jaycent:The best competition is not about posting pictures, the best is about telling what is obtainable in both cities . Let me ask a straight forward question. Have you been to both cities?. If so you will be in the best place to have this competition. |
theenchanter:well, that account put together 2017 and 2018 into consideration. AND AT THE SAME TIME EGYPT IS NOT SUB-SAHRAN AFRICA. So the statement remain. GHANA is the second largest receiver of remittance in sub Saharan africa. . |
chrisagyei:No any sane individual will consider a place with that much rampant pollution and state-sanctioned deforestation “beautiful.” The only places that are visually appealing exist for the benefit of the wealthy. Majority of those who work in Abuja stays very far from the main city. The live in Niger and Nasarawa state. |
theenchanter:keep your opinion down your throat . |
theenchanter:This is an idiot, enough of back tracking. Shows us the 20 billion dollar is Egypt remittance back home and be fast enough to tell us if egypt is sub saharan africa.? |
theenchanter:Don't mistake the grammar. It is you i am calling petrified impression not your opinion. Abuja is a white elephants, unproductive to Nigeria economy and can not host the natural beauty of Abidjan and accra. Don't let the 35 percent part of abuja confused you that Abuja is developed. |
theenchanter:petrified impression opinion is not allowed.
|
theenchanter:Dont split lies . Where is your evidence |
theenchanter:Then here is not where any petrified impression opinion will be allow to thrive even if it is Sunday, it shouldn't give you the privileged to do so. Ire o. |
theenchanter:Your post is a complete rubbished but that will not mean i will not attend to it. Especially when charting with the very person who have first hand experience and not what the google says. Abuja is far from what can be obtain in Casablanca, Algiers, cape town, Alexandra or cairo. This are just some few exceptions. There are more than three city located at the center of Nigeria, abuja was simply choosen because Goverment want to diversify attention and focus to somewhere else because lagos already had taken more than enough. It is Brazil idea that Nigeria copy woefully. Well, the federal Goverment forgot to take the lagoon in Lagos to abuja ....lol. |
chrisagyei:whenever Nigerians tell you abuja is a beautiful place, just blush them off. Many southerners have not cross beyond lagos. I know many Nigerian in europe who tell me categorically that they have never been to Abuja and many in lagos as well. Abuja is a complete mixed bag, some part are developed and some part are very rural, according to abuja minister himself, he state: less than 35 percent area of Abuja is developed. Which means there is gooping gap of 65 percent. There is this Knushwant Singh, a prominent Indian novelist and journalist, he described ""a beautiful city as one in which the beauty of nature is combined with great architecture"". He explained that it should have ""green hills as a backdrop, an expanse of sea or a large river flowing through it. It must have a history. Its buildings, bazaars, plazas, markets, places of worship, museums, art galleries and residential quarters should blend harmoniously with their natural surroundings"". Abuja has no natural lagoon or any historical monument. Apart from the zuma rock which is too mountainous for such a capital city. It is just an artificial creation of babangida to shift away development from lagos. Kano or kaduna will have been the preferred location of the northern oligarchy but kano is too dusty for such a development. You may think, you have swallow the half of Sahara living in kano. |

AskiaHarem:Yet America shell and chevron company decide what Nigeria earns on its local oil product. I doubt if you know the take away of the above mentioned company from Nigeria own local oil. Ignorance America recent objection of taking sweet boni oil from Nigeria didn't go well with the economy. Have you forgotten? If any country is really focus in indigenous independence in Africa. Then not Nigeria. All indication point out to INkrumah of Ghana. So dont blame Ghana for the lack of vision and foresight of many unknown Nigeria leaders. I saw the declaration of Nigeria independence and I was not impressed with Tafawa Balewa says. Mainly oyinbo focus. . He was giving the declaration like a hungry mallam preaching in a mosque. There is nothing Nigeria is doing or can do that Ghana can't do better. Have you forgotten how Ghanaians were in Nigeria to teach Nigerians Maths and Sciences from primary to universities. The reason Nkrumah didn't succeed with a united Africa was not because Nigeria was any relevant or anything, it was because he didn't want the unity to come on the back of a war, since most African countries had no serious army apart from Ghana, Ethiopia and a few others. Where was Nigeria when Ghana was rolling with India, Indonesia and co to form the non aligned movement, that today nigeria is part of. If he had wanted unity at all cost, Nigeria could have been an easy porridge for him without any foreign interference on both sides. |
Now the attention and focus is changing..... i keep saying it. Everything is not about oil This is what CNN have to say...

