InesQor deserves a round of applause.

Ihe, reading through this thread, I've come to understand that you feel women can do something to prevent themeselves from being ra.ped?

Well, what do you think could have been done by an Indian lady who while standing with a male friend by the roadside waved down a taxi and upon entering got severly r.ap.ed she died the next two days?

With reference to your post, would you say she could have eluded these rapists if she had been able to fufil this:
ihedinobi2:
she has to learn to know how and when to radiate that allure or else the wrong man will exploit it. And then her honor would be spoiled. She doesn't come into the world prepackaged with that kind of knowledge. Her natural instincts in this matter are only a desire to be appealing and desirable and a desire to be respected as to her body.

It just doesn't add up.

The best solution you should have proffered here is for women to adopt Electra's style in the movie, Meet The Spartans. They should instead of wearing panties wear metal guards with metal locks.

The above soluTion can not win over a realistic mind.

The indian lady I mentioned was properly dressed in her sari and was returning from work. You should knoiw that she must have been very tired and was not in any way intending to radiate any form of allure.

I understand what you mean and I tell you this, trying to make sense from your point of view is quite a futile effort. The ra.p.ed is always the victim and since the ra.p.ist has got a perverted mind he or she remains the culprit and the one the whole blame should be apportioned.

Would you tell a girl of 6 who was ra.ped to find a way not to radiate allure when she barely knows what allure is? You shouldn't blame her or tell her how it was the fault of her allure radiation but bang the head of the f.U̶̲̥̅̊.c.king pervert against the egde of a pavement.

What of banks that get robbed? What of Nairaland that got hacked? What of persons killed by stray bullets? Or those killed in impromptu street fights? And other many what of's....

Yes, measures should be taken to prevent oneself from known and unknown danger but that only solves 1% of the problem. The solution is in fixing the 99%; pervese hearts.....

Quit thinking about the 1%, think about eliminating the 99%.

I might reply late if I'm quoted.
Romance / Re: What Is Wrong In Having Sex Before Marriage? by vickyO(f): 6:31pm On Jul 14, 2014
Sex before marriage will in most cases not determine your sexual compatibility.

Taste change, what excited you yesterday mayn't be the same today. Save yourself the emotional troubles.

What if after sleeping with 100 men, you then find the one man you're sexually compatible with? What then remains of your emotions? Then you're no different from a wh.or.e.

It might not happen that way, it's just an illustration.

But always remember this saying -------

Better safe than sorry.

ihedinobi2:

Sis, there is one thing that is easy to mix up here. It is that the victim's culpability lessens the perpetrator's responsibility somehow. And I admit that it can be hard to maintain a separation of the two (my comments thus far will evince my own difficulty in doing so).

But this is true: the fact that a person does something that makes it more likely that someone else should harm them in some way will never take away or even reduce the fact that the "someone else" has a responsibility not to harm them no matter what the provocation.

This thread is actually not driving at lessening the filthiness and wickedness of räpe. It is aimed at sensitizing potential victims to their God-given responsibility to maintain their security. A woman who is careless about her allure will not stand blameless before God for the sin of the râpe which she suffers. And if she does not suffer räpe, every man who was tempted will be her responsibility before God. Do you consider this unjust?

I will anticipate the claim that a woman can never by her dressing prevent a räpist. If a woman is in the privacy of her home even nakêd with no exposure to the outside world were to be râped, she cannot be blamed at all within that context. If her own conscience blames her, she needs to reassess her understanding of moral imperatives. There are räpists indeed whether there is temptation or no, but a woman need not give them any kind of excuse. And there are excuses to give, that is the point of this thread.

I really don't understand the last paragraph.

The Bible never said blame should be apportioned to the tempter, but to the tempted, that is, if he failed to resist.

No way, Ihe. Come on. How would you blame a victim for a crime as gruesome as rape?

When did self control become a thing of the past? You're a Christian, Jesus really won't be pleased with this.

Why? Cause he said mere looking at a woman lustfully qualifies you for an eternity in hell as it is akin to fornication.

I wonder what he'd say about rape.

dagr8:
We are still saying the same thing....when you are not lucky, you end up barring the ball cheesy with all your opportunities and the opponent is lucky to score with the ONLY opportunity available.
So you're saying when the ball hits the bar, there is no luck and vice versa..... Well whatever it is we feel or think makes the ball hit the net, it doesn't matter so long as a winner emerges.

