EPISODE 2 I continued to run, although i did not know where i was running to and I was powerless to stop myself from crashing into trees, shrubs, stumps and all. I continued running until I got to a T-Junction, there the force acting on me slackened and i was able to stop myself and regain my breath. ..... Now, what do i call that?..... I was still brooding over what had happened when i heard another scream, this time it was close by. I cocked my head towards the direction of the sound and i started to trace it. Soon enough, i was rewarded with the sight of some people not far off from where i was. I moved a bit closer to where they were, before i hid behind a tall, gigantic tree to watch the proceedings. They were five in all. Two females, girls by their looks, were tied to a stake, with their long robes soiled and badly torn. One of the girls had a homely, oval face, long, red hair, a sharp pointed nose and a nice petulant mouth. I could not make out the features of the other girl's face because her head was thrown backwards, seems she's unconscious. The men had tough and fear inspiring visage, they were all armed with broadswords and long whips. By just looking at them, shivers ran down my spine. One of them was short and so stocky that I'm sure he'd have problems walking through a door without turning to his sides. The second man was abominably tall and the third? whew! He was the worst of all, his badly scarred face was scary enough. 'If thou screamest again, i wilt have thy tongue cut off,' Scarface said threatingly to the red haired girl, while brandishing his long, broad sword menacingly. ..... Screamest ke? Am i watching a Shakespeare play?..... The redhead spat out in disgust and replied 'Ye are all shadowless fools, i fear thee not.' The men, much taken aback by the redhead's boldness, looked at each other in surprise. Then Scarface raised his long whip high and lashed her right across the face. 'Stop it!!!' I screamed out in horror. In my anger, I jumped out of my hiding place and charged towards the militants. When they noticed me, they looked at me as one would a strange animal, well i don't blame them, they've probably never seen a dark person before. 'Who art thou that deemest it fit to disturb us?' queried Scarface. 'Leave them alone,' I commanded, putting on my most haughty air. I quickly dipped my hands into the pockets of my trousers to check if the firecrackers I had bought before going to school were still there. Good! They are there, these idiots don't know who they are up against. 'By God, it's he!' Shortman exclaimed. 'What is he?' Scarface asked, his voice dripping with disgust. Shortman said something I couldn't catch and Tallman nodded in agreement, Scarface's eyes widened in fear. 'Nay, nay, it can't be,' he said, vigorously shaking his head. 'It is he,' Tallman countered 'Can't ye seest the serpent around his neck.' I tried my best not to laugh. Chei! These people were more gullible than I thought, they thought I'm some powerful sorcerer, they thought my tie was a snake. OK! Time for some action, i charged forward, in a bid to scare and i was not disappointed, Shortman and Tallman promptly took to their heels, while Scarface stood rooted to the spot, frozen with fear. 'I prithee dark sir, harm not thy humble servant,' he begged. 'Shut up!' I ordered 'Now, if you don't want me to kill you, you must go after your companions and kill them both.' 'I will, thank ye,' he said, before running off as if the hounds of hell were right after him. ..... Hmmm! Dis my dream don turn to film o, when I go wake up na?..... To be continued. |
Remembrancer? I don't think there is such word. The post is rife with errors, Van. Please modify. Nice suspense though.