On track to receive the highest foreign direct investment agian.. Ghana obtains Africa’s highest score in Aviation Safety Oversight Assessment Ghana obtained a provisional Effective Implementation (EI) rate of 89.89 percent, the highest by an African country, after the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) concluded its Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM) This is in line with the United Nations aviation agency’s Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP). The rating comes after a nine-day follow-up onsite activity by a four-member team of experts from ICAO to validate corrective measures undertaken by Ghana following a USOAP audit in November 2006. Recognizing this landmark achievement by Ghana, Minister for Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, stressed the need for the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to immediately develop an action plan towards the implementation of corrective measures that have been recommended by the ICAO team. “Ghana’s air transport industry enjoys strong government support, which is a crucial determinant for the aviation sector’s ability to maintain an ICAO compliant regulatory framework and to achieve accelerated sustainable growth of the sector in the years ahead,” Mr Adda said. The Minister further underscored that in line with President Akufo-Addo’s vision of re-positioning Ghana as the sub-region’s Aviation hub, Parliament recently passed the Ghana Civil Aviation (Amendment) Act, 2019 (Act 985) together with the Legislative Instrument on Aircraft Accident and Serious Incident Regulations,2019 (LI 2375) to ensure enhanced compliance with ICAO’s Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS). Speaking at a debriefing session on the ICVM, the Director-General of GCAA, Ing. Simon Allotey, reaffirmed the Minister’s remarks, noting that “this enviable milestone is a reflection of the robustness of our safety oversight system which ultimately translates into improved safety of airline operations.” “By adhering to ICAO’s SARPS related to safety oversight, GCAA effectively ensures that aviation service providers and airline operators maintain an acceptable level of operational safety.” The ICVM assessed Ghana’s safety oversight system on all eight ICAO Critical Elements (CEs), namely: Primary Aviation Legislation; State Operating Regulations; State Civil Aviation System and Safety Oversight Functions; and Technical Personnel Qualification and Training. The other CEs that were validated included Technical Guidance, Tools and the Provision of Safety-Critical Information; Licensing, Certification, Authorization and Approval Obligations; Surveillance Obligations; and Resolution of Safety Concerns. Ghana recorded a substantial improvement across all eight CEs, and the team from the UN specialised aviation agency identified no significant safety concerns (SSCs). “Our performance of 89.89% is world-class and places Ghana at the top spot in Africa in terms of safety oversight, considering that the average EI rate on the continent stands at 52 percent, which is lower than the global average of 66.5 percent and below ICAO’s current minimum target of 60 percent,” Ing. Allotey continued. The Director-General expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Aviation, Board of Directors, Management and staff of GCAA for the successful outcome of the ICVM, and to the members of the ICAO team for the professionalism, objectivity and cooperation exhibited throughout the process. Google open up its first african A1 lab in Ghana. Google takes on ‘Africa’s challenges’ with first AI centre in Ghana. An artificial intelligence research laboratory opened by Google in Ghana, the first of its kind in Africa, will take on challenges across the continent, researchers say. The US technology giant said the lab in the capital Accra would address economic, political and environmental issues. “Africa has many challenges where the use of AI could be beneficial, sometimes even more than in other places,” Google’s head of AI Accra, Moustapha Cisse, told AFP at the centre’s official opening this week. Similar research centres have already opened in cities around the world including Tokyo, Zurich, New York and Paris. The new lab, Cisse said, would use AI to develop solutions in healthcare, education and agriculture — such as helping to diagnose certain types of crop disease. Cisse, an expert from Senegal, said he hoped specialist engineers and AI researchers would collaborate with local organisations and policymakers. Google is working with universities and start-ups in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa to enhance AI development regionally, he said. “We just need to ensure that the right education and opportunities are in place,” he said. “That is why Google is sponsoring a lot of these young people for their degrees… to help develop a new generation of AI developers.” – ‘Clear opportunity’ – Other tech companies, including Facebook, have launched initiatives in Africa and demographics are a key factor behind the drive. Africa’s population is estimated to be 1.2 billion, 60 percent of them under the age of 24. By 2050, the UN estimates the population will double to 2.4 billion. As online social networks expand, that presents a huge market for US tech giants to tap into. “There’s a clear opportunity for companies like Facebook and Google to really go in and put a pole in the sand,” said Daniel Ives, a technology researcher at GBH Insights in New York. “If you look at Netflix, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, where is a lot of that growth coming from? It’s international,” he told AFP in a recent interview Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/04/google-takes-on-africas-challenges-with-first-ai-centre-in-ghana/ |
