Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has hailed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for exposing Chinese nationals who tried to block investigations into a shoddy contract in the state.

The suspects are Messrs Meng Wei Kun and Xu Koi.

The EFCC is investigating a multi-billion Naira contract by a company they work for, China Zhonghao Nig. Ltd.

The firm is handling N50billion contracts awarded by the Zamfara State Government between 2012 and 2019.

The contract was for the construction of township roads in Gummi, Bukkuyun, Anka and Nasarawa towns and 168 solar-powered boreholes in 14 Local Government Areas.

Matawalle, in a statement on Thursday by his spokesman, Zailani Bappa, noted that the attempted bribery confirmed his earlier accusation that the company only collected money without executing the project.

The governor said the arrest further proved that his government’s claims on “atrocities perpetrated by the immediate past administration” in Zamfara State were correct.

“Sometime back, I cancelled the unexecuted multi-billion Naira contract awarded to this same Chinese company and called for the refund of the money. I call on Mr President to assist the state government to fast track the retrieval of this money so that we can actually provide water and electricity to the rural areas.

“It is pertinent here to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to further endorse his confidence on Mr Ibrahim Magu and his team as it is becoming obvious by the day that those calling for his removal actually have skeletons hiding in their wardrobes,” the governor stated.

A Ugandan pastor who downplayed the deadly coronavirus and tagged it just a ‘common flu’ has been arrested for ‘uttering false information and spreading harmful propaganda.’

The controversial cleric identified as Augustine Yiga of Revival Church Kawaala in Rubaga division in Kampala, in a video that made the rounds on social media, doubted the existence of Coronavirus in Uganda.

“Whether Government imprisons me, I don’t care, but I am speaking the truth, there is no Coronavirus in Uganda. They say Rwanda has over 40 cases, how comes no one has passed on? Do they want to say Rwanda has better treatment than China and Italy?”

“The President said Uganda has 18 cases and that they’re responding to treatment, does he want to say Uganda has better treatment than Italy, China, and the US? Has Tanzania reported any deaths? Kenya reported one death but I think the victim died from other complications not Coronavirus. Coronavirus is this common flu and cold that Africans have grown up with.”

However, the Ugandan Police apprehended Pastor Yiga and while confirming the arrested on Sunday, said ;

The Pastor is suspected to have said, in a video recording branded by BBS TV, that the Covid-19 is not in Uganda. The video that went viral undermines government efforts in fighting the pandemic and exposes the public to dangers of laxity in observing the guidelines issued.”


“The action of Pastor Iga promotes the spread of the COVID 19 and can, therefore, be considered as a direct attack on the people of the Republic of Uganda.

“Therefore, the suspect, who is currently detained at Old Kampala Police Station will be interviewed to establish the motive behind the dangerous utterances”.

Chacha Eke-Faani has explained the reason for her massive weight loss and decision to go natural.

The actress, in a photo shared in January, encouraged her followers to dare to be themselves.

She accompanied the advice with a makeup-free photo of herself.

Since then, she’s been posting photos of herself without makeup.

She has now explained in a new video why she chose to go natural and stop using filters on her photos.

The mother-of-three said that she became desperate to meet the societal standards of beauty that she was using almost any product recommended to her.

But the products made her suffer breakouts, made her skin lighter, and dug a hole in her pocket.
With time, she decided to stop and appreciate her natural beauty.

She added that she was also tired of living a lie by photoshopping her photos and using too much makeup.

She further said that most of those who look perfect on social media do not look anywhere close to that in real life and that she was tired of the “audio beauty and scam.”

A student of the University of #Osun has had her left ear bitten off by her roommate, identified as Folakemi, at their hostel in #Osogbo, #OsunState

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020, during a misunderstanding over closing of their room door.

Things allegedly got heated and in annoyance, Folakemi was said to have used her teeth to chop off the left ear of Yoyinsola.

The victim was subsequently rushed to the school’s clinic while the suspect was apprehended and dragged to the Oja Oba police station.

A lawyer, Christopher Ajah, has been arraigned before an Ebonyi State Magistrate’s Court in Abakaliki, the state capital, over his alleged involvement in kidnapping in the state.

The accused, it was alleged, helped a kidnap suspect, Agbo Friday, to escape from prison custody.

Southern City News learnt that Friday was charged with kidnapping and remanded in correctional centre.

However, he was said to have escaped in controversial circumstances with the alleged assistance of the lawyer.

According to the police prosecutor, Mathias Eze, Ajah committed the offence on February 5, 2020, at the Magistrate’s Court 1, Abakaliki, in the Abakaliki Local Government Area.

He was arraigned on Friday on one count of kidnapping.

The police prosecutor, Eze, told the court that the offence was punishable under Section 18 (3) of the Ebonyi State Internal Security Enforcement and other Related Matters Laws Cap. 55, Vol. 2. Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria, 2009.

The charge read, “That you, Christopher Ajah, on February 5, 2020, at Magistrate’s Court 1, Abakaliki, in the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did aid the escape of one Agbo Friday, who was charged with the offence of kidnapping and remanded in a correctional centre, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 18 (3) of the Ebonyi State Internal Security Enforcement and other Related Matters Law Cap. 55, Vol. 2, Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria, 2009.”

The seven man defence counsel, led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (Abakaliki branch), Festus Nweke, raised a point of preliminary objection to the charge on the grounds that the consent of the Attorney-General of the state was not first sought and obtained by the prosecution, failure of which rendered the charge incompetent and liable to be struck out.

In opposition, the prosecution counsel contended that he was not aware of the fact that the Ebonyi State Internal Security Laws contained a provision that required the consent of the AG.

He, however, conceded to the fact that the magistrate’s court had the jurisdiction to admit the defendant to bail, pending the filing of information at the High Court subject to 225, 83 (3) of the Ebonyi State Administration of Criminal Justice 2019.

The court, presided over by Nnenna Onuoha, after reviewing proof of evidence in support of the charge, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N10,000, with one surety in like sum.

She said the surety must be a past or present NBA chairman, Abakaliki branch.

The matter was adjourned till March 30, 2020, for mention.

Which of your mercies oh Lord can I deny? This domestic accident happened to me January 21 this very year.
What if my eyes were affected? What if this disfigured me for life?. What if....Oh God I'm so grateful ���.

•Lesson learnt please don't heat water in a microwave except if the cup or plastic is microwavable...
How did this happen?
I put a covered cup of water in the microwave, after the supposed time, i opened it, and it exploded on my face, splashed the hot water on my face, while the plastic cup came out with a force, gave me a deep cut on my brow and another cut close to my eyes. Who said there is no God?

Lesson two...please when aiming at a whiter skin, remember that, no one plans for accident. Once the skin is too thin, stitches won't stay in place.

Above all my injury healed and barely visible.
Thank God for blessing the hospital with a very good surgeon.
