Nigerian musician, Douglas Jack Agu, better known as Runtown, has reportedly gotten engaged to his Australian Sudanese bae, Adut Akech. President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded a Nigerian man, Ikenna Nweke, who displayed integrity by returning a missing wallet containing a huge sum of money as well as a credit card and other valuables in Japan. Ikenna, an Imo State native, who is a PhD student at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, and also a teaching assistant in the same university, revealed that he stumbled on the wallet while climbing the staircase to buy some items for his wife at the Tsukuba center. “As I drew closer, I saw that it was a wallet. When I opened it, I saw a huge sum of money, a credit card, and other valuables. I immediately reported it to the police. One of the officers was surprised and asked me why I did not take the money. I told him that there was no need for that because I was raised by responsible parents and that I am also a Christian. He told me that according to Japanese law, I was entitled to 10% of the money found inside the wallet. Again I declined. The look on his face indicated bewilderment,” Ikenna said. Nweke who is married with four kids disclosed the owner of the wallet called him to show appreciation and also got a letter from the Ibaraki/Tsukuba Police. “They expressed their gratitude towards my incredible and selfless behavior. Six persons were confirmed dead, while two passengers were declared missing after a commercial boat en-route Ikorodu, Lagos, capsized in the wee hours of Friday, 3rd of July, 2020 at Ipakodo ferry terminal. The six adult females that lost their lives to the incident were later recovered by local divers. The boat captain and his assistant could not be found as search and rescue effort is ongoing to recover the victims. A 27-year-old self-confessed robber and serial rapist, identified as one Adeniyi Ajayi, on Tuesday revealed that he raped women and maids in the presence of their husbands and bosses, as punishment for refusing to give him money, during his operations. According to a report by Vanguardngr, rather than showing remorse for his action, Ajayi, who is an ex-convict, begged the Police to kill him, instead of sending him back to prison. The suspect, who runs a one-man squad, was apprehended in a hotel at Ijora 7-up area of Lagos. His modus operandi was to break into victims’ homes, ordering them to cooperate with him or risk being killed by other members of his gang whom he claimed had surrounded the building. When news of his arrest filtered round Sabo and its environ, eight victims, some of who were civil servants and lawyers, stormed SARS office to affirm that he raped them during operation. Among them were also two female staff of a company in Sabo, who disclosed that he raped them right before their male colleagues, in broad daylight on June 16, 2020. The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the resumption of domestic flights in the country. In a statement released on Wednesday, July 1, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said the Abuja and Lagos airports will resume domestic operations on July 8, while the Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Maiduguri airports would resume on the 11th. Other airports are also expected to resume operations on the 15th. Sirika, however, noted that a date for the international airports will be announced in due course. The Nigerian airspace has been closed since March this year following the outbreak of Coronavirus in Nigeria. The statement in part reads “The flights will commence with the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. The Port Harcourt , Owerri and Maiduguri airports will reopen to flights on the 11th of July, while other airports across the country will join on the 15th of July. Passengers looking to travel out of the country will have to wait a bit longer as the dates for the restart of international flights into and out of the country will be announced later.
