wristbangle:first of all, Ghana is not threatening Nigeria.( GUTA) is not a mouth piece of the goverment but of the traders. so to correct you further , businesses that fly away from Nigeria didn't do it becuse of cost of product. but lack of Nigeria goverment incentives to buisness enviroment. it is even more expensive to produce in Ghana than Nigeria. Ghana buisness enviroment is one of the most expensive in africa, but goverment initiative to support buisness works becuse the economy gives room for expansion which is the bedrock of productivity and growth, hence Ghana continuous economic growth. Businesses in Ghana can channel their market elsewhere. businesses are meant to be volatile. |
Beverley hills billionaire, Kenneth bordewick to invest in Ghana Ghana continues to be the preferred fertile grounds for investors as Beverly Hills billionaire Kenneth Bordewick is on his way to Ghana after expressing interest and big appetite in investing in the West African country. His interest in investment surprisingly isn’t in the entertainment industry but the water reticulation sewer system. A sewer plant that will convert sewer and waste garbage into biogas remediation. He also intends to invest in storm drainage systems for major cities across the country to help save the country’s recurring flood issues and its associated problems. At a meeting attended by Entrepreneur and Human rights activist Edith Chibhamu, Ghanaian comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger, Zimbabwean screen goddess Zuva Hibane and Celebrity blogger and PR Consultant Phylx Akakpo in Dubai, the billionaire agreed to partner Vanvejoe Ghana Limited to execute his plans. Kenneth Bordewick is scheduled to be in Ghana shortly for final face of negotiations with the Government of Ghana on some special areas of interest. The projects, which start with the storm drainage and sewer systems is expected to commence within the next 60 days. Source: Phylx Akakpo |
mtisTheQubit:first your chart is not reflecting the fact on ground. Ghana minimum wage has been boosted further by 11 percent .so your chart needs to take that into effect. The standard set for minimum wage is to get more Ghanaian engaged. ghana unemployment rate as 2018 was 5 percent and was projected to go downward to 2 percent by the end of 2019 both imf and world bank. ( making Ghana one of the country with lowest unemployment rate in africa) you see, When minimum wage is set too high it discourages hiring. When set too low it does bupkes, just as it does when it is set just right. Only it can not be set just right, as you can see the entry-level rates vary from sector to sector........ And again , Ghana is the only country I know in africa that has abolished tax rate for workers whose incomes are equivalent to the minimum wage. This law become effective in 2018. And in addition, every Ghanaian workers are entitled to free health care including their wards , free basic education for their wards and many governance social security scheme that will have come with additional spending from their income. tylann |
tylann:friendliness is a key component of hospitality. i don't know what you mean by Accra is still a learner. but if it is about living larger than life. i can bet you... Ghana ( particularly Accra offer some top notch in west africa, Abidjan, lagos and Abuja alsso are very exceptional. ) I may need to give it to lagos here ( Nigerians can really spend..... Accra too is turnning to something else. imagining finishing twenty thousand dollars at a sit, even in Europe you hardly see those kind of waste.... |
tylann:get this fact. Ghana GDP PPP per capital doubles that of kenya. which means averagely, Ghanaian are richer than kenya . Ghana is a prosperous nation base on africa standard and it is changing everyday with more people living the chains of poverty. it is the first country in sub Saharan Africa country to first halve his poverty rate by ( United nation social development goals standard). The kempiniski gold hotel in Ghana(five star) goes way much higher yet they received customer constantly.... regarding hospitality, Forbes once rated Ghana as the 11th most friendly nation in the world.
|
rvp2018:I already pointed out Ghana buisness enviroment is expensive . i don't think this is anything to be proud of because i said it is a development Ghana is working to improve. funding and developing a 3 star hotel is not a big deal because there are more of it in the system. it is the condition that attached to working in Ghana that make it expensive. Ghana is not just having one of the highest standard of living in africa for free. it is the cost that comes with prosperous nation. there are five hostel in Ghana too. and some are springing up so fast ... |
tylann:This is not true. Ghana has been rated as one of the most hospitable and friendly country in africa . top 3 ( according to Wikipedia report) and this a true direction from what is obtainable thru her tourist attractiveness. regarding the infrastructure, what are you expecting from three star hotel that is missing? Ghana 3 star hotel averagely will cost you close to 250 to 400 dollars per night excluding feeding. |
tylann:first , reconfirm again? maybe this time from multiple source. most 3 star hotel in Accra are way way expensive than five star hotel in Kenya. poor in terms of what? service, infrastructure or what in particular? be specific . life is not so expensive in Ghana if you live by your means. there is more cash in Ghanaian economy than yours. check the GDP per capital and GDP PPP per capital ? Ghana expenses is reflecting in the system |
Tylann ( This is just a glance)...
