CoolUsername: His gimmick isn't special. What gets him over is his character. he doesn't have one. Maybe he did, at least not currently. His character work is what people like. |

samistry: My guy who discovered a Chris Jericho Vs. OMEGA NJPW 2018 match suddenly thinks he's moses who found the burning bush. Anyone who dares have a different opinion is on what his ideal wrestling sport is sprouts heresy. What counts as wrestling in Japan varies with Mexico. Same Event, different audience. Please look up Mexican wrestling history before you continue to embarrass yourself. Mexico has the oldest wrestling promotion till date. We may not like their silly gimmicks but please don't say it's not wrestling because it doesn't align with your vision. It's more than a sport there, it's tradition. this has nothing to do with New Japan and I don't care about Mexico's history. This is not wrestling. Simple. Imagine if this is what we grew up watching over Cena, Orton and Austin. Imagine the next Wrestlemania littered with circus characters from top to bottom. Haba. |

CoolUsername: MJF Character: his various feuds with different wrestlers, Wardlow, Juice Robinson. His disagreement with TK, etc
Gimmick: cocky edgelord who thinks he's better than you
They feed into each other 'Gimmick': Is literally a heel characteristic. |

samistry: Hate to break it to you bud, such exaggerated traits na still gimmick and you fell for it. It's not until someone does a comedic or ojuju routine that makes it a gimmick. Old school Heels had fans throwing things and threatening em. They did it so convincingly that people thought it was their real personality. It wasn't until kayfabe broke that fans found out such antics weren't true. I don't need to tell you this much, you sef dey listen to Cornette podcast. Has Maxwell done any of such tasteless antics real life? No? Then Na gimmick you dey see so. I don't see your point. Are you saying MJF must be a heel in real life? A heel is a character in wrestling. He's doing his job. But he's not showcasing a character that is away from the wrestling structure. Simple. Look at Ospreay for instance. Arguably the best wrestler today - what's his gimmick? Brock nko? Roman? Gimmicks are already leaving which is a good thing. The next thing we eliminate are storylines and the world will be a better place. |

You guys are really not going to condemn AAA & WWE for showcasing those things on TV? You know when Cody said that Brock returning is good because as a result of their deal with ESPN WWE is moving to a sports based product; I knew it was marketing talk at best. And Triplemania proved that. Wrestling moved from the circus to the sport, back to the circus. |

samistry: He's doing the tailored-suit wearing young, cocky rich asshole prick thing EC3 did. The only difference is MJF uses that to mask the insecurities of his character. Na the Gimmick be that. Before you tell me that Max is being himself. How come we never heard any negative stories about him in the companies he worked for? No bad attitude stories like young Randy and Carlito.
No Real life politicking or backstabbing. I know Triple H politicked his way to the top.
How affluent is his family before he started wrestling? I know Del Rio comes from wealthy family. Ric Flair is himself. He's known for living an expensive lifestyle that results in bankruptcy all too often. He's been married and divorced so many times. That's his playboy lifestyle. so this is what I mean when I say he's not or barely a gimmick: 1. Tailored suit: How many people wear that? It's virtually everywhere if the wearer can afford. It's clothing, not particular to anyone and not special. How many times does he talk about his special attire? So much for a gimmick he barely emphasizes. 2. Cocky, a*shole: Traits of a heel. Nothing special. No gimmick there. 3. EC3 doppelganger: EC3 is a heel. That's it. However he expressed his heel nature different from others is based on his real life character and knowledge at minimum. No gimmick. You say MJF masks his character with class and appearance; there's not evidence on ground to back this. I know he did something of sort with Punk and his face turn, but that's more of a story than a gimmick if you ask me. Now what is a gimmick in wrestling? A gimmick is a character that has absolutely nothing to do with wrestling. That means it has absolutely nothing to do with sport combat, ring psychology and heel & face dynamics. It's just an exclusive character wrestlers create. Like Seth's Messiah gimmick, he's fashionista gimmick, he's choir master gimmick, etc. MJF on the other hand hasn't really done something to fully quantify as a gimmick in recent times. Back in the day he did the presidential gimmick. But today he's more himself just expressed in a heelish persona and in some traits he tends to exaggerate which I call bad work ethic. That's what I see. |

