does nigeria need such infrastructure now, the answer would be YES.But not now as you might have witnessed That the GDP has decreased to 360 dollar from 500 from previous year so now emphasizing on smart city will be a burden on the Nigeria economy. There are lots of other serious issue which needs to be addressed first.


Nigeria is a huge country it requires a lot of funds for making a city smart and at the same time theor other issues like malnutrition, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment. continuous university. strike .these things need to be sort out first .

Government should emphasize more on smart people instead of smart cities, making people aware of the happening in and around the world.Sooner or later smart city will turn into the dull one if people aren't smart enough.

Because if you're talking about South Africa, let me make a few corrections. 1st of all, living in a shack doesn't stop anyone from getting medical care. 2) Shacks don't have electricity because it's an informal settlement. Meaning that those people are in a waiting list for RDP houses. 3) Shacks use community taps. There's one in every informal settlement because water is a basic necessity. So yes, they do have access to clean, running water & healthcare. The backlog for public housing is long, so it might take a while before all those people can be moved elsewhere.
