It was a very dramatic award ceremony at the 2015 Headies held in the early hours of today, 2nd of January 2016 as two of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry Don Jazzy and Olamide openly threw harsh words at each other over the outcome of the much converted “Next Rated Award”. The Next Rated Award which is arguably the biggest award of the night comes with a lot of recognition (and the bonus of a brand Hyundai Car). The favorite for the award Lil Kesh (Signed under Olamide's YBNL record) surprisingly failed to win the award as it went to Mavin artist Reekado Banks. Apparently this angered Olamide so he stormed unto the stage when Adekunle Gold(Another YBNL artiste) received his award for Best Alternative artiste alongside the whole YBNL crew, he snatched the microphone from Adekunle Gold and angrily blasted Headies saying the award should have gone to Lil Kesh as he had back to back hit songs all year round. Olamide stated “Iyalaya anybody” and flipped off the whole hall before dumping the microphone on the stage and storming off the venue with his crew. Just when we thought things had ended,Don Jazzy was given a Special Recognition award and in his speech he stated that he has never liked awards and the only reason he came for the show was to support his “children”. He also stated that he had told Reekado Banks and Korede Bello(who were both nominated for Next Rated) that he’d buy cars for them. Don Jazzy ended the night with a bombshell saying “Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it”. He and the Mavin artists also angrily left the venue. Olamide was not even present to receive his 'Artiste of the year' award. And the beef did not end there as Olamide took to Twitter to continue venting...His Tweets below... I went through all ds ish when I was hustlin like Kesh .... But mehn no one to fight for me .. The National Universities Commission (NUC) has increased the duration for studying medicine in Nigerian universities to seven years. Prior to this development, a student wishing to qualify as a medical doctor at the end of his university training, had only to spend six years in a medical school. Seven years will now be the minimum number of academic years for all medical students to qualify as a medical doctor. Study & Scholarships confirmed from a reliable source that the NUC has developed a new Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards for training of medical doctors in universities across Nigeria, necessitating the extension to seven years made up of both rigorous coursework and clinical training. NUC Increases MBBS Medical Training Programme to 7 Years Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Julius Okojie, presented the newly reviewed curriculum to stakeholders in the Nigerian medical community at a three-day capacity development programme organised for staff of medical schools in Nigerian universities in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city. At the event, Okojie noted that the new benchmark minimum academic standard was competency-based and would substantially address most of the challenges facing the institutions in the training of doctors in the country. He added that doctors, who people trust their lives to, must be adequately trained and competent to discharge their responsibilities efficiently. He further noted that the workshop was to enable the stakeholders brainstorm together so as to fine-tune the draft document and make contributions to it toward the production of the final working document. The curriculum review, according to him, was necessary because the frontier of knowledge in all academic disciplines had been advancing steadily with new information generated as a result of research over the years. Other compelling reasons included the need to update the standard and relevance of university education in the country as well as to integrate entrepreneurial studies as essential new platforms that would guarantee all graduates from Nigerian universities the knowledge of appropriate skills, competences and dispositions that would make them globally competitive and capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s socio-economic development. Nigerian Medical Students Now to Spend 7 Years, Instead of 6 The changes are geared to make new Nigerian graduates globally competitive and capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s socio-economic development. Okojie said: “We must build some good quality hospitals and make facilities available for the students who are coming out with competences and skills to work. No doctor would want to work without equipment. “We are trying to look at it from holistic view. Good learning and teaching environment; good medical centres and the management of resources itself,” he said. bosun11: omg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hilarious......................speechlessI am in the park now at enugu and some roadside drug sellers are using that to market their drugs telling passersby to bathe with and drink salt water to cure and prevent all nyamanyama diseases. Btw I have edited my former post. |
I came back early this morning from my friend's house where I slept over and went to buy recharge card only to be asked by the seller if I wanted to buy salt, I was shocked and asked the woman what made her think I came to buy salt and that's when I got the hottest info in town. She informed me that Ppl have been buying salt to add into the hot water for their bathe claiming that there's a new disease that can be avoided by bathing with salted warm water. I was greatly amused knowing that she was referring to ebola. I went home to meet a more serious scene with all my family members already through with there own salt water bathe and mine already ready. I tried my best to avoid bathing with the said live saving mixture of salt and water but my dad threatened to tell my uncle at Abuja whom he said called to tell them to bathe with the salted water latest by 6 am. Whoever formulated this rumor should bear in mind that rumours can be deadlier than this ebola. Thank you. |
