samistry: We've seen similar indyfest matches on NXT takeovers severally especially the black and gold era. If the match was as acclaimed as you say why did more people watch Oba femi vs jasper Troy on NXT instead?
indyfest? The match I watched? AJ Styles, Bryan Danielson and Samoa Joe were putting on better matches in ROH than Maven on WWE TV in 2004 and less people saw theirs.
samistry: I posted about their numerous ads and shitty entrance music but as usual you no dey ever see am. I asked where Ludwig Kaiser was? Queried where they were going with Kross backstage segments. Complained previously about the lack of defence for the Women US, IC and Tag titles but you turn Stevie Wonder. I also remember Purple complaining about Seth's faction especially Bronson Reed teaming with Seth.
Oh yeah. It's just kind of hard to remember them (at least the ones I've seen) when you defend some obvious inconsistencies that they display.
samistry: -Punk hasn't forgotten. He's got grudges against both Seth and Cena. Remember the promo after elimination chamber where he called out both Rock and Cena? Won't be surprised when there's a tag match with him and Reigns against Seth at some later ppv, probably summerslam.
-Didn't Cena mention R-truth among the guys he's beaten last raw before CM Punk came on? How is that forgetting him?
-Reigns is a part timer. He will be back by summerslam for Rollins and Heyman. Just like he took time off and returned at summerslam last year for Solo.
that nonsense promo that I called out here on this platform. He put so much effort on people that had no contact and connection with him getting screwed. And barely talked about the guy directly responsible. There's no story there. That you can talk doesn't mean you know how to tell a story.
samistry: wetin dey the twitter link I post Na propaganda? Toni makes out with Mina shirakawa, Mariah May and now Mercedes Mone. Tell me when I'm telling lies
that's not making out to me, that's showbiz in a weird twisted way. Only a psycho would want to debut there because of that.
You guys think I worship AEW. I only prefer it. There are lots of things about it I don't like. I just like that if feels more sport like than WWE, at least for the most part.
samistry: Wetin jade do you for this life? Shotzi admitted she wants to join AEW because they let hot girls make out with each other. You do like say you no see that one as na your favourite brand.
This is probably why she ventured into wrestling in the first. I heard she even admitted it. Know what you're defending because they might end up discarding you.
pu7pl3: They weren't in the qualifying matches because they were already in the feud with the 2 champs. Other people also deserved to be in the match too.
no feud is nore important than a shot at the World title.
CoolUsername: Since we are asking bad faith questions about shows we don't watch @valeelove, can you explain in detail why AEW's flagship show is losing to a developmental show?
Ask Tony. I on the other hand can give you explanations on things I have access to, like their last Dynamite. Go watch Ospreay Vs Swerve and show me any WWE bout on that level.
samistry: Did Cody pin John Cena during that mitb match or not? He did but hasn't made a challenge yet. Who challenged John the next night on raw? It was punk. Cena accepted and named the venue. Cody pinned Cena in that tag match hence can always lay a challenge anytime for the title.
Valee, Na the same you wey dey complain of main eventers losing to midcarders want Cody to lose an mitb qualifying match? Another loss after the one to Cena at wrestlemania? I don't even think Cody has ever been involved in an mitb match since his return in 2022.
Here's where the you begin to think like a booker who makes money matches to sell tickets. What's the biggest ppv besides wrestlemania? It has to be summerslam, the ppv that is going on for 2nights like wrestlemania. That's where you make the rematch.
no he can't. There is no rule that says he can come back and challenge for that title. And even if you claim he has a stake it's still not automatic or guaranteed. What is guaranteed is MITB. What is Cena loses the belt before he gets to challenge? What if Punk wins it? What about Paul? Would a rematch have been guaranteed if he had won? There was no stipulation, nothing. I have wrestlers win tag matches before against opponents and it didn't guarantee them nothing. Point is, it's not as important as MITB. Again, we aren't talking about the bookers but the characters. Have your big matches at the big shows all you want, but make the journey there flawless.
samistry: A champion has discretion to answer or refuse a challenge especially a fighting champion. Make of that what you want.
not in a sport. Take UFC for instance, while there is no clear ranking system like football, you can't just come and get a world title shot like that. It don't work like that.
samistry: Are you a stranger to wrestling? You know you can make a challenge for title and if the champion agrees you get a shot. Ethan Page attacked Trick Williams to get his attention then later demanded a title shot for the belt which was accepted by the champion. I dn tire explain to who no dey watch but wan argue 😩
samistry: Bro accept the L and move on. I pointed out an instance where Seth got a title match without a briefcase. Mitb comes once a year and it came at a time where Cody and Logan had issues to sort out with jey and Cena. There are various ways to get a title shot. Even Logan Paul has gotten it against Roman and Jey without the briefcase. There are various ways to get a title match. King of the ring, Royal rumble, mitb and making a direct challenge to the champ for his acceptance.
