(Malawi and it's stocks fresh water fish only)

She's fascinated by the 'gate-man, maid, driver' life....but that too no be new ting for me..... it's common place for the ROA I guess....

I'm awaiting more fotos.....July seems too far oo

@Pidgin2. She's sorted with accommodation etc. But I'm sure she can't be hosted forever either.

@Afrikanbabe she's got some job talks lined up ....I'll tell her you're looking for a marketing position...

Christianity EtcRe: 5 Benefits Of Praying In Tongues by Veron265(f): 12:26am On Jun 19, 2017
I'm a born again 'catholic' and couldn't for the longest time grasp nor accept the gift of speaking in tongues...

Through positive debating, 'asking to learn, not to argue' sessions, my eyes and ears were opened by God's grace.

That said......

Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues 1 Corinthians 14

1. 1 Corinthians 14v 2
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed no-one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.

2. 1 Corinthians 14v 4
He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

3. 1 Corinthians 14v 5
I would like everyone of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the 'church' may be edified.

4 1 Corinthians 14v 14-15
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind.....

5 1 Corinthians 14v 18-19
I thank God I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19 But in church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.

6. 1 Corinthians 14v 22
Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy however is for believers, not for unbelievers.

7. 1 Corinthians 14v 23
So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?

That's all!

Update

It turns out my southy friend has departed last night's flight.
I'm curious and excited to hear how it will go, how she'll like it etc.

True to what you folks said, the SA-9ja based companies are willing to lend and ear.
LinkedIn has done wonders, plus her known contacts etc.

As for me....I await a few pieces to come together

@ Afrikanbabe
How is the job hunt going?
Is it not better you're on the ground in 9ja rather than here in mzansi?

I ask this because.....your story is a tad similar to mine....I recently relocated back to Mzansi....being here doing the search feels better. Although it's all web-based applications etc.
One interview thus far.....

Sure, I did all my schooling here and couldn't wait to head back and conquer MW...gave it a go and I think I'm better off here....

So I know this need to want to secure something prior to arrival.
But sometimes, one must take the leap of faith.
You know the turf, you have connects there....gather enough cash and tsamaya....we can go to SCOAN together if you like.....what will you have to lose right? Yes, no, maybe?

Wow, good you love egbusi, be careful with Suya though. It has pepper.

And I know you guys from the South don't like pepper.

I once cooked a soup meat with Nigeria grounded pepper, then my female neighbour SA ate some. She kept crying "I don't believe you can do this to me" after taking just one bit of peppered meat.

Since that day she never asked to eat again. cheesy

Hope you can eat pepper cos we Yoruba people love pepper and em Suya has pepper also. wink

Goodluck!
Hectic.....I didn't realise suya is super spicy/hot....well...thanks for the warning.
They say to be fore-warned is to be fore-armed....I'll have a banana and milk to cut out the heat.

#####

You story reminds me of an incident I had way back with a 9ja friend.
I'd decided I wanted to make a bean stew...got cooking....added the 'frozen pre-blended tomato' etc. Was quite pleased with my efforts and excited to dig in.
Gave the beans a taste....chai....it was 'chilly' fully peppered up .....I went on to add more tomato it the hopes of diluting the heat. No chance.....
Told my friend my beans were over-peppered and my efforts ....only to be told 'the tomatoes were blended together with chillies'....

I was so not impressed..... that's me putting it mildly....

So yes.....I know all about this peppe obsession.

Ahh My*** marrawian***. forgive the jokes. I know a lot of Malawians find it hard to pronounce their L's and R's.

Once you get to Naija or before, you can contact the church they will give you logistics on how to get there.

If you are going to be trying out a lot of dishes, you will need that Peptobismal or gaviscon, trust me
My bros....you're such an idiot lol haha
Abeg 'Malawi' is never 'broken' regardless of one's L and R syndrome status.
I'll have you know.....even the Chinese and Thai folk suffer from it......and our cousins in Zambia, our vernacular uses the L and R interchangeably at times.

That said, will try to contact them for the logistics.
Thing is, I've filled in the questionaire and followed up with the fone call.
I didn't like that I was told there's a long list and I should consult an 'agent'.

I'll makw my way up and see how it works out....I'm dedicating 14 days to it.

Gaviscon will be packed....that's a familiar brand.

You seem very conversant with Sadc and it's ways....noice

It's good visiting and knowing your other neighbors, unlike staying lazy in your province without knowing how other Africa nation looks like.

Lagos is a nice city, beautiful and loving people. Enough recreational center to watch out for.

Have you ever taken Egbusi Soup? Reminds me of a time ago I first took my Xhosa female friend to an African kitchen in Capetown, she took two plates of egbusi. Try it when you come wink

Enjoy your stay hun!
I hear you about exploring, I have enough stamps on y passport but haven't ventured into West African territory yet.
Nigeria will be my first (tempted to visit Ghana whilst I'm at it, no visa but cash and time limitations).

