plse i need advice, my story goes like this, in 2013 i applied to go do my Msc in the US but was denied. In my application then, i didn't indicate that my dad was a PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN US. due to the fact that 2yrs prior to 2013 he divorced my mum and remarried in the states.(marriage wasn't for any gain cos he was already a PR by then) so we had a bad relationship. but now we have reconciled and he is inviting me to come visit him, planning going in December cos my company closed for the year then.
my question is that would it affect me now that i didn't indicate that my dad was a us citizen back then and how would i know if i have been banned?

NB: my dad been in the states since 1993, owned a company there and he basically wants to start easing me lil by lil into the working of his biz, i do not plan staying there now permanently beyond by visit visa if i am granted but definitely would work towards that in the later future moving there permanently.
There is clearly a section in the application form that asks if you have any family member in the US, and to give details of same...
For you to have applied for a visa without stating that your father is a permanent resident in the UK, it means that you must have deliberately filled the application form in deception.
Well, you may not have been banned yet, but you have to hold on to the lie because, you could get banned if they ever know that you lied in previous application.

Thank you for wise answers. Please if i want to travel to the uk by june 20th. when is the right month to apply for uk visa.
You can actually start it now, if successful, the visa will have validaty period that covers the dates that you intend to make the trip.

i was a victim of 10yrs banned nt 2 enter uk since 2008 and i stil hve more 2 years 2 finished my ban.pls can i stil apply again because i hate agents nw.
You can apply after the 10 years has elapsed. It will help if you're certain (before making the application) that you fulfill all requirements and that your circumstances are convincing to the Visa Officer otherwise, you would be seen as a desperate applicant who can not be trusted to abide by the terms of the visa.

Please i have a question for financial document for uk visa application. Please house is 200k monthly salary and bank balance of 850k ok for uk tourist visa application@?
The major concern of visa officers is the likelihood of a visitor overstaying his visa and working illegally. But a person who earns N200.000 monthly, poses a very low risk of breaching his visa conditions.
If there are no other factors that stand against the application, I think you'd be fine.

Actually I read it very well but I don't understand cos the embassy requires a copy of flight itinerary. What i did was to like book the return flight with Turkish airline and chose the option to pay later but was given 72 hrs to pay. And be that it may take the embassy like a week to make a decision, if I use this itinerary, I hope the embassy won't confirm from the airline before issuing the visa.
I explained in the post that Itinerary doesn't necessarily mean flight ticket, and that, it means travel plans which are, the preparations that you have put in place: such could be site seeing or tour guide arrangements, or onward flight tickets if applying for a transit or stopover visa

@vicjustice and others
Is it possible to use a flight reservation that is valid for 72hrs to apply for a schengen tourist visa at the German embassy?
I suspect you did not even read my original post before asking this question otherwise you would have seen that it was addressed on the front page of this thread.
Well, for clarity, you do not need a flight reservation before applying for a visa tourist visa.

I agree, as I have received visas whilst being barely 3 months at a new job. On the other hand, Vicjustice may be implying you have better chances if you've held your job for 1 year or more - sense of stability, and of course, the presentation of your income tax cert (if you can't give a good reason why you haven't one).
Good call.

I don't agree with you on this because the ECO's have a decision guide (appendix V: UK immigration rules for visitors and general grounds for refusal document) available on the UK government immigration website where this clause is not mentioned. In fact people without jobs/tax info do apply for entry clearance and some are found eligible
Not every reason for visa refusal is on the written "decision guide", in fact, the vast reasons are based on the ECO's own judgements.
Now, applying for a tourist visa with a new job that hasn't proven its sustainability is a major factor for refusal "under normal circumstances", however, the ECO has the power to use his/her own initiative to decide whether the person is deemed deserving a visa or not.

6 weeks validity or 6 weeks maximum stay? Check the visa again
I suppose the visa is valid for 6 months but with 6 weeks the duration of stay.
Check the visa very well and verify what it says...