|
tylann:Have you confirm? |
tylann:it doesn't. matter about the best. the best doesn't mean the most expensive. reconfirm what i am given you. Ghana three star hotel is more expensive than kenya five star hotel. I am willing to accept my own mistakes. |
mtisTheQubit:You could easily do the googling.... just type five stars hotel in Ghana and check the rate compare. it to yours. An average kenya can't spend that kind of money an average Ghanaian will spend. your purchasing power is way behind. |
Kazikazi:This make a whole lot sense . wish i can like it two times... kantaka. Ghana understand it and that is why it has decided to establish in a country that understand luxury and can buy bargain for it. |
tylann:kantaka outsourced his product based on his specification same thing other manufactured cars are doing. |
mtisTheQubit:reconfirm what i posted anywhere. . check hotel rate in Ghana and compare it to kenya. Ghana is expensive for buisness ( A serious case Ghana goverment have found and trying to address.) |
rvp2018:Then check the buying power. kenya purchasing power is way behind that of Ghana and it doesn't seems like something that can ever cash up. |
rvp2018:This serious flaw from you. maybe you don't understand the mechanism in this buisness. manufacturer just don't outsource parts but parts which are manufactured to the automakers specifications( even toyota) is not exception. No one does this job a hundered percent not even Ford. Toyota is establishing a manufacturing plant in Ghana soon and. they will commence their production by next year August . |
rvp2018:Design, assembly and engine... no single car company produce every component of its cars not even Ford car. but is kenya better and decent than Dubai( United Arab Emirates)? where the company now extablish her new office. Guy kantaka manufactured cars is built for africa terrain and. can withstand such rigidity. as far as I am concern. kenya market might not be able to afford it. giving the fact that a five star hotel in kenya is cheaper than a three star hotel in Ghana. |
rvp2018:whatever he supposedly claim to call himself shouldn't be your headache . kantaka have proven to manufactured a fully functioned car and he has done it and pass. that should be your bone of argument . |
rvp2018:This is absolutely flimsy. You can't substantiate such claim. many of kantaka cars component have been approved by GSA( Ghana standard authority) and that is the first step of recognition before international standard authority) what rules has the company floated? and tell me which famous car brand fully outsourced her component her self..... |
rvp2018:I am challenging you to provide me any known or famous car brand that doesn't out source any of her car component elsewhere? calling kantaka is a serious offence to Ghanaian. You may need to provide evidence to support that? |
theenchanter:ogbeni 2019 report is out of sight. let's wait till then? |
Abohboy:let human index development determined that and the current Gdp per capital by imf/ world bank. |

Throw this hogwash into trash bin . Egypt alongside south Africa are the highest receiver of foreing investment in africa. bar north Africa, Ghana follow behind Ethiopia and south Africa. this is what United nation and trade development says. and this correspond to what world investment promotion says. this are two trusted recognized organization ...( Even Nigeria bureau of statistics agree with it)... https://unctad.org/en/PublicationsLibrary/wir2019_en.pdf |
DonBenny77:No you don't have them by their balls . Ghanaian buisness have been given preferential treatment ..... https://www.independent.ng/
|
theenchanter:....Enjoy your arrogance while it last. not in the mood for forth and back.... |
theenchanter:You are sick Walahi... most of what Nigeria media house do is copy words to words. even the most well circulated punch and vanguard are no exception . so what is the biggy ? independent Nigeria news is credible and authentic as far as Nigeria media is concern . fake as used in this case means not credible as well. try to learn the motive behind every words. |
theenchanter:This is one of your problem . arrogance to correction . if Sahara reporters is fake as I already presume you will indicate. will you also call independent news a fake report.... Nigeria media are know to be lazy who copy words to words rather than their own original version . so I am not surprised Sahara reporters doing same. this is independent news .... https://www.independent.ng/nigeria-benin-border-closure-ghana-secures-temporary-corridor/
|