I love, love Egusi soup.....it's 10/10, I could eat it everyday....with lots of ponmo in it.
Looking forward to trying it on home turf, since the fine skimp on palm oil and bitter leaf, they use spinach imagine lol ha ha...
I want to try the famous Suya etc.

I have a to-eat list....yes, I'm a proud foodie

Thanks for the best wishes.

There is no problem if you are coming to Scoan, most Saffers I meet at the airport usually tell me they are coming from SCOAN so no biggy, Travelling from the island to SCOAN is a bit far in Lagos traffice terms but I am guessing you have made plans concerning that and if you havent you should.

You will enjoy the cuisine no doubt but carry a bottle of peptobismal cause the spices are strong and not everyone can take them. I have had many a SA food and trust me you may need it.

Music and nightlife you will definitely enjoy.
I had to Google what 'pepto bismal' is.....will come prepped, thanks for the heads up. I like to believe my stomach is made of steel....although the pepe dey too much at times...
I honestly haven't looked into the logistics of getting to Scoan...will have to venture in independently of them, been told there's a long list etc.
2 weeks leaves ample time to get what I need.
Will check my Google maps and see the specifics etc....

P.s. I merely reside in SA, I am Malawian. My friend is thus the southy not me.

My spiritual quest involves SCOAN....I had opted to keep it to myself since 'we' all have our opinions about TB Joshua.

Hey Veron,

I am glad you found some good points from the thread. That was the whole point. To share information with one another and to inspire.
Tell me more about this venture with you and your friend... Exciting right? Did you guys get jobs? What's the story?

We surely don't have to stop on account of those who are using this thread to spread negative vibes and talk about things not related to the topic. I ask myself, why don't these folks start their own topics, or better yet, email each other, WhatsApp even. Anyway, if we can get back to direction, more sharing, then let's continuuue.

Well, I'm largely coming in on a spiritual quest.....a demain to fulfil a 10 year dream.
Experience the Lagos vibe, cuisine etc. I'm excited about it, it's been long overdue.

My friend is banking on her aquaintances hooking her up etc. So no Job yet.

What has been your experience with the visa process etc.

My dear Veron265, she is not fully aware of the pros and cons, trust us Nigerians on that, someone who has not visited or lived in Nigeria for a while will surely have a romanticized view of the city. Lagos can be exciting if you are visiting for a shore time and have a host to show you around, however it is a fast city very much like Johannesburg and if you end up in the wrong area, not very good for you.

Visit first and if you "feel" the city like Africanbabe you can make an informed decision. I usually suggest when SA's come to lagos my recommendations if they don't have a host is "four points" hotel on the island, very nice place and location to experience lagos.

It is close to everything on the island and the night life around the area is great for tourists. Its also a safer area to hang out until the late hours of the night.

Ps, I know they usually give SA's a 3 month visa reciprocal to SA visas so I don't know how your friend is planning to stay longer than her visa expiration date. Lagos is not Johannesburg were one can blend into Yeoville or hillbrow or sunnyside in pretoria. You will stick out like a sore thumb
I've screenshot your input and will pass it on to her.
You raise very good points.
Thank you very much.

P.s.
You seem to know a lot about the Visa proc etc.
We're still sorting that out.
Folks are claiming we need an 'agent' in order to secure one etc.

@ Afrikanbabe
How dis you go about it the first time.
Was it as tedious as they are making it out to be?

I am very keen on getting as much info on Ireland. There's a Dublin thread here and it's proven to be very be informative. (Search nairaland)

In all honesty, I want to dedicate 1yr to raising funds for my Masters in the UK 2016, I'll be forced to defer to next year.

Am lucky enough to go to Ireland without a Visa for a period of 3 months, country privileges :-)
I would then wish to get a permit to allow me to stay longer for work purposes, legal jobs are what earn real money!

I think paying tuition to pose as a student is ridiculous: I don't have that sort of money to waste (cheap schools are being shut down).

Is there anyone who can give me more info as to how to stay longer once my 3 month is up?
Will appreciate your input and advice.

Gosh, this thread has taken up most of my morning...I'd fire me if I were my boss #smh

All in all, this has been very interesting to read about, knowledge is power.

I consider myself spiritual, a believer and aware there are forces not seen by the regular jack and jill;
one has to be on a certain spiritual level to do so. The gift of discernment allows for one to learn more about this; not everyone has this gift, one would have to ask God for the Holy Spirit to impart this Gift!

I have not seen mermaids, nor have I been aware of 'mami waters',
I have though, heard of the marine world in charismatic Christianity. I also know of Muslims who refuse to be around natural bodies of water around dusk etc.
Call it what you like, but these entities exist, rather than denying them...open your mind to explore and gain some knowledge.
Just my thoughts

Before Christianity, Africa had it's own deities and still has, no need to believe in them, but best believe they exist.
