Haven't your govt forcefully lock down shops of Nigerians before now...Tell me what I should call it if not disobeying the ECOWAS protocol..
No single goverment of Ghana has put Nigerians or any foreigners shops locked . what you read are from the locals not goverment. Ghana goverment are working effectively with the ecowas law and this is the reasons Ghana local law banning non Ghanaian to engage in retail trade have never been enforced since it dosnt materialized in 21 century. It is common you see Ghanaian diplomat arguing against it.

If this is done in a country among its citizens then it is up to them to resolve it but among nations that are under agreement, wrong...I don't think anything close to ECOWAS free trade exist in East Africa so yes such attitudes can be entertained over there...But setting your laws to go against the same ECOWAS free trade that you signed shows lack of respect to the body of "ECOWAS " itself. Consider this as us returning the favour
The laws was implemented before ecowas free trade agreement, and the law has never been enforced, infact govement had never honour the law , this is what is provoking the GUTA association. they are accusing the gov't of not been able to commit to the laws hence their frustration. east Africa too has their own trade agreement which is to make goods affordable and cheaper among members but it has been frustrated by citizens not goverment. it is common issue in Nigeria among ethnic group to fight over trade . it happens frequently in Lagos and other part of Nigeria. just of recent in osun state , there was a clash between the Hausa and the Yorubas... Nigeria case is even worst as it end up been bloody.

There is nothing archaic about it fam...Action they say speaks louder than voice. I am sure the govt Of Benin and Togo must have been warned occasionally and they choose to turn a deaf ..They are occasions where both country leaders(Benin &Nigeria) must have been together , be it in meetings and such..My point here is that they are not new to this thing, we must have whispered the warning to them and heaven know we have tolerated their wicked smuggling for far too long..why can't you call their govt archaic for not doing anything on their side to stop smuggling? Why is all attentions on Nigeria simply because we refused to play along for the first time?....
It is archaic because it is the policy buhari repeated for the second time in about 40 years interval , you don't warn a sovereign state, you deal with them in a civil manner, Nigeria can't tell benin not to import rice , it is an independent state , Nigeria can only dictate what we cross its border not closing it. there is a system of retribution in placed according to law binding ecowas member. this is where Nigeria needs to act civil and responsible . you consult the law court and matters will be table, unless Nigeria is advocating for not been a member of ecowas anymore which will be understandable. Nigeria is an independent state, it has right to opt out of ecowas .

I am.sure ECOWAS committee must have equally heard of it..infact I am very sure this issues has been discussed over there.
So why didn't the ECOWAS intervene then ...it is not Nigeria's fault but that of the affected countries and ECOWAS as a body..
It has never been discussed among ecowas member before, infact an ecowas top officials ( A nigerian) describe Nigeria as irresponsible member...

Irrational!!!! That's rich coming from a citizen whoose govt choose to forceful close down legitimate businesses conducted by Nigerians all in the name of revenge
Now point out where Ghana goverment has forced Nigeria shop closed. I decided not to answer that slow-poke when he made this false assertion, but you can help him out if indeed it is true. just point out to where Ghana goverment gives the go ahead of Nigeria shop closure ....

You guys have been the ones tampering with ECOWAS protocol...Isn't it funny that after your govt is trying to reach an agreement with our govt that gives preferential treatment to Ghana goods only(by passing through our border) your guta are busy pulling this lame action
This is done everywhere, check the attitude of the Kenyans citizens against Uganda traders, check that of south African, all this are done by the citizens who feel uncomfortable by their counterpart. it dosnt mean Ghana or kenya, south Africa Goverment agree with it. even in Lagos occasionally, there have been serious fight between Yoruba and igbo over trade, this are the same citizens of the same country ... when citizen which are original owner of the land feel threating, locals may take laws into their own hand. it has happen in jos,, kaduna, kano and lagos before . it is part of Goverment effort to deal with it.

We should be the angry ones here but then we are not cos this action that your guta has taken is very dangerous and we will gladly sit and watch how it will play out. The border was not targetted at you guys and fvck we don't even share direct borders. Now tell me which country is being irrational
The simple truth here is your country archaic law don't materialized in 21st century as nobody closed border, Nigeria and benin are not in war and neither is benin use as target against Nigeria by other hostile country, any issue should be forwarded to ecowas for dialogue and interrogation should be conducted in a civic manner as a law abiding country/citizens that practice democracy. The court is there in abuja for that. what Nigeria did is simply breach of ecowas trade agreement as falana rightly put it.

Borders Closure: Nana donates 450k CFA to stranded Ghanaian drivers

President Nana Akufo-Addo has donated a sum of 450,000 CFA to stranded Ghanaian drivers at the Seme-Krake Border of Nigeria and Benin.

Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah, made the donation on behalf of the President.

The money is to help ease their financial burden as the Nigerian and Ghanaian authorities dialogue over the reopening of Nigeria’s borders.

Mr. Ahenkorah and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Charles Owiredu, met with the Ghanaian truck drivers stranded at the Seme-Krake border.

The meeting afforded the deputy ministers and the delegation from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and CEPS to collate information about the particulars of affected drivers, companies and items on board their trucks to the Nigerian market.