Let's drop this football talk jare....

What does that arabic mean?
Religion / Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by vickyO(f): 10:11am On Jul 12, 2014
dagr8:
My dear, how would you describe a situation where a player who have been scoring goals even in unexpected angles, coming one on one with the keeper and yet waste the ball.
Or hit the bar 8 times grin....haba ...We will all shout "kai, Messi is not lucky today o"...
But just one opportunity came for the opponent and he shoots the pig skin into the net... cheesy

A very funny illustration... Well, I said netting the ball not barring the ball.
Religion / Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by vickyO(f): 9:58am On Jul 12, 2014
dagr8: Well, my mean point is that luck determines result too not only preparation.Chile was suppose to knock Brazil out of the tournament at the second round. But what happened, luck shined on Brazil and they are among the best four teams.
Yes luck is not all, but is a determinant

Should we say luck?? Why not say the ability to make use of whatever opportunity you encounter? Cause if you take a good look at most poorly coordinated teams that end up winning in games, you'll notice that they utilize properly every opportunity they have at netting the pig skin (ball), so they call it.

I'm still watchin but so far so good it's been about the Blacks been denied a chance to participate actively in the US Army.. Right now they have been granted a chance to prove themselves and are enjoying a shooting spree in the German air base.... I give you a better review when I'm done..
Religion / Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by vickyO(f): 9:44am On Jul 12, 2014
ihedinobi2: Luck ehn?! Unless you mean the fact that no human knows everything and therefore there is always some element of "unpreparation", luck doesn't mean much o. Brazil simply had a poor play structure. I noticed that they struggled with a lot of their matches. Not like The Netherlands at all. And the Germans evidently prepared for a tough game too when they played Brazil.

Consider this: Iran held Argentina to a goalless draw with a very strong defence until Messi tried for a shot from outside the penalty box. If he had been a poorer striker and/or the goalie had had faster reflexes, the game may have ended in a goalless draw. Yet the same Iran lost to Bosnia in such a pitiful manner (3-1). It would seem that the preparation for each game is with respect to the opponent as well as the resources available to the team. I couldn't watch Brazil's game against Germany (I mean, how do you turn on the TV and it's only 23 minutes into the game and Brazil, mighty Brazil, is down by five goals ?! Already?! Na winsh?). But I could tell that something must have gone terribly wrong and judging by some things I'd noticed earlier about their defence, an analysis I read later about that game that held that they had a poor defence made sense to me.

I think theirs was both poor planning and poor use of their resources and perhaps an underestimation of Germany. Germany too possibly overestimated them hehe and went on a shopping spree.

This makes sense, I kinda really agree with you... Dagr8t, what do ya think?

I still believe Nigeria won't have beat France with that players even with the best management except mother luck look their way...

Ah! Come on Dagr8t.. I doubt what you believe though cause a bird told me you believed Brazil will win. We could have won, we really could.
Religion / Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by vickyO(f): 8:57am On Jul 12, 2014
dagr8:
There is always an element of luck in football, the best will not always win
remember Chelsea, Bayern champions league final....Nigeria may still not pass second round with best management.

Yes, I am great....are you back? What's up na?
Not fully back jare.. But I'll stick around for a while today...

Of course, see the likes of Spain, England and Italy, I was so shocked to see them cleared too early in the tornament. Anyway, the fact that I've always seen Nigeria as a Team that's got no life for a few years changed since they demolished Ivory Coast in the last nations cup and after watching their game progress in the World cup, I felt they would have done better with a better management. Luck is a minimal factor as if you fail to prepare well, the chances of being lucky is slim to none.

As you all have seen..... The enemies of progress have attacked us.
I hereby declare a week of fasting and prayer.

MISSION - To expose the perpetrators of this action and to hinder them from furthering their acts.

VISION - To have a Nairaland free of attack.

Take this stuff seriously.

It's mandatory everyone participates if not another storm is might come and it might be very bad.

Religious people will handle the spiritual aspect - prayers, prophecies, e.t.c.

Atheists and co handle the physical aspect - detain every suspect you find and use logic to imprison the rogue.
