But given the scarce economic resources, fixing power and our refineries(building a new one perhaps) would have ensured that our economy is not moribund.

Diesel and kerosene has madly gone up. Cost of food will soon join. The effect wont even be felt till around 2 to 3 months time when old inventory start running out. Hmmm. Nuclear weapons are built for deterrence purpose mainly. If you had to use them, they have failed in their main purpose.
The main reason why you have nuclear weapon is to make everyone else afraid of attacking you knowing fully well you have the capability to devastate their homeland. You can see the high level of reluctance from NATO( which are nuclear powers too) to get directly involved. Ask yourself, if it was Belarus that invaded Ukraine(without Russian support) what do you think NATO will be doing by now? So the nukes are serving their purpose.

Conversely, Russia will never step a foot on an inch of NATO land no matter how mad Putin becomes. He knows NATO will react with everything in their arsenal including nuclear weapons. Yes, Russia can destroy the majority of NATO nations, but thats hard comfort when NATO will also ensure that not a single inch of Russia is not smoldering nuclear waste.

I said China will play the US role in WW2. If Russia goes to war with Europe and America, chances are there will be lots of damages on both sides.
That war will weakened the dollar, Euro, and Ruble leaving the Yuan as a good prospect.

Oh, I see. That will only work out though if the war is a Conventional war(non nuclear) and China stays out of the war. I think we can both agree that a war between Russia and US will be nuclear given their policy on invasion of their homelands by conventional forces. If the war goes nuclear, a few Russian/US missiles will land in China who will have to retaliate. The reason for the attack is quite simple. US/NATO and Russia will be devastated after the war leaving China/India as the world dominant forces. That will be unacceptable to either Russia and US hence the gift of a few missiles to both countries.

War is basically bad business and a NATO/Russian war is bad business for the whole world.
