtown Nashville as investigators scoured hundreds of tips and leads in the blast that damaged dozens of buildings on Christmas morning. More than 24 hours after the explosion, a motive remained elusive as investigators worked round-the-clock to resolve unanswered questions about a recreational vehicle that blew up on a mostly deserted street on a sleepy holiday morning and was prefaced by a recorded warning advising those nearby to evacuate. The attack, which damaged an AT&T building, continued to wreak havoc Saturday on cellphone service and police and hospital communications in several Southern states. Investigators from multiple federal and local law enforcement agencies were at a home in Antioch, in suburban Nashville, after receiving information relevant to the investigation, said FBI Special Agent Jason Pack. Another law enforcement official, who was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said investigators regard a person associated with the property as a person of interest. A Google Maps image had shown a similar recreational vehicle parked in the backyard when the photo was captured in May 2019; an AP reporter at the scene did not see the vehicle at the property in the late afternoon Saturday. Officials also said no additional explosive devices have been found — indicating no active threat to the area. Beyond that, the only known casualties were three injured people. The infrastructure damage, meanwhile, was broadly felt, due to an AT&T central office being affected by the blast. Police emergency systems in Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama, as well as Nashville’s COVID-19 community hotline and a handful of hospital systems, remained out of service. The building contained a telephone exchange, with network equipment in it — but the company has declined to say exactly how many people have been impacted. Asked whether the AT&T building could have been a possible target, Korneski said, “We’re looking at every possible motive that could be involved." Investigators shut down the heart of downtown Nashville’s tourist scene — an area packed with honky-tonks, restaurants and shops — as they shuffled through broken glass and damaged buildings to learn more about the explosion. Mayor John Cooper has enforced a curfew in the downtown area until Sunday via executive order to limit public access to the area. More than 40 buildings were affected. AT&T said restoration efforts are facing several challenges, which include a fire that “reignited overnight and led to the evacuation of the building.” This has forced their teams to work with safety and structural engineers and drilling access holes into the building in order to reconnect power. “Our teams continue to work around the clock on recovery efforts from yesterday morning’s explosion in Nashville,” the company said in a Saturday statement. “We have two portable cell sites operating in downtown Nashville with numerous additional portable sites being deployed in the Nashville area and in the region.” Ray Neville, president of technology at T-Mobile, said on Twitter that service disruptions affected Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Birmingham and Atlanta. “We continue to see service interruptions in these areas following yesterday’s explosion. Restoration efforts continue around the clock & we will keep you updated on progress,” he said in a tweet Saturday. The outages had even briefly grounded flights at the Nashville International Airport, but service was continuing normally as of Saturday. The Federal Aviation Association has since issued a temporary flight restriction around the airport, requiring pilots to follow strict procedures until Dec. 30. According to Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake, police officers responded on Friday to a report of shots fired when they encountered the RV blaring a recorded warning that a bomb would detonate in 15 minutes. Graham's remarks come as Trump and Congress are locked in a standoff over the size of payments to millions of Americans as part of the latest COVID-19 relief bill, after the House and Senate overwhelmingly passed legislation that Trump has criticized and not signed, putting it in limbo. After spending some time with President @realDonaldTrump today, I am convinced he is more determined than ever to increase stimulus payments to $2000 per person and challenge Section 230 big tech liability protection," Graham tweeted on Friday night. "Both are reasonable demands, and I hope Congress is listening. The biggest winner would be the American people," he added. Graham, a top ally of Trump's in Congress, weighed in after spending time golfing with the president at his club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Friday. While he has not threatened to veto the bill, the president has also not said if he'll sign it. Trump has been at odds with Congress this week over the latest coronavirus deal, with his surprise opposition to the legislation throwing the latest relief bill and government funding package into uncertainty. The president has criticized the $900 billion COVID-19 deal, which came after months of slow-moving negotiations between both parties as well as his administration, by focusing on the size of the payments to Americans. He has called for $2,000 payments instead of the $600 payments that lawmakers approved along with a number of other provisions to provide economic relief amid the pandemic. The coronavirus deal was passed along with a $1.4 trillion package to fund the federal government through October. Republicans have urged Trump to sign the legislation, with unemployment benefits set to expire Saturday and a shutdown looming starting Tuesday unless the president signs the bill or Congress passes a new measure and the president signs it. The president indicated in tweets on Christmas Day and on Saturday that he was still pushing for bigger payments for Americans. The Nigerian Police has a very bad reputation and many will say they are thoroughly evil. But many times despite poor motivation, remuneration and bad equipment; they rise to the occasion. See how they solved the murder of an "ordinary" Nigerian within a day by working with the local youths.[b][/b] The family of one Idowu Olawuyi has been grieving after he was stabbed to death by robbers around Bunkas junction, AIT Road in the Alagbado area of Lagos State. PUNCH Metro gathered that the 33-year-old was on his way to work at the local wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, when three robbers waylaid him around 4.20am. During the attack, it was learnt that the robbers dispossessed Idowu of his valuables and while he was struggling with them, one of the robbers reportedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife. Idowu’s elder brother, Adedayo, told PUNCH Metro that the father of one died at the scene of the attack, adding that his remains were deposited in a mortuary. Adedayo stated, “Around 6.30am on December 4, 2020, I was having morning devotion with my family when I missed a call from a strange number. When I called back, the person asked if I knew Idowu Olawuyi and I told him that he was my brother. The person told me to come to Bunkas junction because it appeared as if hoodlums had attacked and killed him on his way to work. “I called my brother’s line but it was switched off. I called his wife, Bolanle, and she said she had not heard from him since he left for work around 4.15am. “At that point, I started believing what the strange caller told me. I also received another call from a different person, who told me the same thing, and because where the incident happened is not far from where he lived, a lot of people, who knew Idowu, saw his corpse lying on the ground; so, they went to his house and on getting there, they saw that his wife was young. They looked for elderly landlords and broke the news to her; they police were contacted and I was also informed. “When I saw my brother’s corpse inside the police vehicle, I saw that he was stabbed in the centre of his chest, just because the hoodlums want to snatch his phone. I wrote a statement at the police station and the corpse was deposited in the Ota General Hospital mortuary. The police and the youth leader in the area immediately swung into action and started combing the environment and one person was arrested. Later on, I received another call that another person had been arrested and one of them confessed to killing my brother. “The case was later transferred to the SCIID, Panti. I went there and the two suspects were brought out and when I saw the person, who killed Idowu, I asked him why and he started crying. He said he didn’t know that my brother would die and that they had already collected his phone and while trying to run away, some nightguards were coming close to them and Idowu held unto his leg, and in the process of setting himself free, he stabbed him.” The deceased’s wife, Bolanle, told PUNCH Metro that Idowu was survived by an eight-month-old baby, Ezeikel, adding that she had been staying with her in-laws ever since the incident happened. She said, “He left home around 4.15am and I was expecting him to call me that he was in the office, but I got no message from him and I tried his two lines but they didn’t connect. Around 7am, some people knocked on my gate and when I opened, they asked if I knew Idowu and I said yes and asked what happened, but I was told that they saw his document. “They said they needed to see someone much older; they met some community elders and afterwards, they came back to inform me that he had a minor accident. It was when I got to our church that I was told what happened.