Remembrancer exists in the dictionary, u can look it up to confirm. And about the errors, i'll go back and check if I can find them. Thanks, it's a great honour to have you on my thread. |
EPISODE 1 .....Owww, my head oooo..... That was the first thing that crossed my mind as I regained consciousness. With my eyes still closed, I gently felt the back of my head with my hands. The pain had increased from acute to excruciating. A grunt of pain escaped my lips. I sat up and opened my red, swollen eyes, for the first time since I woke up. It was then that I noticed the change in environment. .....Good heavens! What am I doing here?..... I blinked rapidly in surprise, what am I doing in this thick forest? How did I get here? Thousands of questions flooded my mind as to my current position, but I had no answer to any of them. I tried hard to remember the circumstances that led to my unconsciousness, but it seemed the part of my brain that is supposed to serve as my remembrancer had been removed because I couldn't remember a damned thing. I looked around again, I was still trying to come to terms with environment I found my self. The forest I was in was full of tall, huge trees that will surely elicit smiles from lumbers. The whistling, chirping, cackling and thousands of other sounds made by the creatures in it made my blood curdle in fear. .....Am I dreaming?..... I rubbed my eyes hard, in a bid to wake up from my supposed dream, but no, nothing happened. I pinched myself very hard, nothing still. Yeh! It's not a dream o, it must be something else. .....Am I dead?.... A feeling of apprehension surged through me as soon that thought flashed through my mind. Dead ke? How can I die just like that? No! God forbid. I examined myself carefully, nothing was out of odds about me, my white school shirt and black trousers were still on and not the white robes ghosts were known to wear. I quickly dispelled that thought about death from my mind. Even if I'm dead, shouldn't I be in either heaven or hell as the good books have led us to believe? The picture of this forest do not in any way fit my own interpretation of heaven or hell. .....Hmmm! Maybe this is my last chance to beg for God's forgiveness..... I laughed inwardly at myself as I did a mental listing of my inequities, the ones I remember of course. Where do I start from? Is it those erotiq chats i do on 2go or those pornographiq materials i always read or the day i peeped at my hot neighbour while she was bathing or..... A loud, gut-wrenching, blood-curdling scream broke into my reverie and dragged me back to reality. 'Heeeeeeelp!!!' I froze with fear, then all of a sudden, a very strong force, far more greater than the inertia in me, propelled me forward. I tried hard to resist but it was no use, the force was too strong and in the very next moment, I found myself running, albeit against my own will, towards the direction where the shout for help came from. To be continued..... |
I couldn't update today because of the epilectic power supply, the story will be continued tomorrow. |

PROLOGUE (III). 'What on earth do you think you are doing?' Mr. Ogwuzi asked angrily, with his beard quivering and the corners of his mouth twitching. 'Errm....no....nothing,' I stammered in reply. In my confused state, I stood up, maybe too abruptly, and the copy of African Nerd I was reading fell off my lap to the floor. 'I'm sorry, sir,' I mumbled, when I realised that my cover was blown. With a slight shake of his head, Mr. Ogwuzi bent down and picked up the novel. He looked at the front page and a smile lit his face. ..... Thank God it's not Mazi's NYSC o..... 'I have read this book before,' Mr. Ogwuzi told me 'The author is errm... What's his name?'. 'Redmosquito, sir,' I reminded him. 'Ah! Yes, it's him. That boy who thinks he is funny,' Mr. Ogwuzi said. 'He is really funny sir,' I countered ' And he's a good writer too'. 'Well maybe he is' he paused a little 'but you still haven't told me why you were busy reading a novel while the lesson was going on,' as he said that the smile on his face disappeared while that ol' menacing look of his returned. At that point I decided, rather irrationally, that it was the right time to bare my mind to our master about my dislike, if that is not too soft a word, for physics. 'I couldn't help it sir,' I finally declared 'Physics is a subject i find very boring, in fact I detest attending it's class.' The 'Ohs' and 'Ahs' that greeted my speech from my classmates and the way Mr. Ogwuzi's mouth fell wide open like a cave led me to realise just how stupid I was with my choice of words. It took the astonished Mr. Ogwuzi some time before he realised that he had not closed his open mouth, and when he finally regained his composure, he did something I did not quite expect. His left hand shot out, fast as the lightning from Sango and hit me on my cheek, the slap was so hard that I lost my balance and I staggered backwards. I tried to reach out to a pillar for support but I only succeeded in hitting my head against the hard wall. That's it. I fell to the ground with a thud. The pain was so acute that I closed my eyes briefly, and when I opened it, what did I see? Everything had changed. Mr. Ogwuzi had suddenly multiplied into numbers I couldn't count, the ceiling of the class looked so close, I felt like I was going down a cavern. 'Stand up jorh!' Mr. Ogwuzi roared, But I couldn't even if I wanted to. A cold sensation started to spread all over my body, then everything that I had been seeing dimly before turned to BLACK. To be continued... |

Damex333: Try and make ur posts voluminous, they ase short. And pls continue. |
Why are your updates so short? And, African Nerd...Oh! I like how your fused that work into your piece.
It's because i'm on mobile and the thing actually looked long when i was typing it. I will improve sha. Thanks 4 being there. |
PROLOGUE (Contd.) 'That's right,' Mr. Ogwuzi intoned, while nodding his head repeatedly to show that he liked the class' responsiveness. 'Like i told you last week,' he continued 'Radioactivity is the spontaneous disintegration of the nuclei of certain heavy radioactive elements into more stable nuclei while emitting certain radiations.' Somewhere along the way, he lost me. Which was the signal for me to do something to keep myself distracted. I rummaged through my bag and after some time, I found something just suitable for the occasion; Redmosquito's AFRICAN NERD. I placed the novel discreetly on my lap, below the desk-line, where I was sure Mr. Ogwuzi or any of my Aproko classmates won't be able to espy it. After reading some pages of the book, I became so engrossed in the piece that I soon lost consciousness of my immediate environment. Until I heard loud peals of laughter from my classmates, I looked up to see what was amiss and Lo, there was Mr. Ogwuzi standing silently beside my desk, with his arms crossed and a dark scowl on his face. .....Chei! I'm done for..... To be continued... |
Weldone. However, You should use the Capital 'I' rather than 'i'.