samistry: They're all gimmicks bro,Playing characters on TV. The fact you like one doesn't separate that fact. What you see on TV isn't how that person is backstage ,behind the scenes except maybe Logan Paul(That one scam people with crypto project real life). MJF isn't different from what EC3 did in TNA early in his career. fine, define his gimmick. |
TV/Movies › Re: Purpl3's WWE (and Pro-wrestling in general) Discussion And Banter House by ValeeLove(m): 11:45am On Aug 16, 2025 |
samistry: Exaggeration no be gimmick abi? The Dynamite Ring, Burberry scarf and Burberry championship all that Na gimmick. no it's not a gimmick, it's bad work ethic. He may see himself as a gimmick, but what makes people like him is him work in the ring and in character. Burberry belt, diamond ring - are you talking about style and preferences? That's not enough time quantify a gimmick. You want to see a gimmick? Look at Wyatt Six. |

samistry: @valeelove how can a manager like Stokely Hathaway take two back to back spears from Copeland, yet still have ring awareness to use fire extinguisher moments later Moves in wrestling don't matter anymore. I haven't watched it, but if what you're saying is true, then it shouldn't be so. |
TV/Movies › Re: Purpl3's WWE (and Pro-wrestling in general) Discussion And Banter House by ValeeLove(m): 12:52pm On Aug 15, 2025 |
CoolUsername: Kross needs to learn how to wrestle matches that aren't boring. He's slow, lacks intensity, and lacks power in the ring.
On the mic, he can gather momentum but once he gets in the ring, everyone checks out. He has somehow managed to work snoozefests with the likes of Drew McIntyre, Rey Mysterio, AJ Styles, and Sami Zayn.
If Austin Theory had half the charisma that Kross has, he would've been pushed to the moon. to be fair, I've only seen a handful of his matches. Maybe that's where the chief issue is, but I know the gimmicks don't help. |
TV/Movies › Re: Purpl3's WWE (and Pro-wrestling in general) Discussion And Banter House by ValeeLove(m): 12:51pm On Aug 15, 2025 |
samistry: @valeelove You know MJF is a gimmick right? He took what EC3 was formerly doing in TNA. I know MJF exaggerates some things, but I see no gimmick; all I see is what heels do. He's just too playful about it. |
TV/Movies › Re: Purpl3's WWE (and Pro-wrestling in general) Discussion And Banter House by ValeeLove(m): 12:46pm On Aug 13, 2025 |
samistry: Kross was called smoke and mirrors. A special entrance with a valet, whose excitement went down as soon as the ring bell rung.
Man later adopted the Devil on the shoulder thing which endeared fans to him. Heels like Triple H, Jake the snake, MJF employ pyschology against their opponents. Issue was that such promos were relegated to backstage /ad breaks only.He became a background character on the show.
Also, What good is pyschological warfare when you lose all the time? Gimmick or no gimmick a guy with such physique /MMA background losing frequently ruins his credibility. It's the same issue with guys like Wardlow, Archer and Brian Cage.
I've also seen folks criticise his ring work. They even spawned a rumor Kross doesn't take back bumps. Do they want everyone doing suicide dives and springboard moves? I've seen some backstage segments as well as some posts online of him doing his gimmick. It's just a bit flat (as all gimmicks). But, when he made some noise in that studio and spoke authentically, everyone rallied around him. Begs the question, why don't you keep being that authentic character rather than acting these mastermind-manipulator gimmicks that goes no where; that's just my question. |

pu7pl3: Theory wasn't fired. Why would you even wish for someone to get fired bro? did I read the news wrong? I find it disingenuous and passively insulting that a woman who shouldn't even be in the business is claiming we won simply because she didn't win the title. That comment is infuriating and insulting. She shouldn't even be here, and yet look at what she's accomplished along the way; and then just one loss and she acts defeated. No, she won, and WWE should be ashamed of themselves for making it happen. |

Maynman: How does god loving you translates to his son dying for you? because to love, I have to give - freely. And if God's giving us His son to die on the cross for us (and gets nothing in return), it's the best act of love possible. |

samistry: About Athena not executing the contract, maybe she wants to prove something at FD🤷 I'm thinking AEW /WWE book their contracts / MITB like the G1 climax contract or how RVD cashed in his contract. The holder can decide the PPV or event for their title match. This kills the surprise factor but in the event one fails to win, he isn't seen as a bum unlike the mitb where failed cash ins are seen as flops. Heels can still cheat or have distractions to help them win during matches. prove what? It isn't smart. If you have the briefcase; use it when the champ least expects. That is a wiser decision. |
