Some Nigerians taking over from some other Nigerians and Ghanaians as you insinuated, how does that story fit into what is being discussed here?
You simply ask who is crying? and I show you fellow nigerians who have consider their fellow country men a saboteur in Ghana . See Nigeria understand the economy prowess of Ghana and how viable it is hence the opening of the so called temporary corridor.

You talked about your mere $200 billion purchasing power and I gave you that of Nigeria that can swallow the whole of West Africa, open another thread for per capita and we die there
You lack basic economics inteligence. to look at how a country is rich averagely, you check in GDP ppp per capital against purchasing power. if your purchasing power is strong and your GDP ppp per capital is weak then you are poor . it is simple it is not about your purchasing power only but your GDP ppp per capital that matter.

This is not in tandem with what we are talking about, these ones here are talking about how some Nigerians and Ghanaians are preventing them from the Ghanaian coconut industry.
So 60% of the coconut consumed in Nigeria is actually from Ghana and you guys go behaving as you don't want Nigeria's huge market? Buhari has really dealt with you guys this time, una go hear am
Don't you see it is Nigerian dealing in the coconut trade, it is Nigeria plying to take over the business and fighting over from their fellow nigerians

why don't you check the GDP ppp per capital rate ? you don't just factor in purchasing power alone.

.... and who has been crying and complaining ever since our borders got shut?
This is the people crying anyway......

The Nigeria Coconut Traders are accusing their Ghanaian counterparts of preventing them from fully accessing the Ghanaian coconut industry.

According to them, some Ghanaian coconut exporters together with a few Nigerians have formed a cartel to prevent new investors from contacting coconut producers and marketers in Ghana.

Currently, Ghana produces about 60 percent of the coconut consumed in Nigeria.

Secretary of the Lagos State Coconut Traders Association of Nigeria Hupatin Akpetunde who disclosed this in an interview with Citi Business News says the cartels use security forces and associations to prevent others from entering the market.

“The cartel is an issue. We realised that some segments of people are now trying to thwart our efforts of investing in the coconut market. The cartel is operated in such a manner that very few people want to control the market without allowing others. They do this through the use of security forces and associations.”

He believes with the high demand of coconut in Nigeria which has a population of about 200 million, Ghanaians can export more to that country if the market is made more accessible.

“Presently we have an Agricultural and Industrial revolution in Nigeria, and that has created a vacuum whereby we don’t have enough coconut to satisfy our market, hence we look at the neighboring West African countries and having tested Ghanaian coconut we have seen it as very rich. The quality of the food is satisfactory and the size is also acceptable in the Nigerian market.”

He says the situation is rather worrying and hinders trade within the region.

“The African economy will grow if we all invest and integrate ourselves into it.”

The traders who visited Ghana for the International Coconut Festival have therefore been meeting with their Ghanaian counterparts to discuss the issue.

This development comes at a time when Ghanaian traders are also complaining about the closure of Nigeria borders which has left millions of Ghanaian goods stuck in Benin.

The total annual production of coconut currently stands at approximately 229 million pieces of coconuts, equivalent to between 350,000 to 400,000 metric tonnes; majority of which is consumed domestically.

The Ghana Exports Promotion Authority has therefore announced plans to promote and expand the acreages for coconut cultivation to take advantage of the increasing demand on the international markets.

[s]The fact that you assume i work as a farmer in a village in Ghana shows how stupidly dumb you are and this is why i had to cancel out all the nonsense you posted.

Whatever the UNICEF or WHO pushes out as their figures for Ghana is what their ministry of health feeds them here. Ghana is majorly a tourist country and as such tell lies for a living just to make their country attractive. They are ready to blame everyone else but themselves for anything that happens in their country.

I LIVE HERE AND WITNESS THIS EVERYDAY. Ghanaians are criminals but they would rather cover a lot of crime perpetrated by their nationals while shouting from a mountain top over a few by other nationals just to make it look like their people are law abiding.

Its a brainwash technique they have employed and it seems to be working for them so much so that even you have been brainwashed based on the nonsense you typed above[/s].

i repeat you are confused and so deeply ignorant. Health care here in Ghana is not free. You pay for medical insurance and still pay for treatment and drugs at a subsidized rate. Speak on the things you know and not from your place of ignorance. Health care is not guaranteed for every Ghanaian because they die daily like fish over easily treatable conditions. Even their so called health care workers are ignorant of basic drugs for treatment. Every saturday here is a burial day for Ghanaians and you need to witness how many go on every saturday
What a stupid understanding, You actually don't know about the operative of the medical care than me. the health care programme is simply an insurance portfolio cover by Ghana ministry of health. it is basically free once you are insured for a maximum of a year at the rate of twenty cedis ( not up to two thousand naira). and regarding the funeral, that is Ghana culture, instead of arguing like a slowpoke, check mortality rate in Nigeria and Ghana to know who dies more often.

Herbal medicine is king here and not proper medical care.
You are so stupid, what is wrong in promoting alternative health care? what Nigerians are demanding to pay for in high demand . the idiot even say herbal care is not a proper care, what a brain do you have up there ? Ghanaian loves their tradition the reason you see them using Ankara for shirt or even suits .

