There are alot of ways to end a conversation or a Meeting without the customer getting upset.

Based on your approach , you were more focused on his Cheque rather than politely declining his advances.

One will not blame you for the outcome, Marketing of any product is not easy especially Insurance.

This experience should be an eye opener to you with regards the type of customers out there.
