1D1F: PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO COMMISSIONS CERAMICS TILE FACTORY IN KPONE The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, 27th February, 2018, commissioned the Fujian Sentuo Ceramics Company, a ceramic tile manufacturing company operating under the 1-District-1-Factory initiative, located in Kpone, in the Greater Accra Region. With the company employing some 1,500 employees, and souring 90% of its raw materials from Ghana, mainly from the Central and Western regions, President Akufo-Addo thanked the promoters of the company for taking advantage of the policies rolled out by Government, under the 1-District-1-Factory Policy, in order to make these investments. Addressing the commissioning ceremony at the premises of the factory, the President indicated that his Government wants to achieve a significant level of industrial development, that is why he commenced, immediately after his assumption of office, a programme of industrial transformation. “The industrial transformation agenda is anchored on a 10-point plan, confronting the private sector and its ability to spearhead the development of our country. Some of those are the high cost of doing business, lack of access to medium- and long-term financing, poor infrastructure and logistics support for enterprises and commercial activities, inadequate skilled manpower and limited access to technology, innovation and research,” he said. All of these challenges, the President assured, are being addressed by the policies of government. He indicated that Government is working hard to “bring down interest rates so that we increase the ability of businesses to fund their activities, while we are putting in place new arrangements for the Agricultural Development Bank and the National Investment Bank, so that it can be more focused on providing the funds for medium- and long-term investments for industrial development.” In addition to these, President Akufo-Addo noted that, in the course of the last two years, the monetary policy rate of the Bank of Ghana is reducing, and inflation has also come down significantly, adding that “all of these are efforts that we are making to improve the business environment and make it possible for our enterprises in Ghana to be competitive”. Touching on the cedi, the President stated that “I am extremely upset and anxious about it too, but I want to assure you that all efforts are being made to arrest the decline and restore the cedi to stability, in order to improve the competitiveness of Ghanaian industry. Very soon, we will be seeing the results of our policy.” He urged residents of the people of Tema Kpong Katamanso “to embrace this factory and the work that is being done here and give the Chinese promoters of the factory the maximum support.” President Akufo-Addo reiterated that “I am determined in my period in office to make the steps that will bring about structural changes in the manner in which the Ghanaian economy works, so we can have the sustained development and progress that our people are looking for.”

one hater call it ineffective becuse it is not happening in its village ..... ""INDUSTRIALIZATION AGENDA; 1D1F: BIRIM GETS OIL PROCESSING FACTORY The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has inspected works at the Birim Oil Mill, a palm oil processing plant co-opted into Government’s 1-District-1-Factory initiative. The project, located in the Kade constituency, when in full operation, is expected to employ some 300 people with varied technical skills at the factory, including other unskilled labour. The factory is also expected to employ some 10,000 workers to work on a 25,000 acre of land to feed the factory whose main products will include laundry soaps, personal wash detergents, refined cooking oil and edible palm oil. Birim Oil Mills Co. Ltd., according to management, has the capability of expanding its current capacity of 30ton/hr to 60ton/hr, implying that the company has the potential of utilizing the output from 50,000-acre oil palm plantation which can employ about 20,000 people. Speaking at the inspection, President Akufo-Addo noted that the project will afford existing small holder farmers to increase their cultivation of oil palm, whilst new and prospective commercial farmers would be attracted to undertake plantation development, leading to increased incomes and improved livelihoods for the people in the Kwaebibirem District and its environs. The Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Alan Kyerematen, who also spoke at the function indicated that Government has approved an Incentive Framework specially designed for the 1D1F designated companies. StaffofOrayan:probably my last reply to this kind of porous thinking ? what liberal nation do in protecting local industries is not banning competitive product but raising up tariffs from foreign competitors which has not established agreement of free trade policy. Protectionism is temporal solution to a long time problem. it probably creates jobs for domestic workers or perhaps raised emergency millionaire but the benefit ends once other countries retaliate by erecting their own protectionism. so such policy is very dangerous in 21st century and in the long run, trade protectionism weakens the industry. Without competition, companies within the industry have no need to innovate. There's no need to. Eventually, the domestic product will decline in quality. It will be lower quality and more expensive than what foreign competitors produce. that is what buhari is aiming to achieve. |
Just30:Ghana produce its own meat and consume more meat than Nigeria per head . |
Just30: ![]() |
StaffofOrayan:You are notoriously grasping at straw, and I don't know why you are doing these. it seems to me , you don't even understand your own argument. it is unnecessarily unproductive to import what a nation does better . who in its right head import crude oil to Nigeria. Ghana didn't place banned on cocoa beans stop lying but naturally no one will venture into such trade since it is unproductive to do so. during ivory coast civil unrest, Ghana was the gateway of ivory coast cocoa beans to Europe. Banning product across liberal country aren't meant to be protectionist but on security or sanction purpose. liberal country don't banned product related to trade, they rather work on competitive advantage . trade aren't done blindly ..... To ban imports from China would be to ban participation in the digital economy. There are very few computers, smartphones, and other digital products that aren't made in China. By dominating the manufacture of electronics, China has made it's exports indespensible. Banning Chinese products would be an economic death sentence for any country...... You can export as much as you can into China, it just must meet communism standard and regulation, Ghana just identify the place as the next home of its bitter alcoholic beverages. tax system is a soft mechanism to protect local industry not an outright banned to importers. despite the huge tax to invest in banking sector in Nigeria, there is still a lot of foreing banks . kfc chicken are independent company from sweet sensation. both but of them can work as synergies if their buisness demand it. two of dangote subsidiary are collaborating right now. in Ghana, two telecommunication company have form a synergy. Airtel and Tigo .... if your works and prospect demand it. it can work and better for two weak company. All telecoms in Ghana allow interoperability on mobile money . Why dont you ask question instead of argument. it seems to me you don't even understand your own argument. very poor if you ask me. |
samorobo:Good development for Nigeria as it bound to ease unemployment ... But whatever the case , Ghana is already in similar buisness. producing railway sleeper.....that is the video since you like YouTube yourself . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjchl1ZXTuI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq6JE-bl9Bo |
StaffofOrayan:You quoted me back with so many irrelevant topic that is off topic . being a dumping site for commodity been produce aborad is another topic entirely. You are just grasping on weak defence . we are talking about importation as regards to trade here..... I hate goal post shifting....... And I am surprised you only want to believed in the songs that rings In your head. cocoa production is a matter of planning and timing, this is what I raised ealier, You don't just wake up one day and become a cocoa producer or chocolate investor. it takes planning and timing as i mention earlier . swizz can produce cocoa if it so wish, climatic condition is not an hindrances in this days of mechanization when green house technology can do better and also produce better yield..... You can't defend Nigeria with this kind of poor understanding particularly when you yourself refuse to learn. Nigeria has placed ban on import of over 43 commodities and control it heavily by those who has the license to import them.. What do you produce that you deem it fit for Europe consumption. what do you do in africa if not primary and agrarian investment with zero value substitute . You have to be productive to compete in Europe market . China had passed such test . You see Chinese goods almost everywhere even America stores. Czech republic is seriously becoming a new market for Chinese goods and capital investment ... You don't become giant by being protective but by being productive. |