Thanks bro. I'll modify asap. |
PROLOGUE 'Good moooooorning sir,' all the students in SSS2A chorused in greeting as our bald, freckle-faced, plump-cheeked, double-chinned, pot-bellied, eagle-eyed, Physics teacher, Mr. Theodore Ogwuzi, waltzed into our classroom. .....oooh! This Akpari man again! Why do we always have Physics everyday sef?..... Mr Ogwuzi stood for several moments in the middle of the classroom, gently stroking his luxuriant beard as he surveyed the class with the airs of a magistrate surveying his court. 'Good morning. Have your seats,' he instructed, after a lengthy period of silence, in a rather tiny voice that belied his tough exterior. I sat down and quickly stole a glance at the big clock hanging on the wall of our class. .....wtf! Is it my imagination or do the time really crawl during Physics periods?..... The fact is I hated Physics, ever since I came into exposure with it, I'd never really been comfortable with it. Although concepts in physics were natural phenomena which constitute part of my everyday life experience, but nothing usually seem natural about them when I had to tackle them in the classroom, with their definition, formulae e.t.c to be memorized..... 'Today, we are going to continue on our last week topic, which is what?' asked Mr. Ogwuzi. 'Radioactivity!' every student in the class shouted in reply. Well, maybe not every one, because i had already forgotten all about the last topic. To be continued...... |
Now I wish I'd kept quiet! ![]() On a more serious note, don't forget that most people here have other commitments outside of nland too. School, work, family...so let's take all of that into consideration, eh? And besides, some people might need a little bit more time to fully develop their character plots, settings, events, etc... It is well.
Other commitments ke?! Me i live on NL o .Anyways let's leave Monsieur Lawwy to decide about how long the interval between each successive posts should be. |
I only mentioned it on the assumption that the total number of volunteer writers increases considerably. Nevertheless, let's leave it up to Larry. That guy sure knows his stuff and he definitely knows what he's doing...
Errrm, i get what you mean but assumption or no assumption, the number of writers is sure to increase, i remember Larry said something about the maximum number of writers being 15 or thereabout and i believe we are yet to hit that number.A chapter per week will not be fair to our readers, besides i don't really fancy the idea of having to wait for about 3 months and 3 weeks before i get a chance to post another update, so i think the interval should be reduced like you proposed earlier. The ball is in Larry's court sha, and like you rightly said, he knows what he is doing . |
. |
By the way, have you considered shortening the time span between each chapter, to say - 3 or 4 days? Seeing as the number of writers joining in is increasing by the number....
Good point, i agwee with you. Lawwy, give us a new time table asap ![]() |

vanstanzy: Why on earth did NFF sack Siasia? He was building a team, and things like this need time. We can never get it right if we keep hiring n firing at will.True talk! Same thing will happen if they fire Keshi, we will just go bak to square one. It's like those NFF people think someone can just come & do wonders with overnight (wen im no b Merlin), even Westerhof only got it right at the THIRD trial. |
If the Mikel had scored that penalty; If Musa hadn't bn a minus one; If Emenike had slid in that ball in the 65th minute; If the referee hadn't bn such an eediot; If Musa had bn taken off earlier; Eagles might have won but alas..... Anyway, same ol' hypertensive game from Eagles, i wish them better luck against Ethiopia. |
Hello Nairalanders, I have opened this thread so that we can discuss and thereby share opinions about our dear Super Eagles, who are currently competing in the Africa Cup of Nations in Group C alongside Zambia, Ethiopia and B/Faso. After watching Eagles play out a disappointing 1-1 draw against B/Faso in their first game of the group, how far do you think Our boys will go in this competition? Can they make it out of their group? Can they get to our almost traditional third place? Can they prove bookmakers wrong by winning the trophy at the expense of soccer pundits favourites Ivory coast and Ghana? Let's have your say, may God bless you as you give your comments. ![]() |