Young man when they still live in mud houses with pit latrines in the village then i can say they are poor. Even their young men live in such mud houses and refuse to farm due to laziness. Moving to the city does not make it easier because they end up mass renting a room and go to public bath houses to bath daily. Some of them even prefer living in the village and travel to accra to work from monday to friday and return to their village on weekends.
Wherever you come in Nigeria will definitely be worst. Nigerians. village are known to be worst. even common light is even a luxury? those guys still avoid laterine but Nigerians they rather use the bush part....tell me which Ghana village is not connected to national grid?

Nigerians do not live in the villages of Ghana. The conditions there are too appalling for a Nigerian to cope. I do not live in a village. If you check my posts i Live in the central region and i am sure that for even you CENTRAL does not mean suburbs. You can read up the rest about me in my previous posts here and then cure yourself of this foolishness in your head.
Wherever you live is not my basic headache, it is your own problem and find solution to that....the fact still remain, you don't have a better life wherever you are hence your farming work in the village. Nigerians even live in more chaotic place . the village life. will have been better. sleeping under the bridge without bathing for days is not something to proud of.

Nigeria owns that much number of poor due to our large population which is the largest in the black community in the world. If we as a population of 200m have 90m who are below poverty line then we are richer and better off than Ghana who with 28m still struggle with poverty to the extent their ladies are sleeping with men in exchange for fish. 110m Nigerians are not poor and live above the poverty line.
smiley
stop fooling yourself, Nigerians simply harbour poor citizens in the world because of bad governance which have erupted your country for ages . check Ghana GDP per capital and Ghana GDP ppp per capital to know who is the richest? you don't claim you are richer when statistics suggest otherwise.... Are Nigerians more than India or Indonesia. Ghana is the first country to first halve its poverty in sub Saharan Africa..... how is it a poor country. Ghana has a purchasing power of 200 billion for just 28 million citizens , making it stronger than kenya and a bigger country like Uganda or Tanzania and you called that a poor country. are you daft or simply ignorant?

What you see happening in Abuja is what is happening in the ENTIRE Ghana just so you get my point. Abuja is just a location in Nigeria while Ghana is a country. It seems you don't know there is poverty in Ghana. You are so blind.

Imagine $36.5 billion for a population of 201 million people and compare to $13 billion for 28 million people. Lazy people who are always ready to leech on Nigeria.
see Nigerians are the problem of themselves.... Nigerians are the one importing used cloth, they are the importing rice , they are also the one importing old cars. benin buisness men are not into it . they only facilitate the buisness, it is Nigerians who helps the goods down to Nigerians. so blame Nigerians in this as well.

And again, what is taking the larger chunk is the import of Nigeria refined oil. Nigeria lacks the capacity to refined its own fuel hence importation. Ghana once import refined fuel into Nigeria once or twice.

Ghana cant leech on Nigeria, it is expensive to do that.....it is rather the other way round...

I can see you are confused. Be it in the village or city Ghanaians are suffering. Those you claim migrated to Accra for a better life was it not suffering in the village that caused them to relocate?

I have been to villages in Ghana and the story is same.

They do not have free health care what they have is subsidized health care through health insurance. They pay for tests and treatment but at a cheaper rate so its not free. Those who enjoy free health care are those employed with multinational companies and enjoy private health care which is same as in Nigeria.

The Nigerians who live in shops are similar to those traders in Nigeria who sell in the day and sleep in the shops at night which they sell from.

Most Nigerians live very well in Ghana and most are business men who own businesses in Accra. Kumasi or Cape coast or even Osu.

A very small number of Nigerians are into fraud here. Majority of fraudsters here are Ghanaians known as Sakawa boys who include money rituals and fetish means into their illicit business and even their government in some way encourages it by giving licenses to fetish houses and airing their fetish rituals and fetish advertd on their multi TV.

Many Ghanaians even in the villages who own farm lands are too lazy to farm. They would rather ride Okada and drink from bar to bar while chasing anything in skirts. Personally I got over 80 acres of farmland for free here because it was just wasting with the family only content with Farming on a plot where they planted cassava for their daily fufu pounding and consumption.

Government schools offer free education but not free learning tools. They pay for books and other learning tools except school fees and make up for the free education through making the books expensive.

Stop spewing ignorance.
What a nonsense. free health insurance is a guaranteed for every Ghanaian ( something that don't exist in Nigeria) free education and free feeding is also guaranteed for every Ghanaian( A luxury in Nigerians) . health care is basically free in Ghana, once you are insured, you are cover. you only pay a peanut for the insurance cover which is even less than two thousand naira.(20 cedis and that last for a year)

It is common sense that human thrive to have a better life whatever the kind of life they are living, Even dangote still hope for the best. it is stupid you don't understand the Ghanaian moving to the city is basically becuse of better life and not because they are poor in the village( this people you see in Accra are not homeless in the village, they own a landed and farming property) How can you called such people poor?

majority of Nigerians living in Ghana are highly poor, they can't even afford a decent accommodation in the village talkless of the town . someone like you must be living an improvised life. what is your work in the village? there is something that is taking you there and that is simply poverty, you want a new heaven.