Seth didn't just wake up one morning and get a title shot. He had to earn it by winning a couple of other matches and being next in line. But by winning MITB he gets it anytime anywhere. Let me ask you this, if Cody can get a title shot anytime he wants then why do we have Punk facing Cena at Saudi and not Cody? You see that your logic doesn't add up. You're saying issues, there is no bigger issue than the belt. That's pro-wrestling 101. I once saw Shawn Michaels tell Bischoff that the best way he could get back at HHH was by taking his belt, it's very logical. The only reason they ended fighting against HIAC without any title on the line was because they had exhausted and cost eachother the opportunity at the belt. Again, it makes no sense for the characters of Cody and Paul to neglect the MITB briefcase for a tag team match that leads nowhere. Have them lose their opportunities to get a spot at the MITB first then this tag action can happen; that's what I mentioned earlier about excuse and reason. If they wanted to do that, they could have done it that way, you cover up your logic holes in the process.
samistry: Didn't Seth challenge Jey for the belt last month on raw? Watch show you no go gree . Theory cashed in for midcard belt and lost. That was the beginning of his burial.
Then why is he with the briefcase if it isn't of utmost importance, after all he can get a title shot anytime he wants now? At least we agree on one thing.
pu7pl3: Ofcourse they do You don't always get what you desire. Sometimes you get more, sometimes you get less.
You at least show interest and put effort to get it. I've never seen anyone leave an opportunity for a guaranteed title shot to chase a feud. Imagine if it was the RR Cody and Paul discarded for a tag team action.
samistry: Lol do you need a briefcase to get a match with Cena? Randy, Punk, R-truth prove otherwise. The tag match may not be important but it got Cody Rhodes a pinfall victory Cena. It puts a stake in his claim for a rematch.
You need a case to secure a match at least. Why didn't Seth discard the match and bother winning it since he's Seth and can get a title shot anytime he wants. Title shots people go through the Rumber and chamber to get is what you're downplaying. Don't forget it's still treated as a sport and you still have to fight for your spot regardless of how good you are. Has he claimed for a rematch? A stake for a claim isn't still as big as a guaranteed title shot anytime anywhere.
While we're talking nonsensical bookings, let's talk Theory cashing in on the US title and still losing. I recall a lot of WWE fans defending it with their lives as they love to defend anything E and up till now that cash in hasn't done anything for Theory. Give it a shot if you want.
samistry: As I've said it times without number she along with the other women declared that they will be going for that title. That statement makes sense when you compare her to recent NXT signings, Ricky Saints and Ethan Page both of whom won titles soon after they debuted. Aren't the youngbucks EVPS? Why would you help someone takeover the company when you already hold executive positions? Brock is brock, he's never needed a reason to attack anyone.
Oh really, did they go after the World titles immediately they came in. You can't defend this, sorry. The best you can come up with is either, Mariah mispoke or her character is delusional.
They hold exec positions, but they don't own the company. Plus, they don't have the respect of the locker room. They need strong hands to do that, hence the Riders come in. Again, I'm not telling you the story, I'm only trying my best to make sense out of it. That being said, I still don't like storylines in wrestling.
Now Brock is Brock. Since he returned at Summer slam, he had been talking on the mic, being part of the story. Making jokes. Telling everyone what he wanted. All of a sudden, he can't talk or reason because he's Brock.
samistry: Cena interfered in the Logan vs Jey match for the championship. Cody came out to help Jey even the odds then made the proposal for a tag team match at mitb. It was about two guys challenging two other guys in a tag match. There's no point putting Rhodes in the MITB match then losing when the plan is to have Seth win the briefcase. That will be back to back losses for Cody at PPV following mania. Logan lost at Saturday night main event where a tag match challenge was made by Cody. Why should he take the spot of another wrestler in mitb qualifiers when he has a tag match at same ppv?
The tag match at mitb also played into the story of Jey losing his title. Gunther berated Jey on the raw before the ppv for always helping out Sami and Cody rather than focus on the championship. Jey wrestled Gunther 48hours after that tag match while Gunther stayed fresh for almost a month preparing for him. Cody will have a rematch against Cena probably at summerslam for the title.
so, I asked a reason not an excuse. I'm not saying do it because it's convenient I'm saying do it because it makes sense. I'm not saying your reasons aren't important but couldn't they have found a better way to implement them? What did Cody and Paul gain from the match, absolutely nothing. But their characters would have definitely thought it a better plan to go for the MITB. What better way could Cody have revenge on Cena if not by winning the case and taking back the title from Cena. They could still have their tag match, but at RAW or another PPV, not at a once in a year extremely important PPV as MITB. It was not an intelligent choice to make and you know it. Don't say WWE did it because... No, why did the characters do it?
samistry: @valeelove I told you there will be a contenders match . By the way did the youngbucks ever explain why they are supporting Moxley? They ran away from AEW for a while because they were scared of death riders. What is the endgame of Mercedes collecting belts from different promotions?.
Is Mariah in this? If she's not, again, where is the logic in calling yourself the "next" champion when you just came in and *boom* you're not even in the contender's match? Who wrote it? Not "future" not "very soon", but next? When the writer clearly knows that she's not even in the radar for the belt anytime soon. Make it make sense. Some times they act like adults don't watch this. Young Bucks, I'm not going to explain that but I'll play devil's advocate. They are both heels, they share the same enemies, and they don't actually care about the company - same as Death Riders (you can tell by Mox locking up the belt and running rampage on everyone), so they found a common ground, stopped the pretence and decide to take over AEW and do it their own way and in their own image as both teams need eachother.
Who wouldn't want more gold? I don't understand.
But, till now nobody knows why Brock attacked Cody. And since I stopped watching I don't know how many other nonsense booking they've done that nobody understands.