@Vicjustice your answer number 3. What rules are you quoting here ? Never come across any rule that states that an applicant must spend one year at their place of employment
Under normal circumstances, you can not get a tourist visa if you are less than one year in an employment for these two reasons:
(1) The employment is not yet sustained because in labour law, you have to be at least 1 year in a job in order to be fully protected against abrupt termination of employment.
(2) The visa officer needs (at least) a year's tax clearance in order to evaluate the job's worth.

Please family I have some questions I would love cleared.
First of all, I have had 3 jobs in the last 6 months, having just finished nysc I worked a locum at my father's business before getting a job with a reputable firm. I want to apply for a visa for an exam i have slated for may 10 and would like to spend 2 weeks. My questions is as follows
1) do. I need to put in payslips from my 3 jobs as my account shows income from the three sources, to verify the income in my 6 months bank statement?
2) I was paid in cash from my father's business but could get a pay certificate to that effect, and I also still help with administrative duties
3) I started my current job late December and I'm planning to apply for visa in 1st week of March
All this jobs are legit and with verifiable documents, so id appreciate how to input this in my application.
4) I'm unmarried but I have a landed property and shares, is this sufficient ties to my country?
Thank you very much in anticipation of your reply. @justwise @vicjustice
1) You would be considered ineligible for a visa as your employment history does not conform to the requirement.
2) Cash payment is unacceptable unless in certain limited circumstances.
3) A job that is less than 1 year old does not meet the requirement as its sustainability is not yet verifiable.
4) Land property that stands in isolation is not a tie.

Thanks for your unending contribution. I must commend you all, you are doing a great job here. Please I need answers to these questions

My husband is on scholarship with all expense and upkeep paid. he stays in a duplex that is occupied by 4 persons(mostly students like him) in the house including the landlady. He is inviting me but then the last occupant of the room he took, registered the phone line in his name, and the other utility bills are registered in the name of the land lady

1. How can we proof that he is one of the occupants of the house?

Then, I just finished my masters (will convocate in April) and just resumed work in January(in a school) with not too much account balance though my husband intend to sponsor me with 400k from his salary account here in Nigeria for a-2wk school vacation. My husband is a lecturer in one of the Federal University in Nigeria and has signed bond with the university and the scholarship board to return immediately after his studies in September.

2. Is this financial obligation and my tie (job and convocation) to my country solid enough to convince the consular officer?

Then where I work, my employer does'nt give confirmation letters to staff, when u are in then u are in.

3. Is it still neccesary to support my documents with the letter?

4. Do I need to submit my results and confirmation for my just concluded masters study just to justify my recent employment status?

Please, I need you all to analyse my questions. Thanks in anticipation.
FrontPageLawyer has done justice to your question, the only point that i like to add is to question number 1 regarding proof of residence.
Tenancy agreement alone is not enough evidence that your husband resides in the said property: he needs a supporting utility bill to prove this.

Please All, I intend visiting the States to see my sister and her family. Visa secured already. On my ds160, I stated that I will be staying in her apartment and the address was included. Going forward after the visa issuance and the desire to have some privacy cos I do lots of reports writing and online submissions at my place of work, I intend staying in a hotel in the same town as against my sister's apartment as stated earlier. My question; is it possible that this is seen as a discrepancy at the POE? Kindly advise.
Thanks.
You should be fine provided the booking is legit and valid.

A friend of mine was denied visa when applying for immigrant visa to US due to her spouse misrepresentation which she was given alien smuggling. Will it affect her now that she wants to apply for canadian or australian visa with her current spouse as she divorced her former spouse some years.

Thanks.
There is a very high chance that she has been banned from entering the US for life. Although, the ban does not apply to Canada, but surely it affects her chance to get a visa for Canada, but she may be fine if she has compelling evidence to show that her circumstances has changed for better.

