Even AEW normal matches are ironic. You can interfere in matches but once it's a continental title match or tournament there's no interference.

I thought I was asinine, and I enjoyed the continental matches more, so did other people. It's hard to attempt, but if matches had zero interference going forward, it would be great.

Granted, they are developmental belts. However NXT is still a show its own right, with it's viewership sometimes competing with AEW Dynamite before the latter moved to streaming. Therefore, it has its own top stars and ecosystem. Furthermore, WWE wants to make as much money from the product as possible, so of course there'll be a succession plan for the main attraction. Matter of fact, the title is more of a right of passage for promising talent than anything. There shouldn't be a problem dropping it when a good portion of WWE fans don't even know much about NXT.

Also, you can't make everyone Asuka. It's bad booking to cheapen Austin and Asuka streaks by giving it to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. We saw Bron Breakker drop his belt to Carmelo Hayes and then drop the tag team title to Fraxiom before leaving NXT. Has he had any trouble establishing himself as a threat?

the belt might not matter that much, but the culture does. What happens in NXT happens on the main roster and it has an adverse effect, really. For a lot of fans, it's always about culture and tradition; I don't care about those. I only keep a culture if it makes sense. It's a new age, some things have to be done away with. This one is one of them. I can't stand Gunther losing the IC title to Sami at Mania and that suddenly promotes him to main event status? Where's the logic? You're not even good enough to remain a midcarder but somehow the main event is what suits you? Make it make sense. That's my peace.

When someone who is in top of the card is about to leave, there should be a succession plan. One good way is to let your big star put over an upcoming star.

Although a clean win is ideal, this isn't a hard rule because that could be boring if overdone. There could always be outside shenanigans. An upcoming heel can cheat to win. You can have more than two competitors in the match so the star doesn't have to take the pin. All these work to establish a new top star to a certain extent.

Relinquishing the belt rarely ever achieves this.

you forgot one thing; nobody really cares about the developmental belts. The reason for developmental is preparation for the main roster. The belts at best sets a wrestler on the path to the main roster. It puts a stamp on you that you're ready, then you go ahead and lose it. That stamp goes away. The new talents can't be established in the dev brand because technically they're not yet talent. They are only taken seriously when they go up.
Again, if it worked for Austin and Asuka then it's something they should look into and do more. The coming wrestlers will be fine, but they shouldn't water down those going up. Logically speaking Jacy should be the one going to the main roster, after all she's just proved that she's better than Steph.

You vacate your titles periodically then nobody is going to care about it. Booking 101.

like it's a taboo to vacate titles. Titles are vacated regularly. I know vacating the title protects the wrestler. They don't look weak going up. How's the perception of Stephanie going up now that she's lost? The first impression is that she's arrived a loser. Perhaps it's why they don't make impact initially when they arrive. Compare with Asuka who never lost. Before she debuted, they had a match for who would get to face her. That's how I see it. I always apply logic to these debates.

another thing I don't get is why they have to lose before they migrate. Why lose to a rookie when you're becoming a main roster person. Makes no sense. Cena don old, Roman is not active, Cody is still good but he's being rejected little by little, Rollins in more interested in gimmicks, AJ stepped back, Drew is injured, Punk is old and frail, Kenny is still recovering, Swerve has cooled a little, Joe is tough but aged, MJF talks a lot, Mox is annoying, Hangman is good, but I believe Ospreay is that much better. Where are my lies?
