Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said he was committed to the fulfilment of his electoral promises to Nigerians. He however admitted that the task is not an easy one. Buhari spoke at the Graduation Ceremony of Course 24 of the National Defence College, Abuja where he was the Special Guest of Honour. He said though it was not easy to make good the electoral promises, he and members of his team were trusting in God that they would deliver through hard work and sound vision. He said, “Let me assure you all that this administration is committed to bequeathing to this nation, a new orientation in leadership that will be service-driven and committed to the realisation of its promises to the electorates. “We are however not under any illusions that this task is an easy one. “But we have put our trust in God knowing that with hard work and sound vision, we will triumph.” Buhari expressed delight that in the last one year, through the hard work, dedication and sacrifices made by members of the nation’s armed forces and security services, the nation had been able to degrade the capacity of Boko Haram insurgents to wreck havoc. On the incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers, the President said his administration would not condone any act of criminality. He said he had therefore directed security agencies to deal decisively with the situation. “On the matter of herdsmen/farmers clashes, I wish to state that this administration will not tolerate or condone acts of banditry and criminality, under any guise. “As such, our security agencies have been mandated to deal with such acts decisively. ” Let me state that this administration has been working assiduously in conjunction with our local and international partners, to rebuild damaged communities in North East part of our country. “Similarly, we are committed to tackling the issues of underdevelopment and neglect in the Niger Delta area. “This is a priority we have set before us and we intend to make appreciable gains in correcting the ills of the past in the Niger Delta by assuaging inherent grievances,” he said. For the Nigerian graduating participants, Buhari said he expected that they would all have made the most of their time on the course and be ready to join the ongoing process to change Nigeria for the better. He said Nigeria had made tremendous progress in the last one year towards taking her rightful position in the comity of nations. The President promised to continue to build on the progress in the coming years so as to ensure that Nigeria maintains the heights it had achieved, adding that it is a task that all Nigerians must resolve to do. He said, “International confidence in our country and its future is beginning to return, because of how we are slowly finding ways to solve our problems. “The nation is beginning to have faith in the ability of our society’s institutional capacity to tackle our problems. But we must work doubly hard to restore our nation to higher glory. “The Nigerian Armed Forces have proven to be equal to the task of maintaining our internal and external security.” The President recalled that at the inception of his administration, he outlined certain core areas of our national life that require immediate intervention, which include to secure the country, improve the economy and fight corruption. He said corruption and poverty remained the country’s main problems. He said billions of naira have been recovered from indicted companies and individuals, adding that through the implementation and enforcement of the Treasury Single Account, the nation had also saved more money. Buhari said Nigeria needs a philosophy of transparency and accountability in governance to tap the nation’s vast opportunities. “The other core areas that we need to improve are the rule of law and moral standards in government and in society in order to provide a good foundation for good governance so that our gains are not dissipated by corruption. “Good governance must be based on a sound moral foundation, a philosophy of transparency, accountability and an ethic of effective implementation. “Already, our unrelenting fight against criminality and corruption in governance is a clear testament that we intend to address these problems,” he said. http://punchng.com/fulfillment-electoral-promises-not-easy-buhari-admits/

Someone don wake up. When Jonathan wanted to save the country form this turmoil in 2012, some elements made sure he didn't do it. Let no dullard come here to tell me He wasn't allowed because he was corrupt. As at 2012 Jonathan was still well revered until some mumuish person brought *change with their social media noise makers* |
She is really progressing. But I really don't know how this is news |
Good afternoon fellow Nairalanders. Jonathan Olukaiyeja has been found. He wasn't missing in the real sense as he actually went to pray at a secluded area and didn't think it necessary to inform any member of His family. I am a friend of the Family and spoke with His immediate elder sister some minutes ago when I saw this post. She confirmed he was back home. So, please help spread this like you did with the 1st post. Thanks |
aforosco:He has been found and he is very fine. Please help spread it too |

It is really pathetic and very unfortunate that things like this will be happening in Nigeria. APC even wants to douse the matter by inviting Jibrin. Also, telling him to stop talking Nigeria really got a long way to go. https://twitter.com/hashtag/EFCCArrestCrookJibrinNOW?src=tren

Nigeria Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has set his Twitter account to private after Nigerians lashed out at him over a shocking statement he made about the U23 team stranded in Atlanta, US. Solomon Dalung told newsmen when he was asked to speak about Nigeria's U-23 football team stranded in the US after they refused to board a plane they said was too small to carry them to Rio, Brazil for the Olympics: "Our U-23 team suffering in the United States of Nigeria, What are there for? Because they are U-23 and they went to US and they are having problems, does that become our business? " When Nigerians called Solomon a shame and barraged him with more reactions, he set his Twitter account to private. Watch the video below along with photos of our footballers boarding the new plane provided for them. <iframe width="520" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7n_pPhJvvf8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n_pPhJvvf8 http://www.lailasblog.com/2016/08/solomon-dalung-usa-united-states-nigeria.html

Mr. Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, the acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), on Tuesday, almost caused a shootout between police officers in his convoy and security men at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters in Abuja, SaharaReporters was authoritatively informed. Idris, who seems to consider paying courtesy visits his sole job description, arrived on a visit to the CBN headquarters at about 5:45pm. But rather than have his convoy drive through the visitors’ gate via Tafawa Balewa Way, Idris and his entourage, in a breach of security protocol, forced their way into the CBN Headquarters through the staff gate. Sources informed SaharaReporters that the display of impunity by the police boss created a near-violent clash between his entourage and the CBN security apparatus, comprising Directorate of State Security operatives, soldiers as well as private security personnel. Gun-wielding officers on both sides cocked their weapons and got ready to shoot. It took the intervention of the CBN’s Director Security Services and top officials of the apex bank to restore calm. Since resuming to the office a month ago, Mr. Idrsi has spent most of his time paying or receiving courtesy visits to and from embassies, traditional rulers, and other security agencies in Abuja. http://saharareporters.com/2016/08/03/how-acting-igp-idris-almost-caused-bloodbath-central-bank-nigeria-headquarters