Vicjustice please I went for interview for a tourist visa on September last year for the 1st time without invite and I have no travel experience. this is the conversation.

vo: good morning sir

vo: where are you going in the us
Me: Newyork
vo: what for?
me: vacation
vo: where do you work?
me: I told him
vo: what's your position in your company ?
me: manager
vo: what do your company do?
me: importation of electronics and cars
Vo: how much do you earn?
me: I told him
vo: are you married?
me: no
vo: do you have a family here?
me: yes

after typing somethings he handed me a green paper and said sorry you're not eligible.
I think I was denied cos of my marital status, every single dude that went before me were denied.
I have a letter of invitation from my cousin in USA for his graduation in may, if I apply now and cos I'm still not yet married, what are my chances? does the graduation invite make any difference? thanks.
Not necessarily because you are unmarried, there are other factors that are taken into consideration: for example, your your age falls into high immigration risk category yet, your salary may not be that impressive, or the VO does not trust your intention, or you have not been in your current job long enough to convince the VO that your employment is permanent

@VICJUSTICE AND OTHER MEMBERS. I NEED YOUR URGENT ASSISTANCE. MY BROTHER INLAW IS INVITING ME FOR A VISIT IN USA FOR A MONTH HOLIDAY. HE IS A CITIZEN AND HE PROMISED TO SEND INVITATION LETTER,PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP AND HIS BANK STATEMENT. I MYSELF I DEAL IN TRADING. I BUY GOODS HERE IN NIGERIA AND SEND TO GHANA AND SELL. BUT CURRENTLY I DO NOT HAVE REGISTER BUSINESS DOCUMENT HERE. BUT MY PASSPORT HAS MULTIPLE BENIN,TOGO,GHANA STAMP,INDICATING I ALWAYS TRAVEL. NOW AS A RESULT OF NATURE OF MY BUSINESS,MY BANK STATEMENT IS NOT GOOD,BECAUSE I ALWAYS USE LOCAL BUREAU TO CHANGE MONEY AND USE IT TO BUY ANOTHER GOODS IN NIGERIA AND SEND BACK TO GHANA. AS IT STAND NOW,MY BROTHER INLAW WILL TAKE CARE OF ME WITH ACCOMMODATION OVER THERE. BUT I WILL SPONSOR MY TICKETS BOTH RETURN AND OTHER VISA PROCESS FEE. MY QUESTION NOW, DO I HAVE A CHANCE IN OBTAINING VISITING VISA TO US IF I BOOK APPOINTMENT.? IF NO, WHAT CAN I DO NOW TO HELP ME SECURE VISA.? IM MARRIED WITH THREE KIDS. ONLY TRADITIONAL WEDDING,WHICH I HAVE THE PICTURES AS A PROOF. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON. THANK YOU.
With the manner of business that you do, and a bank statement such as you explained, it will be a miracle if you get a visa.
But I thought your questions are answered in the opening post: please, refer to it.
As for your marriage , it should be made official with official certificate before it would be recognized by any embassy.

You mean; "Çabuk-Çabuk" lol... I loved your synopsis though.
It reminds me of a time I was told there was a job vacancy which was urgent and would need my skills, mhaaaan I was soooo thrilled... I wore my best tux, shoes and sprayed my retro V.I Givenchy I had been saving for special days, took my CV and copies of my diplomas and put em in an envelope, while I practiced by best Turkish lines behind a mirror (using an Istanbul accent) looooool! Only for me to arrive the place and behold... I saw a construction site, ol boy! They were waiting for me to remove my tux and start lifting cement bags.
The Turkish guy shouted at me in Turkish "You think this is a beauty pageantry! Take those things off and flex some muscles" amanakoim!.... Lol!
very funny but I must say, those Çabuk-Çabuk jobs are very crazy, most assuredly you would be slave driven for between 30-50TL a day.
Your story indeed suggest a true scenario in Turkey.