theenchanter:what do you have upstairs? for devil sake. this news is more important to Ghanaian than to Nigeria as it speak for itself. if Nigeria media failed to to broadcast the metting and Ghana news house broadcast it . what is the big deal? or are you indirectly saying it is fake because it is coming from Ghana media house. what a brain do you have up there? look Guta ( association of Ghana trader are taking this case seriously) . infact they are pushing the goverment to implement the local laws that bar foreing traders from operating without having a certain amount of dollar. they are seeing it as what Ghana can capitalised on. Ghana goverment is just been diplomatic by visiting Abuja to have the case sort amicably. just to fight for kinapharma and Kaseperoko( Ghana leading product in Nigeria) that is it. This is the same way you challenged me regarding your mouth watering professor and called it a fake news not until the video was circulated on most social media. anyway the meeting can be retrieved from YouTube if you so like to know. Nigeria representative was there giving a case for Ghana. Ghana is in the top 10 of Nigeria trading partner, Ghana does not even have Nigeria in first fifteen. Ghana is also the largest trading partner for Nigeria in west africa . over 900 million dollar is at risk here . guy humble your arrogance . this is Nigeria media house reporting the news. ( called it fake because is coming from Sahara reporters. ....http://saharareporters.com/2019/10/18/border-closure-ghana-and-nigeria-agree-temporary-import-corridor-ghanaian-goods |
Kennyswagz1: ![]() |
Kennyswagz1: .....i have been to 23 states out of 36 state in Nigeria ( most especially the northern and southwest corridor) I think i am in the right position to tell which state in Nigeria is worth a city...... i don't just depend on Google picture but first hand experience. |
I am dissapointed in both Ghana and Nigeria decision on this....what is the essence of ecowas then? what happens to the spirt of neighbouliness that is the watchword of ecowas unity. why given preference treatment to Ghana and little economy like benin and Niger are still blocked from accessing Nigeria? Nigeria-Benin border closure: Ghana secures temporary corridor Nigeria Ghana Ministers Nigeria's Foreign Minister in a hearty chat Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and Allan Kyerematen Ghana and Nigeria have agreed on the creation of a temporary corridor on Nigeria’s western border with Benin, where Ghanaian goods in transit from Benin, and vice versa, can pass to avoid collateral damage arising from the closure of Nigeria’s borders with Benin. The Ghana Government is also expected to provide further information on Ghanaian companies that do business in Nigeria, the goods and companies affected and those likely to be affected by the closure of the borders, as well as stranded trucks at the borders to enable Nigeria's officials to better identify the Ghanaian traders. The decisions were reached when the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Shirley Ayokor Botchwey, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kyerematen, held talks with their Nigerian counterparts on the border closure in Abuja last Wednesday. While Ms Botchwey met with Nigeria's Foreign Minister, Mr Geoffrey Jideofor Kwusike Onyeama, Mr Kyerematen held discussions with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of Nigeria, Mr Otunba Niyi Adebayo. Abuja meetings A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday said the Abuja meetings were aimed at discussing further ways of providing a path towards resolving the challenges facing Ghanaian companies and traders following the closure of the Nigerian borders. Nigeria partially closed its borders with Benin in August this year to curb the spate of rice smuggling which Africa’s most populous country said was threatening its attempt to boost local production. Additionally, the move was aimed at stopping the movement of illicit weapons and other smuggled goods through the various entry points. The closure, however, has affected the movement of goods and services from the West African sub-region into Nigeria through that section of the country’s border. The Foreign Minister’s trip to Abuja was pursuant to ongoing efforts by the government of Ghana to ensure the safe passage of goods to Nigeria and the ECOWAS sub-region. Relations During the meeting, the Ghanaian Foreign Minister acknowledged the long-standing cordial relations and cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria. She also acknowledged the value of the combined strength of the two countries in working towards the prosperity of their citizenry. Mr Kyerematen, for his part, re-echoed the sentiments expressed by Ms Botchwey, while observing the compelling circumstances that led to the Abuja trip. Ghana not target For their part, the Nigerian ministers reiterated the fact that the closure of the borders was not targeted at Ghana but aimed at fighting against nefarious activities across those borders. source ...myjoyonline |
