He has the power to impose SoE. Just doesnt include suspension of the gov, dep and HoA.

I guess we need this to go to the supreme court so we can have a judicial precedent

If you want to help her, help her. No strings attached. That's called maturity. It shows you have moved on, have no hard feelings, and life goes on.

But you want to knack am again.? OK o. It shows you have not moved on, you are still attached to her, you cannot progress from her, and you want revenge...for what.

As the Klingon proverb says...bortaS bIr jablu'DI' reH QaQqu' nay'. or Revenge is a dish best served cold.

You guys don't know how infidelity harms familes and people, and even men. I know of two men whose father;s knacking around affected their life as kids. One of them has two boys now and up till today he has not taken his children to meet his father because of how he abandoned his mother in the name of knacking.

Yes. He is, in Ayede-Ajaawa area, Ogbomoso. They are close friends.
Both great men. He was my Dean of engineering in Ede. I also experienced 3 years under Oloyede though graduated under Ambali.

Still remember a "poem" imam quoted verbatim during a lecture ..

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don't,
If you like to win, but you think you can't
It is almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!

Classic example of show me who your friends are...

Very straightforward a man. And that’s how they are in their caucus of friends.

At least, I know two more of his friends like that who are very very straightforward. One is a rector at Ayede. He was a senior lecturer at Federal Polytechnic Ede before - Imam Taofeek. He is from Iwo but has always lived in Ede.

The other one just retired from Uni of Ilorin. He is from Ede too. He has worked in Concord Press in the past before.

Prof. Oloyede is an epitome of truthfulness. He will never compromise.

I pray we have much of people like him across all our government offices in Nigeria.
Imam is a Rector now? Never knew he was friend with Prof

CrimeRe: Gov Adeleke Directs Review Of Death Sentence On Teenager For Stealing Chicken by venabili: 12:02pm On Dec 18, 2024
Hmm.

Half story as usual. The boy robbed a house armed with a old fashioned wooden gun and a sword. But could only make away with hen and eggs.

The presence of weapons automatically places the crime under the Robbery and Firearms Act. The penalty prescribed under that act is death. Most of the penalties under that act are stiff. 21 years to life imprisonment and 14years for illegal possession of arms in public.

It is the Act that should be blamed not the judge who simply followed the letter of the law. Perhaps in the context of what was stolen it looks excessive but the presence of arms makes the material stolen irrelevant.

They should make those who steal with pen also subject to death penalties too sha
PoliticsRe: Tax Reform Bills: RMAFC Opposes Proposed VAT Sharing Formula by venabili: 7:34am On Dec 11, 2024
CodeTemplar:
The RMAFC man is obviously an ignoramus or tribal legend at best, parading as in intellectual. That it is called a consumption tax doesn't mean it is meant to serve the consumer or go to the consumer directly in anyway. It can still be collected at value addition location and reshared in Abuja, which is what Tinubu has done here. Let the ignoramus tell us who collects the VAT for good consumed outside Nigeria but within ECOWAS if the tax is for the consumer as they assume here.

It is a tax that should compensate whoever shoulders the burden of production or value-addition. It will be harsh to allow Lagos poach investors, create enabling environment, lost their land, culture, values to foreigners, suffer environmental degradation, provide supporting infrastructure like road, power, security and more, then you treat them equal with where the good are consumed because the textbook says VAT is a consumption (based) tax. It is collected from the consumer for consuming the value added unto the raw input but never meant for the consumer or her location.

It is like saying tolls collected in Kano for a road should go to Lagos or Rivers because the final destination of some of the passengers include Lagos and Rivers. The road is a service and is provided by Kano so why reward the destination of the passenger? What about passengers who end up in Ghana or Cameroon?

If we use this logic of the foolish and greedy RMAFC boss, states may be forced to collect it forcefully like that of a tolled road that serves interstate traffic and there will be chaos and rip offs because they will charge far higher than the flat rate FG is enforcing.

VAT is best managed centrally and redistributed to whoever is absorbing the impact of the value-addition within the value-addition chain accordingly. If nigeria must grow to become a hub where thing are manufactured and sold all over west Africa, this bill is good for rewarding value-adding states.
Good analogy. But the man did mention something cogent. An act of the national assembly can not override the constitution. The NAss needs to alter the constitution first to remove the powers of RMAFC.

Its amazing that everything is focused on VAT. What about personal income tax? This bill is removing the 20percent relief in the old law while also increasing the tax percentages. Thats col meaning people will pay more or those already paying will find ingenious ways to evade. They should make laws to increase tax compliance. Not overburden those already paying.

Pootle:
from all indications the bill is okay
Maybe on other fronts but they claim that 98 % of nigerians will pay lower income tax. Only 2percent will pay higher by up to 25% from the previous 19%
The top 2 starts from 1.7m($1000) per month. That shows that earning $1k makes you "rich".

1. How on earth was the relief allowance of 20¢% removed and replaced with N800k plus rent relief of N200k? How many taxpaying families live in such low rent apartment?
2. The poorest they claim to relief do not pay tax before. Only people in structured employment pay taxes largely. The agberos, market women, traders etc, some who make quite significant sums do not have tax payments or clearance. So you are simply excluding people who do not pay taxes before to make it formal while increasing the burden on those who already do.
3. The governors against the tax bills are concerned about sharing formula and not the burden or incidence of the tax itself. They simply want a way of getting a larger slice of the pie.

The reforms will get passed and as usual, nigerians will bear the brunt.