Not only have i been to Turkey, i have also lived there.
Menial job that does not require much skill and lacking prestige is common, and Turkish employers are very happy use you in their "shabu-shabu works.
Turkey is a very industrialized nation, in fact, it's more industrialized than 80% of the countries in the EU, so i don't think you'd have much of a problem finding a "shabu-shabu" (Turkish word for Quick-Quick) job in a Turkish factory; but the problem is the wages, you would be paid less than 1000 Turkish New Liras (300 Euros) a month

Travelled to Dubai last year and i was asked to step aside. Passport was scanned and another colleague was asked to come and also look at my passport. My wife was not interrogated this way.
My crime? Having a baby face. In my 30's but look early 20's and I'm sure holding a green passport didn't help either. After seeing that the passport was genuine, i was apologized to and asked to have fun. It's an issue to look younger than you are at POE.
The issue is not because you look younger, but rather because, many Nigerians have proven their suspicions right before.

Hello people,
Pls help a sister out.
My middle name was misspelled as Omowunmi in my passport, instead of Omowumi which appears in all my credentials. I want to apply for US student visa. Will the N added to my name in the passport cause visa denial? And will an affidavit be enough if any issue arise? Change of name of passport takes long, it is stressful and also very expensive.
Such an oversight can be overlooked. If the error bothers you, then, point it out as additional information.

I have everything in place ..except for the hotel reservation which i will get soon .. and i am spending just 5days in SA according to my introduction letter

Please House help
This is how it works; An acceptable bank statement must have up to six months transaction records demonstrating your income (from verifiable sources) and expenditures, and it must have good enough fund to sustain your trip and intentions, and also; it must have enough balance to keep you going after the trip

You can do without Pay-Slip if your Bank account statement shows evidence of earnings.
But if it is cash-in-hand method of payment, then you are automatically disqualified from visa approval.

Thank you for the response.
These questions are actually not what anyone has answers to, you can not ask someone to chose (between Spain and France) for you.
Both countries are Schengen members, and the one that you should chose is the one that will be your chief destination.

I understand he (uncle) is not considered as direct dependant to him. It is a standard with most advance countries. However, an invitation is still open. In this case a circumstantial one. What do I mean (senior citizen). Yes may not have the money but the nephew takes care of his leaving expenses.

Visa can be given on that. Yes normal invitation requires the invited to meet tourist requirements, burdens normally rest on the invited but it all comes down to case by case as it is applied.

A teenager eg a cousin can be invited ( requirements not met) as a tourist, but visa issued base on the circumstance of the invitation.

Good Luck.
Good analysis, so, what then is the advantage of the invitation if the onus is still on him to meet the requirements?

Dear Vicjustice,

A friend wish to invite his uncle from Nigeria to Ireland for 8 weeks visit. Its over 20 years he saw him last. The uncle is around age 70 and he recently returned from the US on a visit to his children in the US for 5 months. In addition, the uncle has retired from work few years ago in Nigeria so he's not working at the moment, his children in the US sends money to him regularly for upkeep. Also the uncle has two children in Nigeria that is looking after him though they're not buoyant enough financially like the two children in US. My friend in Ireland want to invite him for 8 weeks. My friend is working full time.

I would like to know what else does he need to send to his uncle apart from the documents listed below:

(1) Copy of my friend's Irish Passport bio-data page ( Photocopy )

(2) Proof of address ( Utility bill ) Original

(3) Copy of Tenancy agreement for house rent ( proof of accommodation ) Photocopy

(4) Pay slips ( Original )

(5) Invitation letter ( inviting his uncle for 8 weeks stating he's sponsoring the trip)

(6) His uncle's savings account statement ( though good transaction but very low balance ) nothing like vast money lodgement. ( Original )

(7) My friend's bank statement as the sponsor ( good balance ) Original

( 8 ) Statement of Purpose why the uncle is being sponsored and how his sponsor will benefit from the trip

Please what else does he need to send to his uncle?

Thank you. Merry Christmas in advance! cheesy
Inviting a dependant "uncle" to visit you abroad has always been a tough thing. This is because, an uncle does not qualify for family visit visa: therefore, unlike the case with his visit to his own children in the US where he was allowed to be sponsored, he is not eligible for sponsorship in this instance: therefore, he needs to personally fulfil the requirements for a tourist visa. Happy Christmas to you too.

Your company can not sponsor your trip if the purpose of the trip is of no benefit to the company.
I understand that you said your husband doesn't have a saving account, but does he have current account?
