Please, what's your take on the use of baby walkers?

My husband wants us to get one for my baby that is almost 5 months old. I read online that it should be used from when baby is 6 months old but he's not ready to hear. I also read on babycentre.co.uk that it is not good for babies at all, that it interferes with their development. She disturbs a lot and he feels getting a baby walker will make her busy and disturb less.

Anyone with experience on it's use should say something please. Thanks.

well, I'd say d earlier d better provided ur baby has very good neck control. a friend started her twin boys on walker at 4 mnths, they r both over a year old n walked at 1yr. I started my son at 7 mnths because I wanted to follow due process & it was 'war' as he refused stayin in & wud cry non-stop til he's brought out..I guess dis was because he'd already started crawling at d time n didn't want any form of restrictions. anyways, d walker wasn't used by him & he walked at 10mnths.
I'd say- forgo d walker if u have d time n patience to always carry ur baby or start early walker use if u want to be able to do ur work in peace as time goes on. but don't leave ur baby in d walker all day.

it depends on how ripe d cervix is (effaced) & dilation at d time of induction. mine was 21hrs. I went in 40% effaced, not dilated(cervix stil closed) on Saturday @ 1pm & delivered past 10am on Sunday. active labour was 5hrs.

*hugs* no need to b afraid. I had an induction n it was interesting- I ate, strolled round d hospital, was gistin wt my peeps until d real pain started- actual labour was about 5 hrs. just relax.. its well. try long walks, ur baby may even com bfor den

Potty training yea! Its too early o. I've not started with my lo but I will start next week.

I need to start potty training too o.. noticed he now squats when he wants to poo & its a big struggle wearing him diapers these days.. biko sabi mamas..how una potty train o??

Pls my mamas, I don come again. I rily hate dis rash or whateva it is on my 3wks+ son. Some pple call it 'imibe' but don't know d english name for it. It starts like a tiny pimple kinda den I guess it bursts and spreads to anoda area becos befor I know it anoda one has appeared. It den flattens ouy and then peels off. I initially tot it was diaper rash cos it started from his private area but now its all over his neck. Pls any1 wit similar experience cos pple say its vry common wit babies & what can se to make it to away? Thanks.

i think d yoruba name is alefo while dermatologists say it's molluscum contagiosum..
dilute ncp in water(equal parts) & use to clean d rash after pricking it open then use mupirocin cream to rub it regularly. u can also use calamine lotion for the itch. keep at it, it will b gone within a month.

eyah.. just seeing this. don't know if it's too late but here's how I prepare mine:
ingredients: beans, fresh pepper (rodo), locust bean (Iru), palm oil, salt, seasoning, pomo, beef, dry fish, assorted meat, onions.
method: wash beans like u would for moi moi or akara, put d beans in a pressure pot & add fresh pepper, onions & iru, put water to cover to a certain extent & leave to cook for about 15mins or until d pot starts whistling for a while. Meanwhile, u would av cooked ur beef properly wt seasoning. remove d beans d from d pressure pot and pour into d blender and blend to a smooth paste. pour d beans paste into a pot, add palm oil, dry fish, pomo, assorted meat (optional), meat stock, remainin iru (if u like seein some whole) and seasoning then bring to a boil till all d other ingredients are well cooked. add d beef, leave for a few mins then it's ready!

u can break a little portion of bitter kola & suck on it like sweet or chew on ice chips

I ran to d hospital Dis afternoon when his temp increased again oo. nd was told dat he had throat infection nd it was making him drool.
They had to give him injection to reduce his temp cos it was sooo high.I thank God His much better now.

OMG! what was his temp? thank God he's fine. pls wash his hands frequently and keep his environment clean.

Definitely! it's a matter of choice. The beauty of having them is to make ur wedding more colourful.
for my wedding, we had a best man, best lady, little bride, ring bearer and 2 confetti girls.

Abeg my son poo only once a day or at most twice in a day. Is this normal as all other mamas said their own poo almost after each meal. He is 7weeks old. Thanks

he's a big boy now, may not be pooping after every feed again so its normal as long as he's not constipated or showing signs of discomfort. system differs. mine too dint do excessive pooping after d initial few wks several-times-a-day poop.

well kid is very good. for fever, tepid sponge (wet towel) the whole body.

Pls be careful with the cold bath. Don't over do it.

how? what are the consequences? because sometimes when the weather is really hot (& my son sweats a lot), I give him a shower and he really seems to enjoy it. when he poops now sef, I use cold water with soap to clean him up. only use wipes when we go out.

ow do u wash ur child's bottle? wat do u use?

I use normal liquid soap (mama lemon or morning fresh), I usually dilute mine a little wt water bfor puttin in d bottle den use a long brush to wash thoroughly, rinse well den I put in d sterilising unit. if ders no electricity, I put d bottle in 'boiling hot water' n cover for about 5 mins or use Milton liquid wt cold water

If u r not doin exclusive dear then u can give water. I ll advice u give oh cos my son was exclusively breast fed and now he hates water with passion. Though I hear some exclusively breast fed babies do take water well.

Gripe water is very good for d tummy and navel. I gave my baby for 2 months I think.

Lol @paracetamol. Pls do not give paracetamol except ur baby is runnin temperature oh. After all d many carrying, ur MIL should press d baby's body well while bathing ur baby. U can also give baby massage. Baby massage is super good and that enables mother and child time

dat baby massage with slightly hot water & after bath works wonders.

I breastfed exclusively n my son drinks water well o.. continue givin him, wt time he'll get used to it

pls don't give ur baby bitter cola. u can give her little water since u r nt on exclusive so dat she doesn't get constipated.

y gripe water? is she havin tummy ache?? I didn't use it for my son so wont advice u to. what I did was to rub his tummy in a circular motion and giv hot water press on his abdomen after d navel had completely healed.

& pls n pls, paracetamol is a no-no. that reason ur MIL gave is nt valid. my son is almost a yr old & I can count d number of times av given him pcm. use it only wen ur child has a fever to bring temperature down bfor goin to d hosp.

always read d label of anything bfor givin ur child as we are responsible for them. na u carry am for belle o..
even when I c d paediatrician, I read d leaflet of every drug given n use my discretion. like sometime ago, he had a cold n I was given actifed, after readin, I saw dt it shouldn't be given to kids below 2yrs except on docs advise n lookin at my son, I saw d cold wasn't severe so I passed. Even common vitamin C, I hardly give- I prefer to squeeze out fresh orange juice for him.

so my dear, as mothers, we work with our instinct. regardin ur MIL, be diplomatic with her or call ur doctor n arrange meeting then go wt her and mention all dese things so u can av points..
like bfor my son was circumcised, my mom & MIL were already givin me lecture on how we'll manage it n wot we'll do.. I simply made sure both of dem wer wt me wen I was asking d docs questions. when we got home, I decided to bath n dress him myself. They were both cross sayin it wont heal wtout me applying anything bt my husband was supportin me so I was good. after 5 days, d plastic fell off & dey marvelled- healed perfectly! may God give u wisdom, it is well
