INDUSTRIALIZATION AGENDA:1D1F; IN LINE WITH GOVERNMENT’S INDUSTRIALIZATION AGENDA, A COCOA PROCESSING FACTORY HAS BEEN INAUGURATED SPINTEX ROAD ACCRA. Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has inaugurated a $30 million cocoa processing factory at the Spintex Road in Accra. The factory, which is expected to process 15,000 tonnes of cocoa beans annually, is one of the projects earmarked under the government flagship programme, “One-District, One Factory”. The Afrotropic Processing Company Limited (ACPL) will produce quality products that could be used for chocolate, cocoa powder, cocoa liquor and cocoa butter. It is also expected to add up to the number of cocoa tonnes processed locally, which stood at 300,000 tonnes last year. Speaking at the event, Mr. Kyerematen said the inauguration is part of government’s plan to to ensure that 50 percent of raw materials are processed locally. He noted that, government is focused on the implementation of key economic reform programmes and policies to ensure that local industries were built to withstand the dynamic nature and volatilities of the global business environment. The Trade Minister was enthused about the recapitalisation of Afrotropic because of the fact that cocoa which continue to be the backbone of the economy had less than 400,000 tonnes of the raw beans being processed for value addition in the country. He was very happy the factory would create employment of more than 350 direct and indirect jobs for the people across the country. ""As part of efforts to attract foreign direct investments, Alan Kyerematen revealed that, “government worked hard to reduce the debt stock to the GDP ratio from 73 per cent to 57 per cent between 2017 and 2019.” Alan Kyerematen asked the cocoa processing factory to take advantage of the free export markets Ghana enjoyed with both America and Europe while making preparation to also take advantage of the upcoming Africa Single Market under the Continental Free Trade Zone, an African initiative for free trade in the middle of the year.

djdutchboy:The dude is on dog rabbies... |
djdutchboy:I am not defending obasonjo but i will encourage you to go read my watch. he defend himself.... |
djdutchboy:Nigeria electricity issue isn't much about the amount of cash going into the system. it is about administration and management at most .... Nigeria is not that industrialized, having 6000 megawatt is enough as it is. You will need to go read much about obasonjo success on electricity. have you read my watch .... funding the electricity sector with additional 3 billion dollar loan isn't much on the right direct direction. there is much more technical issues to be solve first. |
Blue3k2:The current goverment is highly power drunk . she will not allow it. there is the mind of ego among Nigeria politicians . fashola had once paint Ghana success on electricity in a very childish manner. The only president Nigeria will ever celebrate till death is obasonjo and that will be when he is dead . he is the only person with such positive mind among Nigeria leaders |
Blue3k2:Holistically, the debt rate keeps skyrocketing. but on another look , it isn't much a biggy. All things been equal, if the growth rates continue, it will led to a bigger national income, measured by GDP and that whittled down the debt-to-GDP ratio which is a key criterion in assessing debt sustainability. so technically, the debt is sustainable as economy growth rate stands at 7 percent. next year have been projected to be lower down to 5 percent.. I wasnt sure about the ivory coast since I only saw one article state it. Anyway these factories better start up asap then. Has the Bauxite refinery been finalized? Can you clarify if their making aluminum oxide or aluminumYea, Ghana supply some of the electricity consume in ivory coast and currently on negotiation to construct line pipe that will link Ghana to ivory coast for constant gas supply from main Ghana station .. Ghana currently smelts alumium at its goverment owned company valco. The company smelts alumina to produce aluminium ingots which is mainly used for industrial purpose. At the moment the bauxite industry if successfully achieved can earn Ghana over 400 billion dollars according to the company .... |
Blue3k2:Ghana also export to ivory coast as well..... Ghana new industry will soon take it over as more industry are springing up under the initiative of 1 district 1 factory.program. There is plan underway to construct bauxite refinery which Ghana has in abundance . that alone can consume over 2000 megawatt. if goverment plans work , the overcapacity will not be a problem. Ghana is currently generating over 5000 megawatt for a nation less than 30 million... |
so it is not oly Americans moving in numbers , there are delegation of 60 people who travelled to Ghana from the Netherlands. Most of them are from the Suriname community and feel a strong connection to Africa......
