I have seen photos of Accra and honestly I find Accra better than any Nigerian city - including Abuja. Accra looks like a car city with low density buildings and the CBD is mostly lowrise but very impressive architecture. I would choose Accra over any Nigerian city any day.

why Ghana is not building skyscraper is simple, most of this ill informed illiterate Nigerians does not know .Ghana is prone to earthquake disaster. Accra has records of damaging earthquakes dating as far back as 1636. The last three major ones occurred in 1862, 1906 and 1939. the worst one Accra has seen recorded which is one of the most destructive earthquake ever.

The one that struck the city and caused a lot of damage and loss of life and property in 1939. it destroy so many rich sites and since then goverment has taken caution not to build skyscraper or limit it and many considerable attention.


if Accra is free like lagos, by now, Accra will be counting skyscrapers, yet with the lowrise building, she can comfortably compare with lagos.

Ghana itself has a higher HDI rank than Nigeria. Accra is honestly doing well than the aforementioned cosmetic city of abuja. while lagos is comparable and as for uyo. i think you are sipping a high dose of codeine for such stupid comparism. takoradi stand on the same shoulder with portharchourt.

i think it is not better by African standard either. It is one of the most unequal societies in the world, much more worst than Nigeria. . There are many desperately poor people and a few fantastically wealthy people. If you are lucky enough to be in the money over there you can have an amazing quality of life with a big house, swimming pools, advanced private medical care, luxury cars, servants, eat out every night etc. If you are poor, you will probably live in a shack and have no access to mains electricity and running water or medicine.

why i am not not please with Nigeria is simply because it has more potential to developed than any African state. it has the human resources, vital land for agriciltural work , lots of sun light and many more . yet , it is still where it is today.

i can comfortably says Ghanaian are richer than Nigeria .There is a high inequality rate in Nigeria . almost 90% of the country’s wealth is owned by some few rich men with questionable sources of wealth. Ghana may not have the likes of Dangote, Adenuga, Saraki, etc but on the average, Ghanaians are richer than Nigerian. One think I admire so much about Nigeria is the high sense of individualism where everyone is looking for an opportunity to take advantage of the fellow evrn with this, it shouild not be too much .

ivory coast has a lot of high rise building and many beautiful park as well. they suffer a little set back due to the post election civil war. but they are back on their track now.

Universities in nigeria are not credible. One time university of lagos comes first. On another site university of ilorin comes first. On another site university of ibadan comes first. There is no standard it looks like if you look at kenya the top university is always number one and in ghana the top university is always number one whatever website you go to. Butt in nigeria different websites please different universities at the top I was just looking at the website now please seed university of ilorin above university of lagos. A top university like covenant does not feature any way. It looks like the education system in nigeria and the ranking system is totally in chaos. I think the ranking system in nigeria is which university can get more money from the government.

There are hardly, if any Ghanaians that grew up in Ghana leaving Ghana to attend a university in Nigeria. But there are thousands of Nigerians in universities in Ghana.

Of the 18 universities in Africa that even feature on the QS University Rankings (half of them in South Africa), the University of Ghana is the only one from West Africa on the list.
