atheist5: conte has this issues .bad man management .lack of tactical flexibility. those two points have been dwelled on by me several times here If by bad man management you're talking about Costa's case, then you're clearly wrong on that. Diego was trying to get back Player power that dominated the dressing room during the J. Terry's era. Either way Costa had to leave. Tactical flexibility when you have a bunch of stiff players who can't do nothing when switched on opposite wings? I had an argument here before about how Conte was not given ultimate decision over players he wanted. It's nice he made mention of that in a recent interview. I hope you don't swallow your words at the end of the season. |

Eruditor: What hogwash are you talking about?
Your link showed 2006/07. If you have their ranking for 2008 bring it that is the level that Pep took Barca from.
Show us how that Barca team would be top 5 when United, CFC, RM, Bayern, Liverpool, Intermilan, AC Milan even Villarreal that finished above Barca in the league.
Just like Leeds that made a UCL semi final too and got relegated 2/3 years after. If you want to see if a team is on the up, you look at their antecedents. City went from 1st (beating most of the top teams) 2nd (iffy performances) 4th (could not beat any of them).
So hold unto UCL Semi final. Just like CFC holding unto their own after finishing 6th in the league. When that team was clearly aged and declining. Where's the sense in what you posted? So because they finished ahead in their various leagues the season, they're suddenly better? Argue all you want but we both know it was Rijkaard that set up the Barcelona Guardiola rode on. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by VargasVee(m): 8:38pm On Dec 19, 2017 |
Eruditor: That is 2006/07 after they won the UCL and league in 05/06. Pep took over 2008/09. Try another story.
A team that finished 1st, 2nd and 4th (tied with 5th placed team) is on decline in any world.
That was the team he inherited in City.
Wipe the egg off your face. Eruditor: LOL.
Juve had been in Serie A finishing 7th 2 times before Conte. Conte is a good coach but please....please....
Juve won the league last, 5 years before Conte.
Barca were 3rd in Spain behind RM and Villareal. They were 18 points behind RM. They crashed out of the UCL semis to United. They had won nothing in 2 years.
If this team above is top 5 in the world, then Monaco is top 3 in the world.
Arsenal invicibles cannot be compared to that Conte's Juve. One team was imperial and elegant, the other was mechanical and brutish. That is why nobody talks about Conte's Juve till date.
City finished 4th before Pep came.
Use whip cream to eat your humble pie. This was you disputing their being at the top 5 them 2 years of struggle. Go through the link till Pep took over. Declining team that made their first semi-final in UCl? |

Eruditor: Monaco beat United in 95 and got to a UCL semis when Wenger coached them. They won the league too.
Monaco played a final against Mou's Porto and lost.
Monaco got to the semis again last season.
Tell us what Galatasaray have done in the UCL. How long since they played against Porto? Say let's go back go their in-form days. Since 2000. they've made 8 Appearances. Galatasary has done nothing and have 10 champions league appearances. |

Eruditor: Conte is a good coach but he has seniors. Every other thing you said here is hot garbage.
Conte took over a Juve team that had finished 7th twice before he came. They were not a relegated team. Not even close.
He is a pragmatic defensive coach which is why Mou kept throwing shade that CFC should not be celebrating him for winning defensively when he, Mou, was criticised for doing same.
Conte was known for packing draws. His first league season was heavily dependent on drawing games whereas Pep is known for crushing opposing teams.
Since Conte left Juve, they have faired better. Same cannot be said about Barca.
The pressure in Barca is the most- making it the most difficult job in the world because you must win by playing exquisitely. It is for this reason Mou was not hired when he begged for the job in 08.
City team best placed? *Recently relegated When was the last time Juve won their league before he arrived? Bleh Bleh. Weren't Barcelona amongst the top 5 Clubs in the world at the time? The Arsenal invincibles, weren't they playing for draws at the 2nd half of the season? Yes. City, best placed. When's the last time in 7 years they finished below 3rd? |

All these Guardiola asslickers Maan
He's a top coach, not a god of a manager.
Ask them what he has done, they'll go on and tell you how he promoted Messi and how he turned Barcelona Junior team around.
The same Barcelona that had about the richest academy during the years?
He'll be a god when he turns around a team where pressure to succeed is.
Conte took Siena, Bari to promotion in Serie A. Turned Juve from a recently relegated team to a 3-time Champions in over years. Even the Italy that basically every pundit predicted to crash out, made it to the quarters.
Fraudiola and joining the best placed teams where there's no pressure. |
