The architecture of the town and those houses are not impressive. Those are like middle or even lower middle class estates in Nairobi. When I look at Kumasi - it look a lot like Uganda towns.

per the milestone. they are simply into field development and not exploration as their name suggest. they work with already confirmed well. what they just do is drilling and selling .... same thing Springfield, funsho alakija and other local company are doing . buying well and drill. they don't explore (search for oil)..

it is not about the life span of the economic growth but the rate at which the economy grow. only developing nation can grow with double digit . Ghana once was growing in double digit . somewhere around 14.6 in 2011 . this feet of China economic growth is only common to underdeveloped and developing country hence me liking it to underdeveloped country

Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP), an Independent Ghanaian energy company drilling in Deepwater offshore Ghana, on Monday October 7th spudded its Afina-1x well in the West Cape Three Points Block 2.

This is the first time an independent energy company in Africa is accomplishing such a feat and places Springfield amongst known exploration companies, mostly foreign owned, who are currently either in production or exploration phase of operation in a Deepwater area.

At exactly 6.50 pm on Monday, the crew on board the Stena Forth Drillship officially commenced the campaign which is expected to run over a three-month period on the block believed to be highly prospective. It will test the Cenomanian potential to the East which already holds discovered resources.

In August, the company indicated that it will also drill another well, Oak-1x which is within an already discovered field in the Deep Water Tano Area.

The Stena Forth sailed to its current location on Friday, October 4th from Guyana and commenced operations almost immediately, confirming what Springfield officials had said previously about the company’s determination to seek an early production option through the government’s approval.

Speaking to a section of the media in an interview, Springfield’s Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Okyere said that the historic achievement chalked by his company was symbolic of what determination and perseverance could do for any individual or group of people.

He noted that from the very onset, there were many who doubted the ability of Springfield to go beyond obtaining the Block from the government, adding that even when the company brought in the world’s largest seismic vessel to Ghana to undertake research, there were ‘doubting Thomases’.

Mr Okyere expressed hope that Springfield’s successes offshore and the numerous experience it had gathered reaching this far, would become a lesson to other Ghanaian and African companies to learn from.

He used the opportunity to thank the Government of Ghana through the Ministries of Energy, Environment Science and Technology, Petroleum Commission, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), EXPLORCO, Springfield staff, individuals and organizations who have contributed to the great successes so far chalked by the company.

Asked about what he thought the outcome of the drilling operation would be, Mr. Okyere expressed confidence and hope that providence will smile on Ghanaians once again by having an indigenous company become a full player in the offshore business.

“That is our greatest hope and prayer, that this opens the doors for more Ghanaians to become significant players in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons,” he added.

Nigeria operates in parameters and conditions waaay different from the black star.

Also, ...try to find out more about the Nigerian population to understand Nigeria better. About half of that population comes from the North of Nigeria.. The place I also call Niger and Chad Extension... If you have any basic level knowledge of the Nigerian demographic, you'll know that people of the north and South Two EXTREMELY different sets of people both in physical appearance and accents, Nigeria is basically two different countries stringed together by the British for economic gain. It was never meant to be and most Nigerians don't believe in the Nigerian dream or project, whichever.

Take this for examples

There are 10.5million out of school children in the world. 9 million of them were from Nigeria with the north account for 8 MILLION of them... That leaves 1MILLION out of school children to be shared among the other THREE regions in Nigeria namely the SOUTH WEST, SOUTH EAST AND NIGER DELTA.

As at last year there were only 3 countries left with polio in the world with NIGERIA being the ONLY AFRICAN STATE making the cut. ALL OF THE POLIO PATIENTS IN NIGERIA WERE FROM THE NORTH. thank goodness they were able to finally end it this year.

It was reported everywhere that Boko Haram was gaining territories in Nigeria and killing and kidnapping people but not one Boko Haram bullet was fired anywhere In the south. Everything happened and stayed up north.

The people of northern extraction in Nigeria have the highest population with about 60million people. Purely because 80% - 90% of northerners are MUSLIMS hence polygamy. A man and woman could multiply their family to an average of 6-8..and I didn't factor in the amount of wives a single man could marry.

Now the few educated northerners are the ones controlling the Nigerian government because of the military coup over the years..

The northerners are cousins to Chadians and nigeriens and they move freely between both countries cos they are basically the same with no ethnic or physical difference.. You could liken it to Zimbabweans and South Africans.

The North is basically a time Bomb waiting to Explode...and Boko Haram has started the countdown.

And despite the dumbest set of people in Africa being at the helm in the Nigerian Government we (basically the SOUTH) still have so many EDGES over many African countries ... The SOUTH of Nigeria is bigger than Ghana both ECONOMICALLY and in population.
