Jonraid:Industrialization and for the purpose of making dollars . it good when you export more to the neighbouring country, they pay in hard currency. |
Problemkid1:in the rural community. |
Problemkid1:You should ask yourself which part of the city is located. that train station is located in rural area of Ghana. why should they spend billions of cedis building cosmetc project. and if you wanted to be bit smart, you will know it is not for urban Ghanaian next time I will not reply if I realised it is not sensible. UK and Germany has rural rainline and it is just that way... That is UK rural train station below....

Ghana again Agrictourism.....( One district one factory) GRAIN processing factory in Volta region The project has rice mills and silos, all about 90% complete has "massive potential" to meet demands in the country and export. The project comprised three sub businesses- cultivation, cereal processing and agritourism, with the four metric tonnes per hour rice mill capable of processing about 20,000 metric tonnes of paddy rice per year in a two-shift cycle. The company also has a 500-acre farm that served as a demonstration farm to support the agro-processing and agritourism sub businesses. The agritourism business was primarily to draw more Ghanaians, especially the middle class, into farming, as a cool, fun and viable investment option using a crowd farming model. Under that initiative, the company would develop an Agric estate and encourage people to invest in identifiable farm lots per season just as they would invest in treasury bills, but with the harvests as a return. The company has 300 out-growers, 1,500 farm hands-on out-grower farms, 10 input workers, 15 factory hands, 100 farmhands, 15 administrative and management officials and 10 sales officers for its "Gogo" rice from the demonstration farm.

Jonraid:The current president already commissioned "the commercial exploration of oil at Cape Three Point in the Western Region. and it is expected that the project will deliver an additional 30,000 barrels per day of oil and 180 million cubic feet (5.07 million cubic metres) per day of gas to Ghana". The oil field is one of the third after the Jubilee and all the TEN oilfields are all in the Western region. They have been two additional oil well discover this year in high quantity. The gas from the project is expected to help Ghana generate 1,100 MW of additional electricity which probably maybe exported for additional cash since Ghana currently produce over 5000 megawatt. well , industrialization may change the plan. |
achimotan:Sure , Dangote refinery investment is much higher but on the gas exploration investment, no country has ever implement such on a large scale in west africa .. As at the time dangote unveiled its plan in 2013 , it was estimated the refinery will cost 9 billion dollar of which dangote pledge to source 3.3 billion dollar on his own and secured the rest thru loans and others.... but time factor and other technological enhancement may have change the current price. the funny thing , it has been postponed till 2021. I agree, it is the best project that has ever come from Nigeria as an oil producing state. |
Blue3k:Sure exporting raw product has never been a way forward for any developing country, Switzerland chocolate market is worth over 2 billion dollar and this is for a country that produce visually no amount of cocoa beans. I can imagine if this is going into Ghana Pulse, currently, chocolate market is worth over 160 billion dollar. meaning it is valuable as any other traditional product world wide. Ghana been the second largest cocoa producing country globally can really do better than Switzerland if mechanization is annexed That being said , controlling the premium price is the right step in the good direction, Ghana and cote devoire produce more than 60 percent of the world cocoa beans therefore can't be given a peanut on what she has the lion share , she does need to fight for the local farmers. while accepting mechanization is the way forward for a successful cocoa industry, it must be emphasised that world leading cocoa producer must have a say into trade they do better than anyone . The farmer must be compensated handsomely. The Nigerian government understands the need for more mechanized farming but they simply haven't done enough. I noticed the article did mention a few initiatives. The border will eventually reopen and we'll be back to discussing these issues at the end of the day.Nigeria case is diffrent , protectionism is an anchor of Nigeria political policy, right from 1980s to 1990. and they are still doing it in 21st century creating emergency millionaire instead of high number of middle class. who was dangote in the 1990s and who is he now? . Over 36 million naira debt owned by local rice farmers are still yet to be recovered, they have been complaining to both the CBN and presidency for the Goverment to padlock Nigeria border so that, they can enjoy Nigeria market all to themselves. And that is what goverment implement . |
I laughed when Nigerians says Dangote refinery is the biggest capital investment in west africa or Africa... ""one of Ghana former president achievements include one of the biggest gas investment in recent times and the first of its scale in West Africa. It amounted to a whooping $7 billion in the Sankofa Gye Nyame Fields where the agreement on the offshore Cape Three Point project was signed in early 2015. The project was projected to produce 50,000 barrels of oil per day by 2017 and 180 mmscf/d of gas by 2018. Two development well were drilled as at September 2015. Key commercial agreements of this project , including a gas sales agreement, a multiparty deed agreement, and a sovereign guarantee were signed between the OCTP partners and the government of Ghana""

ijustdey:MaY the spirit of pan Africanism and love of wisdom never depart from the writter. I am so impressed. |
DEBJOCH1:Do you know how much is fuel sold in venuezela , Saudi Arabia, Norway, United States and Russia? This are heavy oil producing nation. |
yashau:https://www.mofep.gov.gh/press-release/2019-02-14/ghana%27s-oil-production-estimated-to-go-up-to-500%2C000-Barrels-per-day-by-2024 |
livingoracle:Ghana once subsidised fuel but it was later removed when it was occasionally smuggled to Burkina Faso. fuel is more expensive in Burkina than Ghana. goverment acted on the best practice, removing the subsidy will make the smuggling unattractive . |
mrvitalis:it is far more expensive than Nigeria. any issue ? |
Shma:Kenya is a place to visit. my Liberia g friend who was there with her pastor uncle had told me much about your country...... |
efighter:i am not in Nigeria. |
mrvitalis:Ghana is not subsidising oil. prices are reflected by demand and market force. Ghana rather subsidised health care, make education free from basic to secondary school with free feeding, subsidised fertiliser and agricultural product ..... And likewise provide loans for university student..... |
mrvitalis:no country you listed up there produce the amount of oil Ghana produce in a day. 2 hundered thousand barrels of oil in a day is significant for a country that has less than 30 million people. she has discover more than two well this year alone, about to double its production sooner. Ghana already have refinery as far back as 1960s, with many small refinery located across the country. and this was before she discover oil. she once refined Nigeria oil . The amount of oil she produce fetch her billions of dollar annually, that is very significant for 30 million people. |