Addressing the drivers, Mr. Owiredu described the closure as unfortunate and commended the drivers for their fortitude in the midst of the challenges.

He explained that the visit was aimed at getting a data about the traders affected by the closure of the Seme-Krake border.

He assured the drivers of government’s support to address the problem as quickly as possible.

On his part, Mr. Ahenkorah said “government is working around the clock to ensure that the safe passage the Nigerian authorities promised to provide for Ghanaian traders becomes a reality. ”

According to him, the effect of the closure of the Nigerian border will affect Ghana’s projections on raking in foreign exchange through the non-traditional export platform.

He was however upbeat that by the close of this week after meeting with their Nigerian counterparts, an amicable solution will be found.

Meanwhile, one of the drivers, Tahiru Mohammed, recounting his ordeal at the Seme-Krake border, said ” I have arrived here on August 16, 2019 but I have compelled to stay here and am finding very difficult to feed myself and my my two mates.”

The stranded driver added that about 200 trucks from Ghana have been parked at the border and a good number of them have had their parts including batteries stolen.

The latest trip to the Seme-Krake border is a follow up on the one made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and Trade and Industry Minister, Kwadwo Alan Kyerematen a couple of weeks ago to Abuja to find a solution to the problem.

It would be recalled that during the Abuja meeting, the Nigerian authorities explained that the aim of the border closure was to prevent the entry of contraband goods from Benin including rice and Ghana was not the target.

They expressed regrets at the impact of the border closure on Ghanaian businesses and promised to create a safe passage for Ghanaian traders to enable them to transport their goods to Nigeria.

One of the requests made by Nigeria was for Ghana to furnish her with details about the companies, trucks and goods being exported to her market.

The borders were closed in August 2019.

The last was in the 70s, no Ghana govt has built any rail track since the Brit era. The current budget of Ghana ministry of transport is 64 million dollars and it will cover highway. where is the audio funding going to come from? Statistics don't tell lies, Ghana has just one functional rail line serving Accra to tema. There is no project going on in takoradi right now. Ghana will succumb to US demand, since you will need the money to fund your impoverished nation. Have you read the follow up of the UK case? If yes, then you should know that will not stand.

I am sure you read the news without understanding. you stupidly don't know the news was a mockery of the past goverment inability to restore the current rail line that the new goverment have put in place .

Ghana is not loosing nothing but part of America deal of the contract agreement with pds and that is 190 million dollar( which is even avoidable)... stop lying, Your country is about to throw away 9 billion dollar, he had already dash out 2 hundered thousand dollar per court agreement. . deal with that ....

Bone that thing. Ghana no near Nigeria. Ghana dey try for their small size and resources, but you can compare them to Nigeria. How many urban cities the whole of Ghana get? Is it up to 6. After Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi-Takoradi, Sunyani, Obuasi, and Cape Coast, which other urban cities do they have. Nigeria has 6 urban cities in every state.
How many doctors have they produced, how many professors, how many world renowned businessmen? Do they have the equivalent of Dangote, Adenuga, Innocent Chukwuma, Okonjo Iweala, wole soyinka, Fela, Whiz kid, etc. In which sphere or profession will Ghana beat Nigeria?

Since Ghana depends a lot on tourism, they need lots of promotions to attract foreigners, and thus the propaganda.
well, it shows how ignorance you are to the world (Undermining a particular country because of her size) now add this to your list of the urban area.... Tamali ( once ranked as the fastest growing city in west africa) Techiman ( A commercial hub similar to onitcha) Tema ( An industrial hub of Ghana, it houses both the sea port and the oil refinery) koforidua ( The capital of eastern region) Etc.... Ghana is more urbanized than kenya and Tanzania in both and this is a country of 28 million ..... fourth in sub Saharan africa just behind Ethiopia

In terms of doctors , Ghana have produced well qualified doctors such as baron ribero, kufour and some others ....in the field of buisness , so many ( Let me mention company name , so you do the searching) kampack, Springfield, enginneeers and planners( The largest indigenous mining in west africa) Talking about academia, it is a tall list , that is better we don't even branch there but have this Francis allottey, Thomas mensah ( inventor of fiber optic) herman chinnery hesse ( Also an inventor) and the most promising one who works in most difficult profession on earth ( NASA) ashittey Trebi etc....

In terms of music , you only need to check the history of highlife, where it originate from.....Even fela had something to say about Ghana......for hiphop ( tbey have their likes like sarkordie ( he recently won the best international flaw at recent BET) ....

Comparing Ghana and Nigerian is meaningless because both of them are sons of Africa.... but if you must measure dicks, i bet you nothing shows Nigeria is ahead apart from population..... be it regional exams ( wascce) Ghana has continuously topping the list for more than 10 years now, be it soccer ( Ghana has gotten a better record, even boxing ( Ghana is well positioned)....

Tourism contribute little to Ghana GDP( It is not even in the top five list of foreing exchange earning . You are the one who should stop this jealousy , the country is developing on its own without contesting with anyone.......

No leader in Nigeria dead or alive is as popular like kwame inkrumah nor kofi annah