tylann:Guess what, after the completion of the building, only the few elites will be able to afford ir. I am sure mini industrial park across the 36 states of Nigeria will be more productive and economically reasonable to have. More educational trainning and more job will be created indirectly or directly. |
chrisagyei:i guess akuffo addo realised this when he sacked 41 staffers some days ago. After 110 ministers and these numbers of staff at the presidency and Duplication of roles at the civil service? Why?Some of them will have nothing to do than to draw their salary monthly at tax payers expense. No good justification can balance the over bloated appointment. Ghana economically should be checked as well. |
tylann:This is why i says, the economic and political institution of Nigeria weren't set up for the people but the few elites. You see them building eko Atlantic, abuja centinary, which we all occupied by only the rich ones. |
chrisagyei:Even with this figure, the public are seriously complaining that it is too much. Akuffo addo current ministers is over bloated and this i think might affect the economy |
tylann:i think the money contain allowances as well. Though this is different from a yearly constituency budget of 5.5m dollar. Nigeria's minimum wage, meanwhile, is less than 50 dollar a month. |
tylann:NIgeria senators earns triple of what American senators earn If this policy can be implemented, political career in Nigeria we see a new development. More interested people who are ready to serve their nation and not their pocket will come on board. People who really want to change, people who love the country with passion will be identify. Do you know it takes about 25 million naira to get a presidential ticket under buhari political party.. This is huge money, |
tylann:This is what a king from northern part of nigeria have to say. He was a former governor of the central bank of Nigeria. SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI TO BUHARI Change should start with the National assembly: A Senator receives N36,000,000 (thirty-six million Naira) monthly. If this is divided into two = N18,000,000 million (Eighteen million Naira). The second half which is N18,000,000 (eighteen million Naira) can be used to employ 200 Nigerians, each earning a salary of N90,000 (ninety thousand Naira) monthly. When you multiply 200 people with the number of Senators (109), this will give 21,800 Nigerians gainful employment. In short, 200 Nigerians will be able to live a comfortable life on half a Senator’s monthly salary. A member of the House of Representatives receives a salary of N25,000,000 (tenty-five million Naira) monthly. If this salary is divided in two = N12,500,000 (twelve million and five hundred thousand Naira). The other half, which is the sum of N12,500,000 (twelve million and five hundred thousand Naira) will be enough to employ 135 Nigerians with a monthly salary of N92.500 (ninety-two thousand and five hundred Naira) each. Nigeria has 360 Members of the House of Representatives, half of their salaries can employ 48,600 Nigerians who can live comfortable lives. So, Baba Buhari’s Administration can employ 70,400 Nigerians with monthly salaries ranging from N90,000 to N92.500 accordingly. This is just by dividing the salaries of Senators and Members of the House of Representatives. Half their present salaries is more than enough for them in a country where majority of Nigerians live on less than a dollar a day. (Now think of all the other over bloated salaries and allowances of Ministers and others) You may try this idea Your Excellency, the President. |
tylann:NIgeria will need to first clean up the mess in his political and economic institution. A critical scrutiny of that sector shows they weren't set up for the cares of people but for the few rich elites. |
tylann:The last statement was what i am talking about. Oil money comes very cheap without much stress like agriculture A Norway company recently announced what may be term as the biggest oil find in Africa in Ghana water .it has about 450-550 million barrels, with potential recoverable reserves of nearly one billion barrels. That is huge and can significantly boom the economy but in a very lazy way. Which i don't support. NIGERIA is a case study of what oil wealth can cause to any country that solely depend on it. |
tylann:That is very pathetic. Cocoa is the chief agricultural export for Ghana, gold and cocoa will compete for the cash cow in Ghana. The oil recently discover may soon take over. I actually don't really want it. GHANIANS living abroad remmit about 3.8 billion dollar back home last year making it the second highest for the citizens in diaspora in africa behind only Nigeria. |
tylann:hopefully, this will not last long |
tylann:i read it somewhere remittance from Kenyans living abroad beat tea exportation from kenya. |
tylann:The President has made it weak i suppose. I have more trust on the independent body than anything that has to do with Goverment departments in this area. |
tylann:corruption cannot be totally eliminated but kenya citizens should clamour for strong anti corruption bill. Do you have strong independent investigation agency in kenya? |
tylann:I think any country that can managed its sovereign wealth and can provide enough transparency and peace in the Goverment buisness will first get there. In all honesty Mauritius and Ghana are doing a very good job in that sector. But Mauritius growth is not as fast as it is expected. If resources can be well managed and internal conflict can be sustained, then congo has everything to be there. Kenya , south africa and Nigeria are all potential country. But this country must work on transparency. |