Nigerians case is even worst, Nigeria is reported to own the highest poor individual in the world . over 90 million Nigerians are poor, that immediately crush India, Nigerians village is even another headache. try plying lagos to Abuja road. check owo, akoko, ibilo, okene and co and see how youth are wasting up thier life . no work, no education , even the one engaging in okada are more less on instalment .very wretched community.

In Abuja particular, most Nigerians can't even afford a decent life , so they move to kubuwa, yanya and other suburbs of the area. Nigerians are more like slaves in their own capital state.

it seems you don't know there is poverty in your land..... I will tell you more later.....

wirinet:
That's why I am laughing louder than a hyena when someone says Ghanaian economy is better managed than Nigeria. Ghana Cedi that was redenominated in 2007 due to hyper inflation . Ghana Cedi had a 20,000 note before the redenomination. To make the cedi look strong, they removed 4 zeros from their currency, so 20,000 GHC became 2cedis.
Even with the redenominations, inflation has continued to devalue the currency.

After the redenomination GHC0.92 exchanged for one $1, today GHC5.48 exchange for $1, a 700% increase. In comparison, N120 exchanged for $1 in 2007, today it's at N360, that's a 400% increase.
Another ignorance here, anyway let me enlight you a little ...

The depreciation of cedi is structural and not necessarily due to any form of mismanagement of the economy by the government in power. Ghana inflation is going down 7.9 percent, producer price index is going down, economy is growing at 8 percent(one of the highest in the world) Therefore cedi depreciation can never be attributed to weak economy fundamentals because all economy index proves Ghana economy is healthy, so it's structural.

in a nut shell, the main depreciation or appreciation of the Cedi is fundamentally determined by the supply and demand for US dollars. in Ghana. The supply of USD is mainly from foreign reserves which is dependent on the amount of foreign exchange Ghana receive from exports and foreign aid. With Ghana now classified as a lower middle-income country, the foreign aid component would continuously dwindle. unlike Nigeria(lower income country) that still received a larger chunk of foreing aid to support her expenditure.

in millennial , the only time naira has perform better without the support of CBN is 2000 and 2001. since then, naira have been overvalued according to IMf by 20 percent and with constant injection of dollars to back up naira.

naira is not in free flow like cedis. naira is strongly backed by CBN constant dollar injection. cedis is free flowing based on supply and demand. the recent Nigeria recession exposed the weak fundamental of Nigeria economy and the stabilization of naira . when. a dollar is been exchanged for almost 600 naira. Assuming oil price remain at 48 dollar per barrel, naira will have crumble further. check cedi value within 2016 and 2017 and let's talk agian...

And to your suggestion about hyper inflation

cedi was not redominated because of hyper inflation, infact at the time of redomination in 2007, Ghana inflation was 12 percent. it was simply redominated as part of the government’s efforts to convince citizens and markets that hyper-inflation is a thing of the past. Inflation was as high as 116% in 1977, 117% in 1981 and 123% in 1983.

You are wrong. An average Nigerian in Ghana wants a measure of comfort. The kind we are used to back home in Nigeria and in order to get this comfort we pay heavily for it because an average Ghanaian can afford to live in a room or a chamber and hall as they call it while using a public toilet as convenience. They do not even bother to include a kitchen in most homes and prefer either cooking outside or making it in a way that the person renting creates their own kitchen in a place called a porch which is meant to be the balcony region at the entry of the apartment.

Life is not easy for Ghanaians here but a bit easier for Nigerians because whenever we go to ghana, we go prepared thus enjoy relative more comfort than they do.

nigeria is doom , so you dont know made in Ghana goods to Nigeria ( international company) passes thru sea not land ? The only Ghanaian buisness that can be affected directly are indigenous company in the likes of kinapharma and Kaseperoko who also employ Nigerians in their chain of business. so Ghana suffer , Nigerians also suffer. anyway, Nigeria goverment understand this enough to open a temporary corridor for Ghana while closing the border for Benin.....

400billionman:
Nigeria is a wealthy Nation.

I think the income from Nigeria's ports is enough to rival income from crude oil sales.

Do and make Onitsha and Calabar ports operational.
No, the crude oil is Nigeria crucial export and largest revenue for Nigeria foreing exchange which is the reason border closure is not in anyway a direct problem to Nigeria since her economy is not tied down to most commodities export thru ecowas corridor .

Nigeria export 2.3 million barrels of oil a day and a barrel of oil is a little higher than 60 dollars. just calculate what Nigeria makes on oil and the country still breed poor citizens....

Nigeria is doom as your name suggest.... this doesn't affect Ghana in whatever form , inflation is dropping, producer pricing index is dropping. All fundamental of economy proves Ghana is on the right part. so this actually does not affect Ghana in any form.

Ghana crucial export( Gold , cocoa and crude oil) is not in anyway affected. Guta is only using it as avenue to awaken Ghana Goverment interest to enforced the local law that bar foreigner from operating without having certain cash of dollars.

it is Nigeria who should sit well, because the current boder closure have increased smuggling and encourage more criminals as inflation bit hard in Nigeria.
